Six players answer a family feud style question, in attempts to win points. At the end of each round, one player is voted out of the game. Hopefully the voting will eliminate The Cheater, a player who has all the answers and point values before the game even began. If The Cheater wins, everyone else loses. All of the questions have been pre-written, and multiple answers exist for the question, however, not all answers will score points, I am working with a list of 10 per each question. Your answer may be valid, but if it is not on the pre-written list, it will score zero points. It is also important to note that less common answers will score higher points. This is exactly backwards from how Family Feud does it. "Dirty Rotten Cheater" If you are the one deceiving you may end up leaving. ---- Bear with me here folks, I have to introduce the game, explain the specific rules to this game, and take sign ups, all while hopefully answering questions. This will require multiple posts. For starters, here is a link to the game on Wikipedia. It was a game show that aired for 13 episodes on PAX TV [Now called ion TV] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Rotten_CheaterA quick YouTube search returns videos on " Dirty Rotten Cheater " I'm not sure if the game creator knew about Mafia, but the paradigm fits, and it is a common one around here. For that reason, I will use Mafia terminology from here on out, as the game takes a majority from Mafia, with some Family Feud thrown in. Once a round of voting gets under way, a Weakest Link vibe also works it's way into the mix This game needs six players. Five players will be vanilla town. The sixth player will be The Cheater or this game's version of scum. The Cheater has one special power, explained below, in bold. In addition to the standard "X wins once all Y is dead, Y wins once all X is dead" objective, a second objective also exists. All players are playing for the highest point total possible*. Therefore, a team win is possible, and personal win is also possible. Starting on the start of Day 1, and on the start of each Day after that, I will ask the players a Family Feud style question. At the start of Night 1 and the start of each Night after that I will award points to each player based on the popularity of their answer**. Example: Name a home Video Game console*** (This question will come up again in the second more detailed post) The Cheater already knew that this question would be asked. On top of that, he or she also has all of the answers I am looking for, in the exact order I will use for scoring. He or she could very well look on the list I gave them, and offer up a "guess" at the next available highest scoring answer. The Town, however will each have to fend for themselves on answering questions, with no collaboration. I will use a round robin system when accepting answers. You may not duplicate an answer already used. All of the questions score to a list of 10 answers. As we will never have more than 6 players, You will probably be able to supply an answer even if your first and possibly second answer are taken. Each player can only give one answer per Question / Day. After each living player has given an answer, I will begin Night by supplying the answer list for that day's question, and scoring the answers. Town will then VOTE AT NIGHT. Voting should be no different from regular Mafia style voting, Reasons on voting for, or not voting for a player are encouraged.Players are voting to lynch another player. As in [nearly] all Mafia games, Town wins once all scum have died. I will then reveal who did not survive the night, and reveal their allignment. Their point total will then freeze. Each player's point total at the end of the game is then compared, therefore; If Town wins, it might be possible for an already dead town player to obtain the personal win.* Meeko's track record on using the phrase "WIFOM" is spotty at best, but trust me. The "wine" will flow throughout this game. Open advice to "The Cheater" - It might NOT be a good idea to overshoot everyone, every round. ** As this is a proof of concept game, as a proxy to popularity, I am making and scoring my pre-made list based on my estimate on how common an answer would be, if asked to a given otherwise normal population. The more common an answer is, I believe it would stand to reason that more people would give it as an answer. If I asked you to name a Color, I would assume that Red would beat Aqua-Marine Blue and Macaroni-and-Cheese Yellow. An exaggerated Example, but the real questions afford a similar disparity. *** I wrote my example question in attempts to put this trial run up on the Dope. Only after I decided to pitch it over here, did I realize that our post count classification also utilizes video game consoles. Makes it all the better for an example question, I guess.

