A Maddening day for all came to a close as the denizens of Arkham could not come to a consensus. There were three candidates for the elected position of formerly living, and the strange code of conduct that had been agreed to by all could not be swayed to allow all three to take the post.
Finally, however, the grim collective decided that The Bat was not their enemy for the day, but instead was the small, unassuming but deliciously annoying man known as Jervis Tetch, the Mad Hatter.
He had played with their sympathies and preyed upon their gullibility for the past five days, while generously doling out small marks of his favor to some. The body of Ra's al Ghul lay in the corner with one of his stylish chapeaus perched upon it. And among some of his most ardent accusers this day, fancy top hats could be seen.
Tetch didn't care. As the Town surrounded him, pushing to be the one to finally do him in, he pulled from his pocket a well crafted device that could be only one thing: a detonator.
The crowd pulled back with a gasp, and separated themselves from those wearing the Hatter's hats. The Hatter's thumb pushed down on the detonator's trigger, with a cackle.
Cookies gasped and slumped over. But other than that, nothing happened. The Mad Hatter looked at the device, and pushed it several more times. But still, nothing happened. A thin bead of sweat appeared from his oversized top hat's brim and rolled down his forehead. A sickly smile appeared on his face as he offered "Would anyone care for some tea?"
This was not a time for tea. The great mass of the town chased the Hatter out of the hall and to the front of the Asylum grounds, where the great green electrical field still stood. Cornered, and with nowhere else to go, he leapt through the field. Or, he tried to.
As his body collided with the field, he was held suspended in midair as pulses of electricity tore through him. The Town watched in awe as he shook and convulsed with pain. As time wore on, the field grew brighter and brighter, while Tetch's body continued to writhe faster and faster until a massive explosion washed over all of them.
Ryjae, a.k.a. The Mad Hatter, a Mad Bomber Playing For Keeps blew himself up.
The Town slowly filed back inside the asylum, picking pieces of their former foe off of them, only to discover something very odd. Lying in the middle of the floor... where CometotheDarkSideWeHaveCookies once stood, only an eyepatch and a pile of dirt remained.
Cookies, a.k.a. Dehydrating Pirate #3, Rehydrated, a Baddie Mason, ReDehyrated.

Well, that both simplifies and complicates things greatly.

A Cookies, a.k.a. Dehydrating Pirate #3, Rehydrated, a Baddie Mason, ReDehyrated. (Cookies couldn't continue with the game. It was too late to find a sub.) That both sucks and blows. However, from your statement, may we assume that Cookies did not die by any game mechanism?

However, from your statement, may we assume that Cookies did not die by any game mechanism? That is a physical impossibility. Well, really, sucking at all is a physical impossibility. It's all just blowing from a different direction. But yes, no game mechanic led to the death of Cookies.

Sucks majorly that Cookies had to drop out.
At least that should end any outstanding suspicions of the masons not being town.

So Dio, do we get an explination of what happened there? Ryjae chose to blow himself up? I don't get it.

Completely non-game related, my girlfriend just called and asked if I had felt the earthquake that hit West Salem, IL this morning. Apparently I was unaware it was felt throughout the city and even up to Milwaukee. (I talked to her earlier today and she neglected to mention that she felt it--she lives in Bucktown.)
But no, I was sleeping soundly at that time. There was no shaking at all that woke me up. If it got out this far Northwest, it was barely a shiver.

I swore we were on Central? But ah well, I made it back too late, but it didn't matter.

Heh, I lived in Huntington Beach during the Northridge Earthquake and in Puerto Rico during Hurricane Hugo (the eye of the storm basically went right over our neighborhood).
So naturally I slept through this little thing here.

Sorry y'all. The reasons are varied, but mostly unanticipated and couldn't be helped. Nothing too dramatic, just life being what it is. Kassia and I are still coming to Vegas next months, so hopefully we will see some of you there. I've opted out of being a co-mod with Idle on the pending games roster as well, but I will likely be back in the fray at some future date. I'll check in from time to time and will try to make it for some of the post-game discussion. This has been a really fun game. Much love and props to you all for making it so, and especially to the Gastards.

According to my parents, who live up in Sister Bay, WI, the earthquake was felt as far up as Peshtigo, WI (close to the Upper Michigan border).

For awhile at least, I just can't predict how long. The who/what/when/where/how to merge or not to merge question with my employer is one of the moving parts, and I have no earthly idea how long that is going to take to resolve. There is some good news about Idle and I splitting up our mod efforts. We hadn't really gotten very far beyond brainstorming some possible themes/setups, and the one that I happen to like is a Jason Bourne themed game, and last I heard, Idle hasn't seen any of the Bourne Trilogy, so now he's off the hook of trying to Mod while color blind. As we haven't collectively gotten very far in what we were going to do, I was worried that I'd need to devote a lot of time to preparing in time for the time slot. Idle and Kassia won't be able to play in my game, once I'm ready to unveil it, as they've both been spoiled, but I'm calling dibs on that theme, and I think it will be quite fun. I can stew and ponder and hash out the set up and balancing on my own schedule this way.

One wonders if ryjae had any other powers at all, or he was pulling his investigation results out of his, er, hat.
We totally aren't going to find out what this setup was about until the game is over, are we?

Well DAMN it Rysto, you can't post something as seductively intriguing as that and not expect some of us to get excited enough to want more, more, more! I swear to God you're a bigger tease than my ex-girlfriend... and she was a past-master in the art of leaving a guy frustrated and horny...
