Day 2
Jul 22, 2009 15:00:35 GMT -5
Post by Hawkmod on Jul 22, 2009 15:00:35 GMT -5
Buff and Cookies gather in the town square to watch the sun rise.
The rest of the Town joins them 5 hours later.
A voice booms over the loud speaker.
“So I’m going out with this girl for the first time and we’re going to the movies and as usual, I’m throwing out my bread crumbs. And she asks me what it is that I’m doing and I tell her that I’m throwing out my bread crumbs so I can find my way home because I have a terrible sense of direction. So she laughs like it is a big joke and I say I don’t see why my personal troubles should make such a big joke. And she said, ‘Loo—don’t worry—I’ll take you home!’ So I got mad. I said, ‘Look—we each have our own way of finding ourselves. Who is it to say yours is better than mine?’ And she said, “You can’t make a whole philosophy out of bread crumbs.’ So right out on the street we had a fight. And I got so mad I walked away and completely forgot to follow my bread crumbs. And an amazing thing happened—I had no trouble getting home. It seems to make my whole life invalid.”
“Everyone seems to have survived that okay.” says Archangel. Well, maybe not that guy.
The town turns in attention to Pedescribe lying lifeless on the floor.
Pedescribe, a pro-town doctor, has ventured onto worlds unknown
“Oh no Pede has been killed by breadcrumbs”, exclaims Hockeyguy. Or perhaps it was the knife in the back of the throat. Without our Doctor we can never be sure the precise cause of death.
“Mmm breadcrumbs.” ponders Special Ed. Some nice crispy fried chicken sounds great. I think I’ll pick up some at the grocery store.
“Grokry wha?” stutters Buff.
Grocery store. You know the place to buy meats, produce and all sorts of package goods.
“But.. But… cow, moo, butt…”
As it turns out, those would prove to be Buff’s last words as Buff, a vanilla Rebel, is defeated by the big city lights.
“Hmm, two deaths, that isn’t too bad.” states NAF. What do you think Mhaye?
But alas Mhaye’s corpse doesn’t respond. It merely points at the direction in which his killer presumably came from.
Mhaye, The First Lady of Quantom, A peacekeeper, is dead.
“Fine, now he holds a grudge.” adds Spintari
“This never would have happened if we could have cooked at night.” utters Pleo “Hey, guys there is something else.” says Natlaw. Stanislaus is missing.
Stanislaus is temporarily gone from the game. He cannot participate in discussion, vote or be a lynch target.
Day 2 will end tentatively on Tuesday at 4:00pm EST.

Quite a dawn colour - and the body count. Bugger that we lost our Doc, but excellent that someone bagged a scummy Bufftabby.
Peacekeeper? does the green colour signify that MHaye was a 3rd party?
And what the heck is/was a Contrarian?

My kill target is not amongst the dead. I was either blocked or re-directed. Hopefully just blocked.

{askmod} Is a peace keeper third party solo player or a faction? {/askmod} I'm getting a Not-so-Simpletown vibe, which had four factions but that wasn't revealed publicly.

And what the heck is/was a Contrarian? I was thinking about this at Night. I couldn't think of much, but I did look up what a 'Contrarian' meant and I got this: –noun a person who takes an opposing view, esp. one who rejects the majority opinion, as in economic matters.Any thoughts? I was thinking someone who can't vote with the majority during the Day, hence the "rejects the majority opinion" part of the definition.

So...I have a bit of information that I would like to share. Note the following is not a claim of any sort, but I did get some info about an even that is going to occur toMorrow. Apperantly there is a terrorist attack planned on the town for Day 3. It's activated by lynching the wrong person (the bomber). Likewise it is activated by no lynching on Day 3. I figure it is best if I get that out there as soon as possible so we have enough time to figure out how to deal with it.
I don't have any more information than that. I suspect that the bomber is a game ender, but that's just my suspicion I don't actually know.

I hope, for ped's peace of mind, that she was hit by a one-shot unblockable kill rather than not protecting herself. Assuming that she could protect herself.
We have some role information that we need to discuss. What is a "Contrarian", what is a "Peacemaker"? I don't think the Contrarian was recruitable in the usual sense, since the last official rule was "no recruitment". Hard to say what it means. But since we know Mollusc was Town at the time of death, we know we can trust the motives behind his posts.
Unless the moderator gives us additional information, I'm going to assume the Peacemaker is a hostile faction that we are not required to eliminate. But if they win before we do, they may prevent us from winning. If we discover a live one, I'd say they're an excellent Vig target.
It looks like Stan has been frozen somehow. What an annoying power.

I can guess at stuff based on the wording of the PM I got, but beyond that I don't know anything more. It sounds like as long as we don't lynch the bomber on Day 3 we are ok. If we get him before or after or via a non lynch method, aces, otherwise an unspecified very bad thing will happen.

So now we know for sure that we do have vanilla rebel scum. Good riddance, buff. ;D
Sorry to see you end up with the shit end of the out-guessing stick, Pede.
It seems like we might could be sorry to see Mhaye go, but who knows at this point.
At least (assuming you're pro-town) we can't end up lynching you today, Stanislaus.
If Hockey Monkey is to be believed, her win condition seems like it might also qualify as "contrarian" to what is included in the posted vanilla Establishment PM.
What does everyone think of parking me the tie-breaker death seat?
Julie Special Ed Pleonast Naf1138 Natlaw
Mhaye (Peacemaker/who knows what) Cookies (claimed vanilla town) Hockeyguy
Bufftabby (vanilla rebel) Pollux
Pedescribe (Town doc) Mister Blockey BillMC Peeker
PrecambrianMollusc (lynched pro-town/3rd Party/Contrarian) Nanook Archangel Sister Coyote Jaade Texcat Stanislaus (on temporary hiatus) Pumpjack dfrntbreign Hockey Monkey (claimed pro-town mandatory vig) Spintari Kid Vermicious Captain Pinkies
I count 22 live bodies and 21 eligible voters, since Stan is in his current predicament.
If 10 or 11 people are willing to vote for me and then unvote once all those votes have been placed, that would provide a solid buffer, but a lower number will make it easier to coordinate putting someone else in the tie-breaker death seat should we ever decide we want to.
**Edited upon preview of new posts, Pleo didn't count me as a claimed role, so I'm posting my list anyway.

I'd have to agree with your view on the 'Peacemaker'. Looks like a hostile faction (kind of ironic with a name like Peacemaker, but I digress) that we don't have to kill, but could steal the win from us. How would a 'peaceful' faction go about winning though. I doubt they'd have the same win con we do of taking out the Rebel threat, but what else could it be? As for the frozen Stan. Would he have the chance to remove himself to save himself, or would someone have had to 'freeze' him?

The bodies are already starting to pile up.
I'm wondering who took Bufftabby out. Do we have another vig? Or did a citizen hire Vinny to do it? And how did they get so lucky? Anyway, good work!
I'm also wondering who blocked HMonkey. I'm guessing that it was a cit. Surely, the rebels would have blocked the doc if they had a roleblocker (and they might have done so). I've considered the possibility that HMonkey's claim is total hooey, but can't think of a reason that she would make the entire thing up.