Hopefully with the legwork of the first post behind us, I can tie this all up now.
This game needs 6 players, 5 Vanilla town, 1 scum player, henceforth called "The Cheater."
At the start of each Day, one Family Feud style questions will be asked to all players.
Players then answer the family feud question to the best of their God, or otherwise given ability.
Players will answer in turn, in a round robin fashion, based on their sign-up position. You may not duplicate an answer.
Players can only answer once per day.
Please Use the following Syntax to Answer :
Answer: Sony Playstation [PS One]
Example [Ashley, Becky, Cindy, Dora, Erica are playing, in that order]
Name a Home Video Game console
Ashley could then post
Answer: Channel F
Becky could then post
Answer : Nintendo Entertainment System
Cindy could then post
Answer : Atari 2600
Dora could then post
Answer : Playstation 3
Erica could then post
Answer : Magnavox Odyssey
After everyone has given an unique answer, I will then provide the pre-written list of answers. Answers will be Ranked and Scored based on their rarity. [The more obscure an answer, the better.] Again, in future games, an actual survey can be taken ahead of time. The security of that survey before game play would be someone elses' can of worms, not mine.
Channel F 1,000 points Coleco-vision 900 points Magnavox Odyssey 800 points Vectrex 700 points Dreamcast 600 points PS3 500 points Xbox 360 400 points Wii 300 points Atari 2600 200 points Nintendo Entertainment System 100 points
The Cheater already was given this, and all other lists during Night Zero.
Players now get to vote on who they want to eliminate, attempting to eliminate The cheater.
Erica, Cindy, and, Dora all vote for Ashley. -Channel F? More like W T F, who could possibly know what that is, unless they were the cheater? Certainly they must be scum... Scummy McScumalot. Down With Ashley!!
Ashley Votes for Dora. -Playstation 3?, that seems to be a verry middle of the road answer, No one would suspect it, so it would be the best answer for that scummy McScumalot Cheater Dora.
Becky votes for Cindy. - Atari 2600 eh? That seems as much as a given as my answer, but it's slightly older... figured you could ride my coat tails and sneak in an easy answer? I bet Cindy is The Cheater, she Has a C in her name.... must be for a reason, that Scummy McScumalot!
The game kicks in, when you consider that Ashley was not The Cheater, but has a Copy of High Score! An Illustrated History of Electronic Games and decided to chance it, offering the oldest system she found in there [Page 29, --It's a good book to own.] Too bad her gamble didn't pay off, as she was voted off. At least she will have her 1000 points when it comes time to determine who had the personal win.
In fact, Erica was the Cheater. It turns out She didn't know anything about video game systems, but figured a high end answer on a system she barely remembers her neighbors had back in the 70s would be a good guess as any. Some video game nerd would come along to start a band wagon on, right?
Dora might have picked up a tell on Erica, but she might decide to vote Ashley now, and vote Erica in the next round, so she could have a better chance to obtain the personal win.
I did mention that this game will have a LOT of wine in it, right?
If an answer is not on the list, it scores 0 points. The 3Do flopped in real life, and it flops on our list as well. The Nintendo 64 had some Great games on it, even if it was still cartridge based [Really Nintendo?] but the list can only hold 10 answers game systems from not too recent memory didn't have enough muster for me. The Vectrex was a fugly all in one .... thing, but at least it would have offfered up 700 points. Only answers on the list will be scored. I will be doing my job right if I allow for the right mix of well knowns and "I totally forgot that X was a Y" responses.
At Day, A question is asked. Players answer. At Night, scores are given out, players vote to eliminate a player. The next Day, that player's allignment is revealed, their points are frozen. A new Question is asked to the remaining players.
This *should* be enough details to get us started. I believe I covered everything that I believe needs to be covered. As always feel free to add in your rationales for acting the way you do in game. Throw in your jokes etc.
One Final Post from me to get this all together, relate it back to Mafia again, and take Players.

