After more than a week of dramatic turnarounds, the end of The Black Mask was remarkably anticlimactic. He went to the noose silently, and though his last words were fierce and impassioned, they did nothing to move the small group of angry faces collected around him. In a few short minutes it was done. Hal Briston, THE BLACK MASK, who was Town (Protective) has been lynched. After a few minutes, the one called Gadarene looked around at the rest of them. Gadarene’s gaze was cold, resolved. The one called sinjin leaned quietly toward Mahaloth. Hey, did you notice that Gadarene was in a wheelchair?. Braaaaaaaaaaaains, replied Solomon Grundy (born on a Monday). Gadarene’s gaze remained fixed on BillMc. After a moment, they seemed to come to an unspoken agreement. And that other one, mused Deadshot – for so he was, though sinjin had served as adequate cover for some time. He looks so familiar. I’m sure I’ve seen him before. Did I kill him at some point? God, it gets so hard to keep track.Neeeeeeewwwwwssspaapppperbraaaaaaaaaains, concurred Grundy, shrugging. “I think it’s time,” said Gadarene. “Bruce?” BillMc nodded. “I think so. Thanks, Barbara. Sorry I couldn’t work with you directly.” From a small compartment in the rear of her chair, the woman who had once called herself Batgirl drew out… something. At first, the assembly couldn’t quite identify it, and they rocked on their heels nervously. Deadshot brought up his gun – but it was unloaded, after all, and anyway the thing the girl in the wheelchair was holding was nothing but a… belt? “I kept it safe for you,” she said, handing the belt to BillMc. Impassively he accepted it, snapped it around his waist. He looked up at them. His eyes narrowed, meeting Deadshot’s gaze, and the assassin finally recognized him. It was in the eyes. SBrown shifted nervously. “What’s going on?” he asked. Deadshot grinned, impressed in spite of himself. He’s back, baby, he said. The Bat is Back.Mahaloth and sinjin held still, unmoving. But SBrown moved quickly – directly over to where the resurrected hero of Gotham stood. “Hey, Mr. Wayne. I thought that was you. Listen, no hard feelings, right? We’re good. “ BillMc met his eyes, and SBrown looked away. “Get out of town, Lonnie,” he told the wild-eyed teenager. “You get a pass this time, for your help yesterday. But no more bombs.” “Absolutely,” SBrown said, suddenly in a hurry to make an appointment for lunch. He scurried down the alley. He paused only for a moment, to glance back at sinjin and Mahaloth, and was gone. SBrown, ANARKY, who was a Third Party Survivor (Special), has survivedSinjin and Mahaloth put in no great fight when they were led away. This was Gotham City, after all… there would always be another chance for a good time. sinjin, DEADSHOT, who was Town (Killing), will spend the early part of her retirement in Leavenworth State Prison, while
Mahaloth, SOLOMON GRUNDY, who was Town (Special), made the wrong friends this time around. With the last of the riff raff cleaned up, Gadarene and BillMc met in the courtyard of Arkham. “Guess we’re finished here, Bruce,” the former said with the hint of a smile. Bruce Wayne nodded, unsmiling, and they walked, slowly, toward the city they would rebuild. …And from a distance, watching, the man in the red hood began to giggle. And then laugh. Back, baby, the figure chortled gutterally. We’re all…
Back.----- The Game has ended! Congratulations to our winners: the Scum – Bill Mc, BRUCE WAYNE (Special) Gadarene, ORACLE (Investigative) askthepizzaguy, CATWOMAN (Special) MHaye, THE PENGUIN (Special) Special Ed, BATMAN (Special) Idle Thoughts, HUNTRESS (Killing)Congratulations also to SBrOwn, also known as ANARKY but once known as RoOsh, who as a third party survivor won the game without ever formally being recruited. Honorable mention to texcat, who lost her ally (guiri) and was under pressure within a Day of game start and very nearly pulled off a win. Thanks to all for playing. The spoiler board is at bladerunnergame.proboards.comThe Scum boards were at azraelbats.proboards.comI’ll open both presently.

Congrat's, scum team.
And my apologies to sinjin, who I was after quite a bit, but obviously mistaken about.

Thanks for the game, Story! Some fantastic roles. Even if I couldn't use my power after Night Two because I had to be the one to carry out the night kill every time, since my team kept dying.

Well done, guys!
One thing that's got me wondering now, in retrospect -- SBrOwn, once we hit yesterDay it was pretty clear that your best move would be to lynch town, end the game and get your win. Given that, were you voting for me as "I want to lynch scum" or "I want to lynch town"?

Unfortunately, we had no idea who we were supposed to be looking for to recruit. We got either one or two chances -- I can't remember -- and one of them was spent on LightFoot as Robin, because that seemed like an obvious one. Then we were out of recruiting opportunities. It obviously worked out, though, since you were just operating independently of us but fully on the scum team, for which I'm very grateful.

As for me, I admittedly didn't play very well in-thread -- Chronos's acrostic thing actually gave me a lot of trouble when trying to devise a cover, since I took the acrostic from my own role (not knowing at that point which cover role had been compromised) and then had to jury-rig it into the Jane Doe role PM. (It was...interesting to play in a game where Town could effectively clear themselves just by posting their full PM, since I feel like it does become slightly more a game of the scum against the gamemaker's ingenuity, rather than scum against town.) In any event, while I didn't contribute a ton in the thread, I felt like I was able to consistently make the right kills night after night to narrow the field (and we got lucky that none were protected). In particular, our one investigative result returned sinjin as a Town killing power on Night One, but I was happy to hold off on him after the earlier scum carnage, figuring that even if he was a full vig, he was far more likely to hit Town than Scum. Same with TexCat, who we left alone because she was helping much more than she was hurting. Winning as scum is all about getting X mislynches and X Town deaths, and TexCat assisted us with the latter. She definitely played very well, though, in coming close to the victory.

