An explanation for what? No amtter the status of your claimed nanites, my pm specifically states I have partial control of the goblin. I choose his target, but he gets to choose the action. What more explanation do you want. Is there a reason you haven't just posted your pm? You can just leave out GG's identity if you want.

An explanation for what? No amtter the status of your claimed nanites, my pm specifically states I have partial control of the goblin. I choose his target, but he gets to choose the action. What more explanation do you want. Is there a reason you haven't just posted your pm? You can just leave out GG's identity if you want. just ingrained from games where it's not allowed [/i] REAL NAME: Lucas Bishop YOU LOOK LIKE THIS: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CABLE004_cov.jpgALIGNMENT: Town GENERIC: Special WIN CONDITION: All Anti-Registration forces have been neutralized ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BACKGROUND:Other folks hail from Brooklyn, or Scarsdale, or Alberqueque, or the Skrull Planet: you, on the other hand, are from a bleak alternate future in which war is neverending and mutants are branded with the letter "M" over the eye to identify them. You knew of the heroic group of mutants called the "X-Men," but only as long-dead legends, betrayed by one of their own. Using your own mutant power to absorb and redirect energy and the advanced technology of your age, you found a way to travel back in time to find the X-men and hopefully, help them avert the dark visions that you have seen become real. Over the years, you have become a part of the X-men and experienced many things. You see in the present conflict a danger of increased mistrust between humans and mutants, a potential trigger for a future even bleaker than the one from which you have come. You see Registration as one way of bridging the gap between these two constantly struggling factions, and have come to actively support it even as your fellow X-men have rejected or ignored it. Here on Ryker's Island you serve a unique role. You are aware that redacted is the Green Goblin, a former criminal who has joined S.H.I.E.L.D. in their efforts to neutralize anti-Registration forces. The Goblin is a brilliant inventor and has access to a number of useful tools and weapons, but he is, regrettably, entirely mad. Therefore, S.H.I.E.L.D. has surreptitiously implanted the Goblin with nanites, microscopic robots able to control his actions. Because of your considerably facility with advanced technology (owing to the fact that you were born some 45 years from now), you have been given the small computer terminal from which the Goblin's actions will be partially directed. The Goblin is a particularly strong-willed individual - and crazier than a drug-addicted sewer rat - so your control is only partial; you will have to figure out how to coordinate your activities with those of your charge to produce mutually useful results. Please note: The Goblin knows that someone is controlling him, but does not know your name, identity on Ryker's Island, or even your alignment. ABILITIES/POWERS:1. You are aware that redacted is Norman Osborn, popularly known as the Green Goblin, and that (s)he is Pro-Registration (ie, Town-aligned). 2. Once per Night, you will select a target for the Goblin; he will choose which of his toys to use that Night (ie, what action to take). You must choose a target; if you don't, there is no telling what unexpected difficulties might occur. If you die, the Golbin will be able to direct his own actions, and will have a chance to choose whether to retain his allegiances or strike out on his own. [/quote]

Anyone else here from the Dope under a different name? It would be a shame for me to not have a heads up on someones play style because I didn't recognise them. I like to know where the crazy and the controlling is in games I play! Oh and while I'm at it, this post was an attempt by me to alert the Goblin as t who his controller was. Note the words crazy and controlling. The goblin is crazy, I'm the controller

After my death the goblin is totally self willed and chooses his target and action. Given that his allegiance goes wobbly on my death. I am inclined to put the name out there. Anyone else have a view on this? If the recruitment is limited to some players that get to pick sides based on certain events, then knowing who they are could be helpful. As it's still the start of the game it could swing either way, so there isn't an obvious winning side to pick. On the other hand you claim the Green Goblin is town now so presumably playing for a town win and outing him might piss him of enough to pick another side (he's quite unstable in the color as your role PM mentions) while if you're really town he might respect your sacrifice and stick with town. Also you say he can't confirm you one way or another so no win there. I would like some others to respond to the new claims so far before the hammer is dropped as Mhaye considers to do. What guarantee is there that because your nanites don't work that the ones the Goblin has don't work either?

