I hope that got someone's attention.
So, I'm thinking about putting together a roughly 10 person game, that would work as follows:
On the one hand, there's the standard Scum vs. Town wincons; Scum win when Town can't stop them killing everyone; Town win when the Scum are all gone.
On the other hand, all the players will be divided into two "teams," and they won't know which Team they're on. However, two of the players will be Team Leaders; their job is to find their whole (living) Team before Town or Scum finishes the game; each night they'd send me one name, and I'd keep track of how far they'd come. Neither Team leader would know if they'd successfully "tagged" their team until I announce for one or the other.
What I'm debating about is whether or not a "Team" win should end the game, or if Town v. Scum should be required for completion.
Would anyone be interested in playing this?
(A note: This is entirely separate from the DirXScum vs. EdScum vs. BillMcTown game I'm randomly drafting in my head)

My tuppenceworth: I was musing on an idea where there was a second game intertwined around a normal mafia game. It is vaguely similar to your idea. I decided that my version of a Team win shouldn't lead to end of game but there should be results/consequences which affect the normal mafia part.

Good point; am now pondering possible options.
