I'm enjoying watching to see how differently everyone thinks. I'm surprised that the players perceive the lynch conditions are anti-town. I suppose to some extent different might equate to anti-town, but forcing a consensus is better than letting a minority decide the lynch. It forces more discussion and half the town needs to be convinced that someone should die. I guess the paranoia that people will use the new rule as an excuse to vote for someone is valid, but really, the idea is probably better for the town than not. Totally agree. When I first started playing, I hated the rule. I thought it was very much in favor of the mafia. After seeing how alternate rules play out, with ~20% of players controlling a lynch, I firmly believe that the rule in place is the most pro-town rule possible, as it forces interaction more than anything else. After M2 I promised myself that the next game I modded would have this sort of rule set. It was one of the first things I talked to Kat about. I am amazed that it took the town as long as it did to try to contact the Mods about the rule question. I figured I would have a dozen PMs about it when I got back online, but I didn't even have one. If I was in the game I would think that the people in that discussion were all scum. I think I will post the player/role list at the end of the Day in here. But Sach, JS who do you think has what role at this point? And Roosh just might lose the game for the town if he mananges to convince them to go with him. Poor Roosh, it is a good idea...but such a bad one.

The way the votes are spreading out is interesting. 10 people have voted so far, and there is no one who has more then 3 votes.
The town is getting VERY bogged down in semantic argument. And, as usual, all the people drawing fire and shooting off votes are town.
Only 2 scum have even voted, and I think almost no power roles have voted.

I can see dnooman as SK, based on that slip. But it's not a sure thing by any means. Other than that, I have no real reads as scum. I suspect the scum are lurking at the moment, trying to gather info from careless townie tongues.

This would be a good guess. None of the loud voices are scum.

I do think that one scum has already made a slip that could give them away, but only because it is a timing issue.
One player posted to the whole "what does majority vote mean" after it was clear that only Idle was having a real problem with the concept, and seemed to be proposing a third conflicting theory in hopes of continuing the confusion.
We will see if that comes back to bite them later. I am thinking it won't, but you never know.

Now that I've seen the concept in action (via Roosh), I think I may be beginning to understand the name-claim problem (just starting, because I'm a moron, you see).
So, I'm gonna have to exalt JSexton a few more times for the role setup.

I do find it interesting how everyone is applying their own preconceptions to the setup, some right, some waaaaayy off-base.

Hockey and Zuma are town. Willing to wager on that one. Correct! So how did you figure that? Their reactions to the speculation of the setup. None of the scum roles would make that post. Dnooman is probably yosaffbridge, upon reflection. He wouldn't make that post as SK or mafia, but that role pm might be ambiguous enough to mislead him. diomedes is smelling like scum. His vote on Idle reeks of opportunism, and over-awareness. Story and Roosh both read as town. Mad...man, is he hard to read. He feels like scum, but he always does, so that's probably meaningless. He is pretty clearly untruthful about Story, though.

Yeah, I don't know what Mad is playing at, but then again I have never been able to figure that out. The Dnooman thing is confusing to me as well. he is vanilla, so I don't understand why he would make that post. Maybe it was a gambit to see if others would out themselves that backfired? I think the scum, on the whole are doing a nice job of being present without drawing attention to themselves. It is a hard trick to pull off, so I commend them for that.

As far as I know Kat didn't change this too much.
Vanilla: You are (inset name here). You are a hardworking Alliance citizen, just trying to live your life. You have no special abilities.
Character: (insert name here)
Role: Vanilla Crewperson
Alignment: Crew
Win condition: All Alliance are dead

What? You really told them "When all alliance are dead"? Yeah, you think that is the nature of the confusion? Well, yeah. In the first line, you told them that they're alliance. In the last line, you told them to kill all alliance. IOW, you told them that they have to die in order to win. I'm not surprised that dnooman thinks it's every man for himself. Also, what about the alliance town? When they claim, they're going to get lynched because that's what the townie pm says. This is pretty serious, actually.

All right, dnooman has it out in the open now. Hopefully this gets salvaged quickly.

Actually, I got a question about that from, I think it was storyteller, and sent a followup PM to all the vanillas that people with alignment Alliance needed to be dead, and their alignment was Crew. Do you think I should clarify further?

Well, I knew perfectly well what it meant. Their own fault for not reading my mind!*
*I had to deal with this mindset twice at work today. It's more fun being on this side of it.

You don't get paid enough to be my copy editor. Honestly, I annoy a crapload of people with "Can you read this over before I send it out?" It looks like dnooman is managing to salvage it, which I'm glad about.

I don't think the game is even close to being broken. It is interesting that people are freaking out about it.
Kat did you get zuma's pm too, we should discuss that also. I will pm you with more thoughts later before I go to bed. We do need to impose some sanction of some sort, but I think not on Dnooman.

Whoa. That's quite a ballsy claim from Roosh, assuming he is Inara and the role didn't change dramatically from before.

He PM'd me to ask permission too, which I thought was nice. He doesn't know that he is the backup cop, so he might regret this later.

He PM'd me to ask permission too, which I thought was nice. He doesn't know that he is the backup cop, so he might regret this later. He doesn't know that? Oh. Well, then that's an even weirder claim. I figured he was trying to save his skin long enough to activate as cop. Roosh is crazy.
