I think its regular slow. I really do. Votes are starting to come out, people are starting to do things. There is a totally different rhythm to a no deadline game, and I think, a different opening Day strategy needs to be employed. The players will get there eventually.
In the mean time, I think that frequent vote counts will help keep the momentum up.

Ya know, I can never recognize you with that avatar. I'm too used to your Roland one. Dunno why. That is kind of funny, since I always think of you having the Quote one. I still have my Yoda one. I kind of like it.

We should take bets on when we think the Day will end. I'm going to guess 23 December 2009. I think the players will want to get the Day done by Christmas.

Price is right rules? (closest- but still under)
I'm saying new years. There's still 10 no-votes.

I think if they get everyone to vote for someone before the weekend is up they can move right along to the end of the Day before the end of next week.
I don't see that happening. I say January 10th. Christmas and New Years are going to grind the Day to a halt for a while.

well, I sent it to the mod, and didn't get told not to say it, so I'll say it here.
why is nobody even noticing Kat? Ped had a mod-confirmed lie that implicated someone as scum. Finding a post he wasn't supposed to see from hawk would mean he's either a mason or a scum, (since they're the only ones that would have a separate board).
BTW, I'm glad Tom finally admitted that he can't be recruited. It was flipping obvious from his "Stay on my side" post. It also seems obvious that recruitment is voluntary, or he wouldn't have needed to say anything. I don't think Tom would make a pure color post. It's not his SOP.
That's all I got. Everything else seems to be grasping at straws.

Hey everyone,
Well that was a read and a half. I do have to agree with others, why are they getting hung up on the hammer? I mean on FB almost all the games I played there had hammer mechanisms. Though they were more 55-60% of the vote instead of 35 but still. It really is only near the end of the game, providing you have most scum left that you need to really worry about them. After all scum would not hammer early in the game most times cause that would draw to much attention to your self.
Laughing at the whole fake voting....never really been one to see the point in that. And taking it one step further by the 4 level, really looks like a great way to create as much static in the thread as possible...on the other hand I think town is more likely to come up with wild ideas and draw attention to ones self then scum are. I can think of many cases where a ass and nine idea was purposed and the person ended up flipping town, so I think it is hard to say this is exactly scum telling...
Anyways just my 2 cents worth.

OK, this is painful. My apologies to everyone for creating a game that looks like it's going to be boring as hell to watch and play. If anyone has any suggestions how I can make this better without blowing up the setup, I'm all ears.

Haha, Tom Scud shouldn't be pointing to canon as hints to his powers, because I'm pretty sure canon also has a huge Iron Man / Captain America subtext. ;D

If anyone has any suggestions how I can make this better without blowing up the setup, I'm all ears. Eh. This week is going to be a wash no matter how you slice it. I think it is hard to assess whether this is holiday apathy or hey-there's-no-deadline apathy. If you conclude that the lack of deadline is screwing things up, I think you can impose a deadline/schedule without altering the gameplay at all. Just put in a deadline. You can even keep the hammer.

If anyone has any suggestions how I can make this better without blowing up the setup, I'm all ears. I have to disagree, though I only this morning started following...for me it is not boring at all, what it is, is interesting how they seem to be focusing on 2 issues. Being hammer and now faux votes. One of which I have seen the odd comment about but no where near this much conversation over and the other it is interesting that it was not a "newer" player to bring it up. But so far it is not really boring, just not the "typical" day 1 that you would think. OK, this is painful. My apologies to everyone for creating a game that looks like it's going to be boring as hell to watch and play. If anyone has any suggestions how I can make this better without blowing up the setup, I'm all ears. Eh. This week is going to be a wash no matter how you slice it. I would give my input but Sach here basically hit the nail on the head for exactly what I would say as well. I said above and will again...I learned to play on games with deadlines and hammers...so worst case scenario if you have no choice but to add one, it's not like it really gets screwy with things....unless you have players that some how depend on the long days but I would assume not. Eigther way I would say wait till after the holidays and then see from there, how it goes.

Yeah, story, I don't think this is nearly the disaster you think it is.
Wait until after the first week in January is over. If it looks like the game is dying step in then, but with the holidays and everything I don't think you can get a good read on what is going on.
Anyway, it's not boring to watch. I don't know how long it will stay not boring to watch, but for now, I am enjoying it.
If you were to do anything right now, I would say the best thing to do would be to stay on top of the vote counts. Frequent vote counts will help keep the players aware of the moves that are being made and remind them that nothing/something is happening.

One other suggestion:
You might want to open a new Day 1 thread. Unless the board no longer hiccups when threads get past 300 posts or so.

<font style="font-size: 12px;"> Claim time
I am Lucas Bishop.
I am the controller for the Green Gobling. Yeah, Norman Osborne is in the game and I know his identity He is currently town aligned and has a bag full of inventions. He has been implanted with nanites by S.H.I.E.L.D, and I have the control. Each night I choose his target. However the control is not complete, He gets to choose what gizmo to use (ie he chooses the action)
If I die the Goblin will have a chance to choose whether to switch alignment. I am not planning to reveal his identity as that would just make life easier for the recruiter I assume is out there.I believe this role is at least 90% truthful. It fits with Story's feelings on recruitment and the color is logical. However, there is nothing about this role that makes it a town role. Read it assuming Luvbwfc is scum. It still makes perfect sense. My vote stands. wait, what? No it doesn't. I don't remember who Hawk or Ed are, so maybe this is a scum ploy, but it really doesn't make sense as a scum role. You think any game designer is going to give scum control of a town power role, and the identity of that town power role? How could that possibly go wrong? MAYBE it makes sense as a third party thing, but not as scum. Not even a little.

No--the lie is that I didn't find out anything about the Hawk when I said I did. So that says nothing about Hawk. I get that, but I it's still implying that there's something bad about hawk, and I am surprised nobody even seemed to care. I'd expect someone to at least say, "Hey, Kat! You got any clue why ped would want to impugn hawk?" Since you are admitting it didn't mean anything, I guess it's a good thing it didn't happen, but it still surprises me. Every time I've watched a game, the players have been absolutely paranoid.

Ah, back to my typical Day one lynching. Good to be on familiar ground again. On the whole I'm not too upset. I think there were opportunistic votes a go-go on me and peeker's hammer whilst I still potentially had info to reveal was interesting. Lots of info for town to go forward with tomorrow. Looking forwward to seeing the night actions.

OK, well, then. This "No Deadline" thing was a fun experiment, but it appears to be failing miserably. Day Two started almost a real-life week ago and there are still only three votes on the record, each for a different player. At this rate, it will be next Christmas before the game ends, and I don't think it's at all fair to the other players or potential moderators.
I think it may be time to institute a deadline. Does anyone strongly disagree? Is anyone even still here?

I'm still here.
I say let it ride out and tell Idle and FCoD that you are willing to let other people run games alongside your game.
Of course I think that the game is still interesting, but I might be the only one.

you always say that. and for the record i love the hammer mechanism. it's just that a lot of these folks play not to lose rather than to win. apparently i had no problem with it.
