Did my role (Jubal Early) really give River a pointy blade? Sure enough. Here is the PM I received that night: "You have been located by the bounty hunter, Jubal Early. With his assistance, you are able to kill a single person that you feel deserves to die. On the Night that you wish to use this ability, please PM me the name of the player you'd like killed. You cannot use this ability while you are hiding." I questioned if Jubal's death would prevent me from gaining this assistance, but was told that no, the "assistance" could be a weapon or some other object. Hal, what ability did I give you that last Night? Sorry you didn't get to use it, whatever it was. As nesta notes there, I lied about staying hidden for the rest of the game. I was nervous that this could be an alliance trap, but I decided to see how I could be "fixed". Here is the PM I received: "You are nervous about remaining available for the Night, and even more nervous when you are contacted by your former tormentor, Dr. Mathias. You send him away, but he insists on leaving you with some of the equipment that he used to locate you, in the hope you can put it to use. You will be able to use this equipment to investigate a single person. on the Night that you wish to use this ability, please PM me with the name of the player to be investigated. You cannot use this ability while hiding." Now that that's all out of the way: WOOHOOOO!! GO TOWN!!

Yay crew!! Way to go, even though your captain bought it early. Also, I'm having the same problem as Roosh in accessing the scum boards.

Ok I am still confused about a couple of things:
1) Why were Roosh and Idle confused about their role pms vs Dnooman's pm? When I read Dnooman's claim it seemed totally clear to me we were on the same side. Subsequent posts made by Roosh and Idle made me think they were totally on a different team. Was it just the Alliance Citizen thing? And when NAF posted a clarification why didn't that clear it up for you? NAFKat can you post the role pms that went out or direct me to where they are posted?
2) Roosh, what were you trying to achieve by getting killed on Day one? Yeah, you had a good guy name and were crew aligned, so what? Your death would have told the town nothing, except that you were lying about your power.
I was also posting slightly wildly then because I figured at least if I got lynched it would prove your name theory false. At the time I thought my minor power was stupid, find River, yes or no. Then I searched mafiascum and found out about the Dr/psychopath relationship and thought, wrongly, that my role was to switch River from an SK to a vig or townie. That's when I sort of went underground so as not to get lynched. But I still can't get my mind around why you wanted to be killed? Just to taunt Spiff with your bow and arrow? What would that accomplish? Or was I just wooshed?

Oh, I know what the problem is now. You all need to register to see the scum boards. Well, you did. But I'm about to change it so anyone can see it (even as a guest) right now.
But yeahhhh...I think that's what the problem was.

My PM said my alignment was "Crew". Dnooman said his alignment was "Alliance Town". And then, Dotchan started talking about how we were narrowing it down down for scum who the "vanilla" Townies were by saying they/we were Crew. However since I was Crew yet I wasn't vanilla, I surmised her PM must read different than mine. Because otherwise she'd have known that power roles exist also with a "Crew" alignment.

Here is my role PM word for word:
So you see, there is no mention of the word "vanilla" there at all. Dotchan specifically said the word Vanilla and matched it up with "crew alignment". But not all the players with alignment of "Crew" were vanilla. So I figured she had to have a different PM than mine own.
Hope that's a bit clearer.

Yay. I can see the scum boards now. Thanks. I'm curious if people think I should have claimed after I successfully investigated Klutz. I was really unsure on if it would have been advantageous for me to come out and reveal myself so quickly, especially with the rampant claiming going on that first Day.

Thanks Idle and here is mine:
I guess because I was a bad guy working for the Alliance in the 'tv/movie' but aligned with Crew in the game and had the same win condition as Dnooman it was easier for me to see we were on the same team. It would be harder for the real 'firefly' crew people to grasp that alliance 'tv/movie' folks could be also be Crew in the game.

Well, I also heard that some people had the alignment of: Vanillia Crew....so that might have caused other confusion.

Congrats to the townies. Thansk to the Evil Mods for, well, moderating ;D Does anyone have any idea how frustrating it was to have gotten the totally cool SK role, and have it cut short! I just had a quick look at the scum board, and I am amazed at the stuff that gets latched onto as 'tells'! Oh well.

Hooray for us!
It's kind of interesting that the only survivors of the series Crew were River and Simon. Seems kind of Whedonesque to do that (kill off the originals, set up a new series where River beats up everyone, and Simon takes care of her.)

1) I thought I was vanilla townie, but my Role said "Crew" and it said kill all alliance. That's why my confusion was there. Because I WAS a crew member, and I was Crew. So the idea of nonCrewmembers being on the Crew side didn't make sense. Hence the disbelief of Ramiro as a "vanilla" claim. As i didn't see vanilla, and I didn't see crew.
2) Roosh, what were you trying to achieve by getting killed on Day one? -I figured I was too much of a distraction at that point, and had to die. My ideas were being ripped apart, and I wanted to show they were TOWNIE ideas and not just some idea that scum would think of. By death, town would see my ideas were a Pro-TOWN creation. Also, I realized that i would become an EASY target for scum EVERY day to bring up if they wanted to (because they could just point to my Day 1 postings to say I was scummy). Ui did this, and others did too, and so I realized that if I was still alive, the longer it went on, the more of a liability i would be to the town, as scum would have an easy place to place the Scum-Guilt. So i needed to get rid of that WIFOM. Easiest way: Death.
Your death would have told the town nothing, except that you were lying about your power. See Above. And Plus: --The power thing was an attempt to get me lynched. I didn't think anyone would BELIEVE me. My goal was to create an incredulous role claim and get lynched for it. I didn't think of Joss Wedon, otherwise I woulda done that. But then I was interrupted and when I came back, I saw I wasn't a suspect anymore. So there was no need to try to martyr myself anymore.
I was also posting slightly wildly then because I figured at least if I got lynched it would prove your name theory false. --So you were trying to get yourself lynched too? Then you understand. If you had died, I would have realized my ideas were false. But the only way to get to that point was SOMEONE had to die to provide information. I feared the Town was simply going to vote NO LYNCH on Day 1, which is INCREDIBLY stupid. So i figured, at least A vote is better than none. Even if I have to be the lychee. It's gonna give the town info.
But I still can't get my mind around why you wanted to be killed? Just to taunt Spiff with your bow and arrow? What would that accomplish? Or was I just wooshed? Yeah. That was a semi whoosh I guess. The death thing is... If i'm gonna die (I've already explained my reasonings for my death above, this is purely the 2nd part of the Q), I wanted to die in STYLE. I'd do it my way. And I figured, why not target the scummiest people and see if I could get them to slip up, and confess they were scum. Or at least see who Agreed/Disagreed with the tactics to give MORE INFORMATION to the town before I went out. But mostly the bow and arrow would have been for my own enjoyment. Because i find it hilarious.

Try comparing it to my exceedingly vanilla town PM and you can possibly see why I knew dnooman was town from the way he claimed You are Hoban Washburne (What do you mean who? Okay, then, you're Wash). You're the pilot of Serenity. You get to sit in the pilot chair and play with toy dinosaurs, but other than that, you don't really get to do much. (Yes, that means you're a Vanilla Townie).
Character: Wash Role: Vanilla Crewperson Alignment: Crew Win condition: All Alliance are dead and yes, I got the clarification PM as well. Once he mentioned the PM, he was effectively mod-confirmed to me.
