quick question for the crowd. do you type directly on to the web site or do you use something like word and then just copy and paste. i mean several times in the past i have composed a compelling piece of literature and then hit the wrong button and, poof, it is gone. typically at that point i say fuck it, apparantly it was not meant to be. I use a word doc then copy/paste - preview-- I've lost too many fascinating posts by not doing so. although on this board you can't preview unless you are quoting someone so I use quote and delete the quote if it is not relavant

Vote: JohnnyBravoTo comply with Peeker's request, but I don't think it's going to do anything because Colby says they resolve at dusk. I understand that this is a vote purely for the sake of Science, but I'm still a little uncomfortable having a vote on me when the mod has clearly stated that the gems will not do anything until the end of the day. We also don't know the extend of the gems' power at all, other than that some are beneficial and some are baneful. For all we know, xarchangelx's gem says "at dusk, assassinate whomever the holder was voting for at the end of the day."

Day ends on Tuesday so I'm leaving it for right now, but your points are taken and I will remove this vote when I have a real vote to place (unless I end up really wanting to vote for you, in which case I will tell you).

I read it as the former because people were commenting that Mahaloth and I got the gems as early birds so they couldn't get any now. Colby commented in response to those comments. But I assume he'll clarify.

I actually took it the second way that there will be plenty of gems through out the game but only 1 green and 1 black available today

separate post since this is more overall strategy as opposed to this specific game strategy.
when do you lynch lurkers? the trend on this board is that you give them a couple of Days to check in, catch up and what not. but what seems to happen more often than not is that town just lynches the loud for some lame ass reason during this "grace period". then when we get around to nixing the lurkers they inevitably are just being non participating townies and town is bye bye. that's why it seems better town strategy to get rid of them early. any thoughts because i honestly can see both sides of the argument (other than the town lynch the loud for some lame ass reason). and i am certainly not proposing this as a policy because if town locks themselves into a course of action scum just kind of scootch out of the way. just curiouos about others' opinion dontchaknow. seriously, i think that the majority of the time scum are middle of the pack participants. but if you get rid of the lurkers the pool of suspects is greatly diminished. and really with no policy if folks decide to lynch out of the pool of middle of the roaders they are then forced to become a lurker (certain death) or a high volume where eventually they make a mistake.

From my perspective It is early I am willing to respond – any conversation is better than none In my last few games my participation has been quite low- it had nothing to do with my alignment (I’ve been randed both sides of the coin) Lurkers- that are online but not giving the game much- are a liability – to Town Players that have a min of time- are a liability to both sides- but Town lynching them out of hand is not a benefit to Town early on- and Scum won’t want to because they will be easy pickings later on ( unless a Scum is on the line) I think I have talked myself into a circle- so - I suppose my opinion helps not

Wow, after five years I got it. May an individual player have more than one gem at a time? And will the colors of the gems be consistent each day or will they vary? Only one gem at a tine. They will be the same for Day and Night, but their powers will vary

[/b] first, i don't see the wifom from maha in his post. care to give the clueless a litte more analysis on how this conclusion was reached. second, i don't quite understand the logic between politeness and alignment. i mean angel hasn't used any of george carlin's seven words that i can recall. so i am clueless on this one as well. any chance for further explanation. third, ask, opal.[/quote] "Please" could imply "because I know exactly how I want to use it, and I need it, .... Immediately.

I don't think I've ever been more confused about what's going on with these shiny gem things. I think it's a situation where we'll get it as it happens (or I will, maybe some of you do get it already). For that reason I'm going to hold off picking up a gem (since in the rules it says they can be good or bad). Although I'm still not sure whether there's more than one of each colour or not. My interpretation is that there was only one of each gem, but that during the game as a whole there will be enough gems that everyone will be able to have one.
I also do not see the WiFoM Meeko is claiming to have seen in regards to Maha's post.
Meeko then said this: "Please" could imply "because I know exactly how I want to use it, and I need it, .... Immediately. Are you trying to suggest that perhaps some players already know what gems do? That's all I can infer from this, but then I have to ask how you came up with the idea?

As for previewing posts - you should be able to preview them whether you use a quote or not. In the box at the bottom of the thread where it says "Quick Reply" there are 2 options. You can type in that box and hit "Post Quick Reply" at the left below the box, or you can just hit the Reply button to the far right above the box and it will take you another screen with a box to type in. At the bottom left of that box there are 2 tabs - "Preview" and "BBCode" that you can toggle between. They will show you your message with the codes or how it will appear in the thread. Hopefully that makes sense.

Unvote: Unvote Johnny Bravo
Vote: Storyteller
Peeker, this vote illustrates my attitude toward lurking. As Lightfoot noted, life can get in the way whatever alignment. But popping in for one post to agree with a plan made by another player and having nothing else to say...that's how scum lurk when they're lurking on purpose.
