You awake, prepared to face the grim spectre of Death once again, feeling slightly guilty at your own joy at being alive, although the guilt does not diminish your joy. You make your way to the grand hall once again, no longer even bothering to hope against hope that no dead bodies will greet you, only hoping that those you favor will have survived the Night.
You enter the hall, surprised to see that the lord of the castle occupies the head of the table this morning. The breakfast is far more sumptuous than any you've seen so far, and you know this place well enough to wonder what new horror this portends. You look at the company that sits at the table, and see that the number remains the same as yesterDay, save for one missing person.
You have had enough. "Who have you taken from us toDay, you monster?" you scream at the lord of the castle. "I am beginning to believe that you are in fact the murderer here, and that we are all your pawns!"
He laughs, and says nothing. As you gather yourself to demand that he release the lot of you, you hear the chamber doors open, and turn to look. A horrifying creature has walked through the door, and is now striding toward the table. You could swear that it was XV. The Devil himself, if the devil were a gigantic red cat with horns and a murderous rage in his eyes. As the creature approaches the table, you can feel heat emanating from it, and you no longer doubt that this is at least a demon of hell, if not the Dark Prince himself.
The creature's mouth opens, and little bits of flame lick at its lips. You brace yourself for immolation, thinking, at least I'll finally get out of this horrible place. Instead of the blast of fire you expect, the creature begins to speak.
"III. Empress of the Dark, I seek you. Come forward."
As if in a trance, Renata rises from her seat. "I serve you, Dark Lord."
The creature laughs, and the flames coming from its mouth almost reach Renata. "Bow before me then!" it commands. Renata drops to her knees, and before she can fully bow, fire leaps forth from the creature's mouth and envelops her. The flames grow and grow, until you can no longer see either of them. You cover your face against the unbearable heat, terrified of what new Dark powers may come of this unholy union.
The heat dies down, and only silence can be heard. Warily, you open your eyes, but the Devil has gone, and so has Renata. In the place where both once stood, there is only texcat, looking a little sheepish, but also beaming with pride. "Hey guys."
The lord of the castle claps slowly, three times. "Well done, friends, well done. I hope you've enjoyed your stay. Journey safely."
The doors to the chamber open, and instead of seeing the blank stone wall of the hallway as usual, the doors seem to lead to the forest. Could those trees and grass and clear blue sky be real, or is this just another illusion? They are real. You are free.
Renata, Vanilla Scum, has been killed.
Town wins. Hockey Monkey wins.

Fun game, thanks bufftabby!
I still didn't have it right -- what happened on N4. Total redirected metallic's block to me. I guess that's good -- I didn't kill Suburban after all.
And I was right, the scum had decided that Guiri was vanilla on N1, but still killed him anyway. A good move by scum, but I thought they'd leave vanilla Guiri alone with so many other targets.
And well done Brewha (and peeker), killing Total yesterday! She had moved off my radar, but not off Guiri's, so I might have gotten around to her eventually, but it definitely would have taken a while.

Wow, I totally don't deserve a share of the win in this one, but I'll take it.
I see I took a bit of criticism in the Spoiled thread for misleading the Town about the specifics of my restriction, but I disagree and think lying about the restriction was the one and only good thing I did all game.
When I initially claimed a restriction, my intent was to be vague long enough for the Scum to start wondering whether my restriction might come with a power, and kill me for it. Seems like a vanilla with a vote restriction can do nothing more useful then get himself Night killed. But I missed the "no post restriction" thing in the rules, so when it came out I wound up having to reveal much more than I ever planned to.
At that point, I had to choose. I could reveal the details of my restriction. This would have done one thing: Gotten me lynched. Had I revealed the relatively minor nature of my post restriction, given the amount of to-do that blew up over it, I am absolutely certain the Town would have worked itself up to lynching me. I realized three things:
1. If it appeared that I couldn't vote except in extraordinary circumstances, the Scum would certainly leave me alive until endgame. Had I been Scum and suspected that a particular Townie was voteless, I'd have left him/her for endgame. Get down to three Town and two Scum, then the Scum can vote in concert without even trying to be covert. In such a situation, my vote could have been useful.
2. I knew if I lied, as long as I kept it simple and straightforward, I couldn't ever be caught in the lie. I decided to simply play as if I had no vote at all.
3. I knew that, as long as I didn't add any additional fuel to the fire, there wasn't quite enough momentum to lynch me to get me lynched. I had to pick a clear, simple story, stick to it, and convince my team-mates to move on to something else. At bare minimum, I avoided being lynched, which would have been a mislynch, so... I'm happy with the fib. Especially since:
3A: The Town suffered absolutely not at all from not knowing the true details of my restriction. My experience playing this game has given me somewhat more sympathy for some of Pleonast's default positions - really, the Town just wanted to know because it bugged them that they didn't.

