Klutz archived the missing Day. Check it out here, but don't share with the town. He thought to make the save, so I figured I would honor that request. members.pcug.org.au/~pfoster/misc/ The town will get to see it after he is dead.

I'm wondering why you don't make the information public. Isn't the information supposed to be freely available?

Ditto. I get why Klutz wants to keep it to himself, but I think it goes against the spirit of the game.

Because it apperantly gives klutz away (I haven't actually read it, so I don't know how true this is. Haven't had a chance.) And he feels that only a non townie would have waited this long to turn it over.
When I take a look at it I will see if I think it really does give him away, if I think it doesn't I will see if I can talk him into giving it up OR if one of you can copy it to your computer and want to post it, feel free.
I figure it is his hard drive he is letting us look into and if he doesn't want to share the info with the game at large until after he is dead he doesn't have to.

I might be able to put it somewhere, but does the file itself give him away or just the location of the file? Clearly we would need to put it somewhere unassociated with Captain Klutz, and I might be able to help with that. He is correct, I'd be very suspicious why he would have waited. I'll look through the file tonight, I haven't read all of Day One anyway.

Oh baby. Yeah, the files themselves give away Captain Klutz pretty clearly as the webpage so graciously welcomes him and informs him of his PM status. If I we were to make the information public, there is extraneous stuff that needs to be redacted.

The files are clearly his, now that I look at them. Since he was logged in, his name's at the top. That could be manually edited out, though. Are there any other indicators?

That's the only indicator I can find, which I could easily fix.
...wait. Shit. Since you can modify your own posts, his posts would be the only ones with an modify and delete button...yeah, an attentive reader would notice that. That's harder to fix, but still doable.
Before I go that much effort, NAF, are we going to post them? I'd be happy to host it.

I can't remove the incriminating evidence. I thought I could just go in and remove the Captain Klutz text at the top and meta-data, but I see now that the little icons next to the user's posts are different for the logged in user. i.e., all of Captain Klutz's posts will have the modify and delete options next to them. No way I'm cleaning all that up. Presumably the karma smite/exalt options would give him away too.
Looks like Day One stays hidden until Captain Klutz dies.

JSexton, Stuff that would need to be fixed each page: Two metadata instances, one 'captainklutz' and one 'Captain Klutz' Text greeting Captain Klutz. All instances of modify and delete. Either deletion of Exalt|Smite from everyone else or addition of Exalt|Smite to Captain Klutz. That's what I see so far, I'm worried we might miss something.
Oh, I guess online/offline information should be removed as well, since someone enterprising could deduce the user is Captain Klutz by process of elimination.

Probably the timestamps, too. Isn't Captain Klutz in Australia? If he's got his profile set up to show the timestamps on each post at his local time, someone's likely to notice.

Heh, by the time we clean up all the files Captain Klutz might be dead already.

sach is right, there's more clues. More than is really worth the effort. I've got them ready to publish as soon as he's dead, though.