This game needs exactly 6 players, A player is eliminated to start each Day, Starting with Day 2.
One player will obtain a PM with his or her Cheater [Scum] Information. If You do not recieve a PM for me for this game, you are vanilla town. The role of cheater will be randomly selected.
Due to the Questions asked in this game, You May NOT edit posts. Once you supply an answer, you may not "" Un-answer "".
You may talk at any time Day or Night.
Durring the day, please answer the question in turn, using the syntax
Answer : Super Nintendo
Durring the Night, please vote in the standard
Vote : Meeko
UnVote : Meeko [/b] The scum player has perfect information on the game, but has discretion on how to use it, as to not give tells.
Town wins once the Scum player, The Cheater is lynched.
Scum wins if he or she survives all rounds of voting*
*The final round of voting will allow for EVERYONE, dead or alive to vote. If there is a tie after the vote, the player with the highest point total will cast a second vote to break the tie.
It Is my intention to have Day be shorter than Night, as Day is very straight forward. Night will allow for the Mafia Gaming goodness we are all used to. I am open to limits here, but I think a 1:2 ratio would be good, and I am considering 24 real-world hours for Day, followed by 48 real-world hours for Night. I am based in Eastern Time Zone US, and it works best for me to base game time from Midnight Eastern. (To avoid confusion I will use 11:59 instead of actual midnight. e.g Day will start at 11:59 pm Eastern on Sunday Night.)
Hopefully This game will go as smooth as it did for its 13 Episode run on National TV. (Perhaps that's that as good as it appears.)
Again, This is a beta test, and I will take comments after we are done.
Dirty Rotten Cheater Beta Test : -------------------------------- 1. Total Lost 2. NAF 3. Special Ed 4. Sister Coyote 5. Cookies 6. Red Skeezix

Ok.
I wrote all of this out ahead of time. If I forgot something please let me know.
Also, Go ahead and ask questions. I am willing to bet that I forgot something.
And also, How long should we make Day and Night?
How can we do Round Robin answering, with time zones out of whack?

I'm not signing on (sorry, Meeko, just too much going on right now), but I will say that this looks intriguing. No problem here Coyote, I'm surpriised you made it for all of Dark Mirror. Well, you know what I mean. You said you wouldn't be able to make it for that one, due to personal matters. Sitting this one out is understandable.

Good, you already have me down as in. This look neat. You seemed to strongly imply you wanted an In. I'm sure it will work, we just need to get the first or second round down, and then it should go well. NAF, any ideas on how long to make "Day" and "Night" and how to address the answering of questions? round robin would be nice, just don't know how that can happen, unless the Answer round is like a IRL week.

Well, I think that Nights should be the length of a typical Day since that is where the voting happens.
For the questions, maybe you can do something where you post all the questions at once and then give the players the typical 48 hours of "Night" to post their answers. All answers have to be posted in one post, if you duplicate an answer (by simulposting) you have the chance to answer just that question again before the 48 hours are over. Answers are taken on a first come first served basis.

All answers have to be posted in one post, I feel there is a huge part of the game this would short change.

Fair enough. But I think some variation on the above probably is where the workable part of the game lies. What do you think about the rest?

Before I can answer that, I want to clarify.
Between voting to lynch, a player will only be able to supply One answer, to One Question. You can not duplicate an Answer, if you do, you will hear this sound, and I will ask you to answer again.
[Yes, I watch a lot of game shows.]
I was thinking 3 RL days for Day. amd 4 RL days for night. Remember that most of Night will be needed to explain and reason out who is who.

If you're going to give this a go, Meeko, I'll play. It sounds interesting. I am having internet trouble currently, will add you to the list when I can. I plan to do it, and again this is a trial, but I know it can be done, I've seen it be done before, and I think it will be a great idea and will live long here, on on the Dope. [Feud is big over there, and how many of us cut our teeth on SD?]

Yes, well, for me, the personal insults via PM by a couple of players who were upset that they weren't on my friend list was enough for me. As if I could be threatened into becoming friends with someone. But still, it took the joy out of the game to have to sift through all the childish stuff going on.

Speaking of sticking to the topic at hand, should I start a fresh Sign Up post?
I would approve the Facebook, if it was just us. But, it would appear that it is not. Therefore I am inclined to pass on the offer.
Again, this is a trial run game, and I don't want to blow my, or the board's reputation on a failed premise [No offense to Blokey] to newcomers.
I can wait a few more weeks here. The game is somewhat automatic, and the questions aren't linked to current events. [That Much]