Well done Town! I'll take full credit for spotting NAF as Scum based on an early Day 1 "lynch the lurker" vote. Other than that stroke of pure luck, I was completely clueless the entire game. At least I drew a Night Kill this time instead of getting myself lynched

I was sure I'd have to find another avatar for this game. And that would have been a shame - your avatar is so cool and makes me laugh every time I see it. This was my very first game ever where I enjoyed being scum. Thanks for the game everyone and thanks for my wonderful death-scene oh beautiful and sexy Mod

*sigh* And all my mental struggle is for naught. Good job, texcat. And yes, Guiri is without doubt The Winner of this game. Congrats to the town as a whole and thank you to bufftabby and my teammates.
The timing of this game was rather horrible for me, but oh well.

Great shooting TexCat! 3 out of 3 must be a record!
I enjoyed this game, the color and especially the role - thanks Buftabby and TexCat!
I can't help but wonder if 2 virtual-masons with off-board communication and a Night-kill/protect option is somewhat overpowered. Once the masons were out and mahaloth was lynched, I doubt anyone even noticed, not to mention looked for, a link between TexCat and me. Having two sets of suspicions to compare and contrast, along with the unanimous decision to protect or kill, made an enormous impact on our Night choices. I would have happily vigged Hockey Monkey or crazypunker (and possibly a few others) to simply tie up those loose ends but when faced with the choice of killing for information or trying to nab a scum based on the combined suspicions of two players, it became a no-brainer to attempt the latter.
I hope our success at killing scum didn't cause some players to lose interest in the game. I can't believe Total was lynched with just 2 votes in a 3-way tie with 5 non-voters and 2 non-participants!

I wanted to bash my head against the wall when I logged in and saw that.
I honestly do think town was overpowered. Your roles plus three regular masons was FIVE self-confirming town. And brewha was apparently bulletproof, so make that SIX, if he had ever been attacked. SEVEN if crazypunker had.
That takes nothing away from the performance of you two. A townie tour-de-force. And the game was enjoyable regardless, which is what really matters. At least I got one townie mislynched by my efforts (paranoia). It's actually been a while since I've done that in such a direct fashion.

I can't believe Total was lynched with just 2 votes in a 3-way tie with 5 non-voters and 2 non-participants! This. I couldn't believe this. But, If Renata hadn't been killed, this game could have gone on for much longer. I didn't suspect her in the least. I probably would have campaigned against those people who gave me so much guff over voting for Total. Great game! Thanks Buffy!

I had planned a no-kill; thought that might get me a mislynch if Squink hadn't roleblocked me; and given I figured Hockey Monkey was sure to be lynched before game's end anyway if I lived that long, a single no kill wouldn't affect the number of not-me lynches needed.
At least I didn't have to use the fake claim I finally settled on yesterday afternoon; I can save it for next time, haha.

Hey Buffy, I did want to clarify on my role as the Chariot. I took the description to mean that I was impervious to all actions except for a lynch. I can't believe that I wasn't targeted at all. What a waste of a cool role!
