Night 1

Post by CatInASuit on Nov 4, 2009 15:12:19 GMT -5
It had been a long Day, starting with the jump and the firefight and now ending with a difficult decision.
Argument had been made for and against people. Slowly at first, but as Dusk drew near, the clamour became louder.
At the last, one was selected and he was slowly and securely marched by the rest of the survivors to the stasis booth and locked into it.
There a hum from the machine as it began to work and the struggles from inside the unit ceased as the conciousness was downloaded for storage.
After a few minutes a green light flicked on and the console gave a reading of the person held within. Now to find out what secrets he might hold.
Brain pattern held.... Name: Spike Passenger Status: Passenger Passenger Role: White Hat Passenger Ability: Vote Switcher
Chucara has been placed into stasis
Night 1 begins now. It will end on Friday 6th November at 20:00 GMT

The way he was behaving at the end he should have been third party, at least.

So, at the end, the votes on Chucara were:
dirx natlaw nphase sinjin skeezix special ed
I doubt storyteller's or chucara's votes counted toward the total, because the rules thread says that actions that take place on the deadline won't be counted.
I don't have anything specific to say about any of this, yet, but I wanted this somewhere at least semi-convenient to look over.

On the full reveal: that could mean the stasis gives a full flip, but kills might not. I wrote this before, but didn't see a reason to post it before Dusk: I really, really think Town needs this information, but after my unprovoked claim in Alpha Centauri, and the fallout from that, I'm really, really skittish about it. Which is why I've waited this long. Since we can talk strategy at Night and it doesn't look like you're up for lynch it could have waited. So you could post answer after Dusk for my part. Also for what reason do we need to know? If it is Third Party (as in wins-with-others) that alien is no immediate threat (until he decides to win with scum instead of town with a vote at lynch or lose). Or is a PFK (as wins-exclusively)? In which case it's not really needed to know either - as long as the game doesn't end we're still looking for one more scum or PFK. So why do we and scum need to know it? Is that 'a few Nights' just color or are you guaranteed to find him in X Nights? Do you mean "controlled" that the alien can redirect actions? Make other peoples posts/votes? Recruit?

I took it as she's trying to convince Scum not to kill her for a few nights. Hence telling everybody.

I'm doing my best to convey the information as clearly as possible without quoting from my role PM, which (just as a reminder) is against the rules. I am human, I am a Passenger, I can check for signs that a player has been tainted/corrupted by the alien in question. To me, this reads like there is either a recruitment mechanic going on, or else we have a mad bomber, but I can't say which for sure.
Yes, I was asking Scum to let me live for a few nights so I have the opportunity to investigate and try to find people who have been infected/the alien in question.

To clarify: I can confirm if someone has been affected by the parasite, but that does not mean that the person in question is the original parasite itself.

Which is why I've waited this long. Since we can talk strategy at Night and it doesn't look like you're up for lynch it could have waited. So you could post answer after Dusk for my part. I considered it. I went back and forth about a whole bunch of things regarding claiming at all. I hope I've answered this already. "A few nights" is just color. In the last situation like this one, where I was hunting aliens, I managed to nail the alien on the first Night but was NKed before I could relay that information to anyone. Maybe my "senses" are as good this game as they were then, maybe not. And as far as the "controlled" statement -- see my post at 3:43 p.m. I'm giving what information I can without directly quoting my role PM.

well that bites the big one.
quick question for sis. in your claim you reference "them" but you also seem to indicate "the alien". and i certainly don't want to go down the capitalization/grammar nonsense. but can you clarify to the extent possible without doing something non copacetic?

Actually, peek, that one I can clarify fairly readily:
I believe in using the singular they/them/their when speaking of a person whose gender is unknown to me (whereas I would use he/him/his or she/her/hers if speaking of a man or a woman respectively). So the "them" in the sentence
"I have the ability to track them down"
is in reference to the alien entity of unknown number and gender. As far as I know, there is only one alien (and I don't know if that person is male or female), but if it's a case of recruitment rather than tagging, there could eventually be multiple aliens.

[hijack with bonus short rant] We do have a singular non-gender related term we can use. "They/them/their." It was a perfectly serviceable and useful singular non-gender related pronoun in English until a bunch of people got together and decided that English should be codified along Latinate terms instead of along Germanic terms.
Which, you know, eventually English will pick up another singular non-gender related term or they/them/their will come back into vogue, because it's a living language and will also cheerfully knock out other languages and rifle their pockets for useful words. [/hijack]

Scum are lurking in the background? I thought nphase and Bill were leading your lynch as Scum.
It's not your outspoken-ness that has led to trouble. You may just be a Townie who changes their minds frequently and doesn't always explain things as fully as you shoud, but to an outsider, it really looks like you're just floundering around for the most convenient thing to get you out of the noose.
end of quote
this is ed's post #400. don't know how to quote across threads and to be honest with you.... i'll try but don't expect miracles.
once again crappy formatting: the above is by ed
hey, ed why the outsider comment?
