Everyone gathers together in the hall to celebrate the Feast of High Holy Days. After yesterDay's failure to kill crazypunker, you've begun to hope that you all will not turn on each other again. The spread of food is sumptuous, so enticing that no one is speaking a word. You try to share your thoughts, and realizes that although there is noise, you cannot make yourself heard, you cannot hear your voice, and you do not hear the others' voices either. You make gestures to say you have lost the power of speech, and the others are making the same gestures. Now that you have lost your power of speech, words, and perhaps also memory, how can you tell what was there outside? You are all trying to explain something to the others with gestures and grimaces to no avail. Spying the deck of tarot cards the lord of the manor used, you have an idea. Eventually you make clear to the others that you believe the cards can be used to tell your stories. Through pointed fingers, Inner Stickler is chosen as the first to tell his story. He throws down a single card: XXI. The World. He then stands, showing his deformed foot, the disfigurement of which is clear even through its thick wrappings. He hops forward, gesticulating wildly, seemingly trying to tell the story of how he became a gimp. As he waves his arms about, he loses his balance, and topples forward. He falls too rapidly for anyone to catch him, and his head thuds on the ground sickeningly. The card he had pulled out earlier flutters from the table landing on Inner Stickler's still body.
Inner Stickler, vanilla Town, has been lynched.

Happy New Year's to all of our East Coast and European brethren!
Still 3 hours to go for us Left Coasters...
I'll take this opportunity to make the rather embarrassing confession that I was in my late 20s before it dawned on me that when we watched Dick Clark counting down the ball drop every year, that we were watching on 'tape delay'...

There is not a smiley to convey the fact that it is the new year so - woooooooooooo. Bouncey furry thingy will have to convey it as well as it can.

happy new year to all.
but ....
does anyone else wonder why it is MERRY christmas and HAPPY new year as opposed to HAPPY christmas and MERRY new year? it has alwyays perplexed me. i mean the first sounds natural and the second sounds funky. gotta figure that one out. seriously, it seems that christmas should be happy (based on the birth of our lord) and new years should be merry since have the folks are about as merry as they will ever get. seems all kind of backwards. gotta posit this.
man i have a lot on my plate to start the new year.

YAYYY wait wasn't 2010 the start of the new decade. I thought decades went from 0 to 9 not 1 to 0.

YAYYY wait wasn't 2010 the start of the new decade. I thought decades went from 0 to 9 not 1 to 0. How could they?
When this calendar was set, the people responsible didn't know there was such a thing as 0. As a result, they started counting at I.
(The fact that their calculations were out by four years or more is another story. We're actually in about 2017 or so.)
You can call any contiguous 10-year period "a decade," but the calendar decades finish in years ending in 0.

Don't follow my example. Editing is bad.
Also, the ghost tag seems to have died. Dammit.

Don't the Brits say Happy Christmas? Yeah, but Merry Christmas has sneaked its way into the culture as well now.

Happy New Year - or as we say here: Godt Nytår! It's my favorite night of the year: Fireworks, champagne and a very new year to make all kinds of mistakes and mess up (I love the fact that non of the mistakes or messes are mine yet )

Don't the Brits say Happy Christmas? John Lennon did. (Too bad he couldn't say (sing?) it without Yoko screeching in the background.) (Not that the song would have been all that good anyway.)
