Ok, so we have "qzcotl" for the seed so far. And suddenly this game has turned into Mesoamerican Deities Mafia.... [You're still missing a few vowels, though.]

If we need more - just take the first to letters from the very first post made by the rest of the players... And add the mod just for fun

And so the villagers spent the majority of the Day attempting to handshake each other.
"If I look at my PM while standing on my head and humming Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, I can clearly see who really shot JFK!" said one.
"Yeah, but I do the same thing and instead I see where Jimmy Hoffa is buried!" exclaimed another.
"I don't know what you guys are talking about, but when I apply the MD5 algorithm to mine I get the launch codes to the Russian nukes!" a third chimed in.
And so the conversations continued in this manner, until it was generally decided that sirsam972 would be the one they lynched. At which point sirsam972 showed up and said that he came to play mafia for real, not to figure out which among them had an index finger longer than the ring finger. That being said, the players all seized sirsam972 and brought him before the Mod.
"Oh great and glorious gastard!" they spoke in unison. "We have made our decision and we choose sirsam972, besides, he won't play our games."
"Well good for you. Don't expect me to kill him. I'm just the moderator."
"Oh..." responded the mob. "Well in that case...."
And without further ado, FCOD, Total Lost, and BillMc held sirsam972 down while hockeyguy8435 plunges a knife into his heart. As the blood gushed out, everyone examined his body and belongings to see if they had vanquished an enemy.
sirsam972, Town Miller, has been lynched.
Dusk now begins. No strategy is allowed in this thread until Dawn. Dawn will begin Thursday at 3:00 P.M. CDT. Night actions must be in by then.

Dawn breaks to find our bleary eyed crew assembled in the village donut shop.
"After all that weird hand shaking yesterday, the little known Mesoamerican Deity QzcotldsPF wants the cops to investigate the millers?" asks Gryff.
"We need to know whether they are town or scum,” responds FCOD while slurping his 10th espresso.
"But if they're millers won't they..?"
"Shh, don't bother Gryff with details when he's eating donuts."
Gryff slowly topples forward, face first into FCOD's coffee.
"Slight problem with Gryff," mumbled FCOD.
"What's, uh...What's wrong with him?" asked Mitey.
"I'll tell you what's wrong with him, my lad. 'E's dead, that's what's wrong with him!" exclaimed Texcat.
"No, no, 'e's uh,...he's resting," protested HockeyGuy.
"Look, matey, I know a dead Miller when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now," said Bill.
"No no he's not dead, he's, he's restin'! Remarkable player, the Gryff Miller, idn'it, ay? Beautiful plumage!" said Ed searching Wikipedia for a suitable random article.
"The plumage don't enter into it. He's stone dead," cried Total.
Gryff, Town Miller, has eaten his last donut.
Day 2 starts now and ends Saturday at 3 P.M. Central Time.

Sorry to see you go, Gryff. Great color, though!
After riffling through most of Total's belongings last night, I have determined that she's a member of the Mafia. This doesn't surprise me, since she's a Miller.
What did the rest of you find?

(Brilliant plan that is, either they are telling the truth and come back as Scum or they're lying and come back as Scum) Instead, I decided to investigate myself. I came back as Town. That eliminates the possibility that I am a Paranoid Cop or an Insane Cop. I'm either a Real Cop or a Naive Cop. I'm not sure what FCOD was hoping to accomplish by assigning us each different masons to investigate. Maybe he can rephrase for me the results he was expecting aside from "scum"? And, maybe, if another cop got "town" back we can assume they are either insane or Naive.

I wasn't involved in the discussion for us cops to investigate millers. I was at work. (Brilliant plan that is, either they are telling the truth and come back as Scum or they're lying and come back as Scum) That was pretty much the same conclusion that I came to. Investigating the claimed Millers wouldn't tell us anything. I agree a self investigation would tell us whether we were paranoid or insane, however, I decided to investigate Ed - who came back Town. I'm not sure what FCOD was hoping to accomplish by assigning us each different masons to investigate. Masons? Must be all that funny handshaking going to your head!

FCOD went to all this trouble to collect random number seeds to decide who was going to investigate whom, but it turns out that everyone else investigated ED? ? Pretty funny! And will really be hilarious if hockeyguy did the same thing.

So, here's the deal. We know that the entire town consists of cops and millers. Because of the handshaking, we know that the scum was provided with cover role PMs. If the town has 4 cops it would be incredibly unfair unless everyone else in the town was a miller. Therefore, the cop mechanism is completely pointless.
What I was trying to accomplish is seeing what people would come up with for results. Specifically, I was looking for a cop to investigate another cop. One thing that I notice scum doing all the time is trying to get another townie to trust him/her. Therefore, I believe that BillMc is scum, and he says he investigated Ed because he knows Ed is Town, and now Ed will believe Bill. Weak, I know...but it's all I have to go on.
Vote: BillMc

I think it's pretty clear that there are either two vanilla scum that were given the miller PM, or a Godfather that was given the cop PM and a vanilla scum that was given the miller PM.
Either way, it means that the investigative powers are entirely useless. If we investigate a claimed cop, we'll always get town, and if we investigate a claimed miller, we'll always get scum. I figured this out yesterday, but I didn't say anything because I wanted to see how people reacted to my "plan."
I did in fact investigate Total. I didn't think that insane cops really fit into the setup, so I didn't see a point in investigating myself. I figured that I would be sure to get a scum read, but I thought maybe the actual scum would read as town and took a chance.
hockeyguy also followed my plan, and got the expected result, assuming he's not lying. To me, this says townie. He couldn't think of a reason to investigate anyone else and just followed the plan.
Special Ed investigated himself. This seems like something he'd do, especially since he suggested it at the beginning of the Day. His claimed reasoning is to determine if he is a sane cop or not. However, it does seem like something scum would do, as scum would not have an actual result and therefore would want to make sure that their result was airtight.
Bill investigated Ed. Now, this, to me, is the most scummy play. If we assume Bill is town, I can't figure out a real town motivation. It wouldn't help determine sanity, and we already all knew that we shared the PM so it would be expected to get a town read. However, if we assume Bill is scum, it would possibly plant a seed in Ed's mind that Bill is town. In addition, Bill would know for a fact that Ed is town and would not risk some other factor, like Ed having a miller power of which he didn't inform us.
Anyway, this is a long post and again, it's not much to go on, but it's enough for me to place my vote. I realize this sorta re-iterates what I already said but I wanted to try to expand on it.

Would anyone like to speculate on why gryff's dead?
The first to claim is now the first to be night killed? Is this a coincidence or some gastardly action?
My first guess was that one of the cops would be killed last night. Do the scum know that our cops can't get any results that are worth anything? Or did they think that the cops would only investigate us millers (since that's who FCOD assigned them) and that the scum cops would be safe for a night?

I think it's pretty clear that there are either two vanilla scum that were given the miller PM, or a Godfather that was given the cop PM and a vanilla scum that was given the miller PM. FCOD, on the whole you pretty much state my reasoning. The handshaking yesterday confirms that all "cops" have access to the same pm, and all the "millers" have access to the same pm. So the scum have access to the town pm's. Investigating a miller was a scum or scum result. Ed hadn't agreed to your plan, so I presumed he would investigate himself, thus the only combination left was cop investigate cop -- which returned the expected result. Investigating another cop does not confirm that the cop is truthful - it confirms that none of the investigative results we get on each other can be trusted. While on the face of it, it is cops and millers, it appears it is really just an all vanilla game since investigations are useless.