What guarantee is there that because your nanites don't work that the ones the Goblin has don't work either? Good question. Obviously, I cannot guarantee that. However, I will point out that both of us were (according to luvbwfc) implanted with nanites by the same fascist organisation - that is, SHIELD. Why, then, am I freed from control and the GG not? Is it because GG is a complete fruitcake, as the colour in the PM claims? Because my controller wasn't sent to Ryker Island? Or maybe because this is a fake claim? The quoted PM is clearly the work of Storyteller, but that doesn't absolve anyone of suspicion in my eyes. I'm still thinking, and have to spend some time on other games this evening. I'll switch votes (or not) around midnight, but I will make sure that if I don't that I say I won't.

well, i guess i could hammer but that would be shitty coming off of a long holiday. self preservation has never been my strong point, either.
but in all seriousness a no bs question.
if gg can switch sides (and the way it reads makes him sound like a 3rd party option) should we not as a matter of principle lynch that person? let's assume for the minute that all is true. if gg has the option, at some point of becoming not town. if he switches to 3rd party then town have another bad person to contend with while also reducing the town stock. shoot it's even worse if they were to have the option of going scum. then town could lose a player and scum gain a player. whoo, mas power. i mean, isn't that like a five point swing on the jsex way of computing points. additionally, who is to say that you could ever believe them anyways. yeh i was town and had a choice to become not town but decided to stay town.
just a question.

but that is my theoretical. and the first person that says i am fishing is going to make me want to scream.
let's believe you at face value. shouldn't town clamor to figure out who gg is? i mean you get lynched, maybe oops, maybe whoopee. but what happens if you live and get NK'ed? then we have a player who on their whim can "choose", or whatever.
you have to play the game you feel you need to play. i was merely bringing it out as a hypothetical.
i honestly don't know the correct play but was merely begging the question and asking for input because from my vantage point knowing folks that could turn to the "dark side" might have some value.
one other question, and if you can't answer it or won't i understand. does gg have to make an immediate decision upon your death or could they temporize?

I, for one, wouldn't clamor for a lynching of the GG if outed. For one, he may choose to remain Town, and would have more incentive to as he's already outed. Second, if he chose 3rd party, wouldn't we be able to exert some control over him? 'chaining' him as it were to do what we want? All that said, I'm in the camp of wanting to lynch luvbwfc now, but I'm not willing to hammer so let me Vote: Special Ed

Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning [/oog] As to what the hell it is, yes, it's a self-vote. If anyone else out there has an extra vote (just 1, maybe 2, let's not get carried away) I wouldn't complain.

Well, it's 12:45am, and I'm pretty tired. Time to go to bed.
Before I go, I promised I'd decide whether or not to drop the hammer on our friend the Bolton Wanderers fan. I'm a little late in doing so because I wasn't paying attention to the clock.
I was hoping that the Goblin might claim for him- or herself, which would put an end to the debate, but it did not happen.
I'm not going to drop the hammer now, because of an oog problem. Doing so will end the possibility of a vote shift to someone else, but I doubt that Storyteller will see or act on that vote much before 1pm tomorrow (that's 8am EST), owing to his illness.
Let's leave ourselves maximum freedom of manoevre.

luvbwfc - 5 (Sister Coyote - #206, Hawkmod - #266, drainbead - #300, Inner Stickler - #336, BillMC - #381) plus Hal at 410. All of them but Inner Stickler have been around for discussion post-claim (though none have posted since luv's posting of his full role pm) - I'd like to hear if IS feels happy keeping his vote on before the hammer comes down.
Also I think on balance it would be better for town to know who the Green Goblin is. But I could be wrong and have been totally confused in this game so far.

So obviously luv is my first target for investigation. If there is more than one death tonight, I'll have to choose who to get info about. Obviously if there is a dead Scum in the morning, I'll pick them. But if it's multiple dead townies, how should we deal with it?