Our recruiting worked like Nanook's did.
The Penguin was the Do-Gooder's recruiter. I decided against offering Pleo the role Day 1, because I wasn't sure he'd survive. The problem is, whoever you picked had to (a) have a role that would make them susceptible to recruitment, and (b) be willing as a player to accept recruitment.
That's why my D1 pick was Pollux Oil.
It turned out he wasn't recruitable, and then Texcat snuffed me. Ah well - next time I'll make it clear to the roleblocker that he should block the killer, especially when (a) I stood out like a sore thumb, and (b) she was so obviously PFK. (I'd just seen Batman Begins. The film Ra's wanted everyone dead, and the colour painted her as film Ra's.)
The Batsuit gave the team a one-off recruitment if I died. It was used, and that was the end of it.

My game comments are all in the spoiler thread. To summarize: scum missed a big opportunity for not killing peeker after their bizarre confirmation of Gadarene. Town played poorly by lynching third parties and by not lynching the PFK until too late. And if not for my and texcat's taking out scum at the beginning, town would have lost even faster.
So, can we get a list of who was and was not recruitable?

We just got our pitchforks into the wrong ones. I still think the logic was sound though. How was Town supposed to know that all of them weren't just like RoOsh until they were already dead? Aside from Nanook being killed to confirm that Mahaloth was indeed recruited, there would always be that little niggling in the back of the mind that the 3rd Parties would play both sides against eachother to ensure their own survival. I'm a little fuzzy on how many the Town could possibly have recruited though.

Well, both sides struggled mightily, being foiled at every turn, but in the end, Town tried harder, and finally managed to lose.
Gadarene, you noticed that you had a problem with your acrostic. I don't think BillMc did, though. If it had occurred to anyone to actually check them, Town could have easily lynched you both.
Other than that, though, BillMc played pretty well. I especially like the way you used your messages-- Even once everyone knew they were Scum lies, you still managed to influence folks' thought patterns.
And I said it in the spoiled thread, but I'll say it again here: If this is the way that RoOsh plays when he's trying to feign a lack of analytical skill, I'd love to play with him when he's not holding back.

Well played, Scum and SBrOwn...
Of course, nobody has pointed out the most obvious mistake that the Town made...
We let Bill live past Day 3.
Sorry Bill, I really don't like the idea of the "If Bill isn't killed early, he must be Scum" rule...but when you keep playing like this, what else are we poor mortals to do?

I'm a little fuzzy on how many the Town could possibly have recruited though. Immediately lynching third parties who tried to be helpful to town encouraged the remainder not to. And a big clue should have been the claims themselves--claiming town is a lie and those shows some malicious intent. Claiming third party is truthful and lays the foundation for an honest alliance. And, of course, immediately lynching third parties and deferring the decision to lynch or not a PFK is the exact reverse of good town policy.

I think your early death and early spoilers may be influencing your opinion. And my residual unspoiled Town paranoia is probably influencing mine. We're just going to have to agree to disagree I guess. And I claim no part of the business of letting Texcat live longer than the day before I died.

Given that, were you voting for me as "I want to lynch scum" or "I want to lynch town"? I was in colusion with Scum via Messages for the last Two Days. I figured you were Town, and being bussed. The code word was whoever used the words "Ro0sh" would be the one I'd vote alongside with. -R I figured you were probably Town and that's why I gave you the device, to keep you around a lil' bit longer, Hal.

Sorry Bill, I really don't like the idea of the "If Bill isn't killed early, he must be Scum" rule...but when you keep playing like this, what else are we poor mortals to do? Amusingly BillMC was on my short list of "new" players who I got a dangerous vibe from. I wanted to Bus PizzaGuy, Pollux (only after he outlived his usefulness), and BillMC on my short list. However, the messages is what stopped me. If I had NOT received a message, my next target to figure out how to bus was going to BillMC. He WAS wearing the freaking Batsuit! How could no one want to lynch him after that? Wasn't that a clue enough?? ;D I was playing Pro-Town somewhat, Cookies, but the lynching of DB really made me NOT want to help out the Town. However, I thought it was my only option, and did fake my role PM To leave out the idea of a Recruitment (but if scum or town had asked me Day 1 or 2, I would have lept at the chance, after day 2, probably not as much). Pollux- I deviced you on day 1, solely because you were the only Townie who died in Arkham, and I figured with the device on you, you'd stay alive longer for me to have fun with. -Also, I figured you'd enjoy the little puzzles- what the device did, AND if you could figure out it was me behind SBrown- Stephanie Brown. The Spoiler. Which was hinted to several times during the game actually.

You would have tried to lynch me for a 1 letter error in the acrostic? Yes. And opportunistic voting. You seemed to have the best/shadiest voting record actually for scum. It was too perfect with the later votes on Pizza, and the off on Idle. And I woulda tried to WIFOM the Batsuit as indicative of you being Batman/Scum. Man, that woulda bought me a ton of credibility if I managed that. But you had to go and talk to me instead. -R

For what it's worth, RoOsh, two people figured out your secret: Pollux, way, way, way back on Day One (he recognized your posting style then looked at your birthdate, which apparently you used your real one), and Bill, about a Day or two ago. Fun stuff to watch.
sinjin, I think there were three separate Nights where I thought you were going to kill Bill - which would have changed the end game wildly. I kept expecting it... and then it was Pollux. The lesson, I think, is trust your instincts.

And there were probably a few ranty/angsty posts that need not be mentioned. But damn. So none of my Pizzaguy plottings were saved? OR the Swerve bus?
