I'd like to join in on this round, if it's possible. =) Now only possible - but a pleasure Welcome to idlemafia.com!!! Is this your first game of mafia or have you played other boards before? As Paranoia has alluded to, I have about three years of mafia playing experience. I have just never played here.

OK, maybe the filters were a bad idea, eh? I've got no problems with the filters, we need a little more class up in here anyway. I'm just messing with you.

As Paranoia has alluded to, I have about three years of mafia playing experience. I have just never played here. If this is too condescending, feel free to tell me to shut the hell up. I don't know how many other sites you've played at... if this is the second, please be prepared for a different playstyle. Each mafia circle has it's own "rules" regarding what is Town Behavior and what is Scum Behavior. We may do things quite different from where you played before. We'll probably be suspicious of you for reasons you don't understand, and several of us will probably do things that seem like insanity to you. Please be ready for that, and don't chalk it up to mean scum behavior or mean that we're out to get you. We'll do our best to do the same. Again, I don't mean this to be talking down to you, or anybody else that's playing here for the first time. It's just that coming into a new environment can be rocky for experienced players that are used to another playstyle (see molefan here, or fruitbat on giraffeboards), and if you aren't ready for that, meltdown can ensue. Other than that, welcome! Please report to room 4 for your jumpsuit, then we'll get started with the squid.

On another board I lurk at, no-lynch is the standard for Day 1, for example. tHAT JUST SEEMS WEIRD HERE,

I know that my own playstyle is something that, while feared on my homebase, is actually really scummy just about everywhere else. ^_______^ I enjoy a decent challange. The only thing that I would need to worry about are mandatory votes. Like, you have to vote or you die things. 'Cause I have a habit of just not voting a lot. Thank you for the welcome!

Double post is very common. Triple post is mainly Mr. Ed and NAF (not playing in this game). Multi post will mostly be peeker - we should try and count and see what he's record is... Must be the Christmas greetings in buffs game. I think he made it to 7 posts in a row

I remember the first time I saw Monty Python's Holy Grail. I hurt myself laughing.

Double-agent/Scum Masons are such a horrible idea. This. Probably my favorite "I hate when this is done in a game" rant subject followed closely by the non-confirming town Scotsman/Bulletproof. You won't see either role in any game I run. (Unless, of course, the game is Bastard, in which case all bets are off.) (I also find it amusing that KidV was a Hammer Brother in SMB, where the Masons were not always aligned with town in the beginning, in fact they were a 3rd Party group of shifting alliances that started out aligned with scum, and it took the role-switch Day to find out, when I became one temporarily rather than my dogooder townie-detective self as Wario, that they could actually steal the win from town even once they were aligned with us. However, at that point KidV was the only one left alive, so it would have been next to impossible for him to pull it off.)

Well, yeah, but we were 3rd party as a group, which I think is less threatening to Town than a single scum Mason hiding out in a group of Town Masons. And we started as 3rd party, then aligned with Town, then aligned with Scum... but yeah, I was less than pleased to find out we had alternate wincon, and if I remember right we decided right away to play it straight.
And it's really only super-bad because we have such a strong tradition of keeping the Masons sacred. If we didn't, then Town wouldn't be blindsided by a scum Mason. But on the other hand, game designers would lose a valuable tool for balancing. I think I like sacred Masons from both a gameplay and a gamedesign standpoint, because it's a nice balanced way to allow town to get information, but I think it's important to remember that we have only ourselves to blame for making a scum Mason a bad thing.

, but I think it's important to remember that we have only ourselves to blame for making a scum Mason a bad thing. I disagree. Scum Masons break the definition of Mason. It's not a matter of "bad," it's a matter of effective communication. Mason has a meaning. Scum Mason is a contradiction of that meaning.
