Why did I sign up for two games at once? I'm getting confused now, with the who's claimed what where. Augh.

Catching up again. (My schedule is not lending itself to frequent mafia play.) Pardon the lack of valid times, this board does not allow for easy quoting of closed threads. Who are you referring to as "someone who it is possible to confirm as town"? Chucara is the only one who's claimed a power and it doesn't lend itself to confirmation. redskeezix, you have not yet responded to my question. There are two problems with this, both of which suggest that the one person you should not be voting for is yourself. Real life might interfere. To take one possibility, your work chooses to block this site, without warning. You can't get back on. (This actually happened, to Hal.) There might be a player with a vote-freezing power; they can nominate a player and have their vote frozen on whoever they vote for first that Day. So, given all the bad things you imagine might happen, my voting for myself should show you how seriously I take returning to vote. I'm about to put the fox amongst the chickens, because I'm going to do what I'm very, very opposed to without a Damn Good Reason (like, about to be lynched good). Something I've already argued against in this game. I'm going to claim. But I'm going to claim because Town needs to know that there is likely a third party among us. My name is Lucy, and I am a specialist in alien life forms. There was a protean entity on the ship who I was trying to track down before we were attacked. It is possible, but unlikely, that this entity died in the attack. I have the ability to track them down, but it may take a few Nights. Unfortunately, I have no way to prove my claim without dying or finding the alien. If I'm reading my role PM correctly, I, personally, am immune to being "controlled" by the alien. I'm partially making this claim now to ask Scum not to kill me. You need me to find the parasitic alien as badly as Town does. I am Town, but both sides need me just at the moment. I really, really think Town needs this information, but after my unprovoked claim in Alpha Centauri, and the fallout from that, I'm really, really skittish about it. Which is why I've waited this long. I'm a proponent of early claims when it benefits the town to do so. (I feel too many players keep a close hand when it would help the town to play openly.) And if you're telling the truth, this is important information, especially in a closed setup. I've been making the case of my innocense for almost a week now, but for deaf ears. Even if I had a strong case, there would be no point. Most of my suspicion on nphase is based on how my words have been misunderstood and how bad he/she wants to lynch me. I doubt anyone would be swayed in the last 3 hours. I have no further case to make, but reserve the right to say "I told you so" I'm sorry you were lynched. I think you needed to be lynched eventually, unless confirmed by an investigator, but Day One was too soon, especially when we had much better candidates (by which I mean pedescribe). However, your self defense towards the end was looking very scummy. Townies don't need to struggle so much, especially in the early game when we have mislynches to spare. You'd've done better by making cases against other players rather than arguing about the details of the cases against you. In any case, we'll take a careful look at those lynching you. A no-card-flip game would be a game where there is no public reveal of the alignment or role of a player after his/her death. Pleonast's Conspiracy games have had delayed card flips, but I don't recall ever playing one where the alignment was literally never revealed. I would argue that no card flips would violate one of the fundamental premises of Mafia--the town trades numbers for information. Somehow the information from lynches and deaths has to make it to the town. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ A final note--it would be wise for every townie to post their thoughts now (before Dawn) since one of us will not get the chance to post after.

"I have the ability to track them down" is in reference to the alien entity of unknown number and gender. As far as I know, there is only one alien (and I don't know if that person is male or female), but if it's a case of recruitment rather than tagging, there could eventually be multiple aliens. It that alien is a bomber then it's good to know since it could win out of the blue (unlike a serial killer), especially if there is no other way to find out about it. Your claim makes more sense to me that way.

Day One vote count: Chucara (5): Redskeezix, Sinjin, nphase, Natlaw, Dirx pedescribe (4): Pleonast, Special Ed*, Sister Coyote, MHaye BillMc (3): Pedescribe, BillMc (forced), Kat! nphase (3): Storyteller*, shaggy, Chucara Natlaw (1): Idle Thoughts sinjin (1): peekercpa Guy Incognito (1): Guy Incognito No vote (2): hockeyguy, Boozahol Squid PI *) moved vote to Chucara at last minute (Story was too late) to prevent a last minute tie. Since Chucara was town, there was no downside for scum to do that. As for my own move of vote from pedescribe to Chucara: I thought I figured the reason why the moderator wouldn't give who-vote-who stats. Chucara vote for BillMc while telling me not to vote a claimed power role me keep it. It turned out wrong so I guess I should haven't trying to out-guess the moderator. With hindsight I think my vote would have been better kept on pedescribe (for the convenient half claim), although I agree with him that peekercpa's vote to get him to claim, not liking it and then going back to sinjin for ' waffling not having original thoughts' suspicious. The case against nphase I need to reread if I can see it as 'newbie scum tell'. As for the other voters for Chucara: sinjin, skeezix and Dirx - Yesterday hadn't a scum idea by sinjin and IIRC not much posts by Dirx. Also will have to reread their posts.

(Responding to one of my comments on why it's a mistake to vote for oneself.) So, given all the bad things you imagine might happen, my voting for myself should show you how seriously I take returning to vote. Indeed. But, at least one other player folllowed your example; however, far from returning to vote, Guy Incognito did not post even once more. Why leave yourself open to that problem (especially if you are, as you say, having a problem with getting time to play) when you don't have to?

<snip> redskeezix, you have not yet responded to my question. Yeah I was talking about Chucura, and my logic for thinking he was possible to be confirmed was based on reading the Disney game. I'm not quite sure how, but I got the mistaken impression that the town in that game had confirmed their politician. I was going to post the mechanism that they used to confirm him, but I couldn't find it, since they had just kept him on their "most likely to be town" lists not on their "confirmed" lists.
