Hey, it's NAF! I didn't see this post here. It's because I overlook this forum I suspect. Same old same old. Yattara came over for a visit in April, and we hope to have another in September. I finally won another game as a Mafiate, with one of the greatest themes ever imaginable. An actual excuse to say things like "Aye, I am a sorcerer. Some call me... Tim," "Three shall be the number of the count, and the number of the counting shall be three" and so on. There's quite a bit of new blood around. How's life in New Jersey? The NAFlette ok? And your wife? Oh yes, Peeker's been AWOL since about the end of March. Hasn't been here, the Dope, or Giraffe. We worry.

I suspect a lot of people overlook this forum. That's cool, I had some free time the other day and was wondering what everyone was up to.
Congrats at winning on the mafia side. It isn't easy to do, but it's always fun. Also, good for new blood. When I make my inevitable return it will be more fun with some people I don't know in the mix.
New Jersey is sort of awesome actually. There is some stuff I miss about Los Angeles, but not as much as you would expect. I live in a really nice small town that has a really rural feel to it, but is still only a 25 minute drive to NYC (40 minutes by train if I can catch the express). The NAFlette is doing great. She just started pre-school part time about a week ago which has given me time to start getting my own life in order. I am going to go back to school in September and get my teaching certification and see if I can't get work with some at risk youth. Ideally working with them in a drama department type setting, but any job is a good job to start off. Accounting was never a good fit for me, and I am glad I got out.
I hope peek is doing ok. That's a long time to just be gone.

It isn't easy to do, but it's always fun. Also, good for new blood. When I make my inevitable return it will be more fun with some people I don't know in the mix. I had good teammates. Guiri and Romanic fooled everyone; Mahaloth slipped and was axed early (unfortunately) and Bobaargh put up some fun distractions. Unfortunately my enjoyment was impaired because my glasses weren't good enough to work a computer all day (one pair broke over Christmas) which reduced my enjoyment, even if I was the Keeper of the Bridge of Death. I've got new glasses since, which hugely reduced the eyestrain. Good. Glad the NAFlette is settled in. I remember you used to work in theatre (as an amateur, right?) Good idea to try something you enjoy as a career. Don't get burned out though. He disappeared in the middle of games. Just dropped. That's not like him; he used to call for lynch the nonplayers all the time.

I remember you used to work in theatre (as an amateur, right?) Good idea to try something you enjoy as a career. Don't get burned out though. Professional for about 6 years, but never was able to make enough money to do it full time. I always had a side job and then at some point decided that I was tired of busting my butt only to have to keep a day job and decided to dedicate myself to my day job full time. I foolishly just went with whatever job I happened to have at the time that I decided to do this and so ended up as a bookkeeper for about 3 years. This was a bad idea for a variety of reasons not the least of which is that I am actually fairly bad with numbers. I did student teaching in college and really enjoyed it, also my main training is as a director which has a lot of teaching aspects to it, so I figure I will give being a teacher a shot. Oh. That is not good. If something did happen we probably won't ever know will we? Did anyone know him on Facebook or anything like that?

I don't think he's on facebook at all - and I really hoped he would be back by now He did go missing some years ago due to a computer-breakdown - but as far as I remember it only lasted about 2 months.

Howdy, Sticks! How things? The things are ok. I'm floating around looking for work in a halfhearted sort of way. (Got my BA in theater this may and am starting to question my ambition. Bleah.)

The curse of the Theater Major! I get it :sigh: I really do. Best of luck to you. Don't give up until you are dead sure you don't want to act (you are an actor right?). It turns out no one in the real world treats a BA in Theater like a real degree. Philosophy majors get more respect. If you go for your MFA it's much more likely to be respected even though it is a much sillier degree.

Well, if I go for a graduate degree, it would more likely be in linguistics but the biggest problem is that I enjoyed every aspect of theater but wasn't great shakes at any of them. I took acting, and directing, and costuming and set design and lighting and all these fun courses and would love to pursue a career in any of them. So I'm currently looking for internships that would give me an opportunity to try my hand at stuff out of an academic environment. (Actually, my favorite course was Theater History but that seems like an even more useless focus.)

Hell, go from a Dramaturgical MA to a Doctorate in criticism and you can probably teach at the university level and you get to do cool thesis research to boot. I am actually excited about the teaching program that I am getting ready to start in the fall. I don't know what kind of work I will realistically be able to get, but I am a big believer in the theater as a force for change and would love to work with kids helping them foster their own creativity.

Looks like Peek is ok, so that's good. Hi Hooopy, Hi Ulla! What's happening with you guys? I got a job! I thought I knew my dream job and now I know that it's even better than I hoped for. It's a wonderful place and everytime I have one of my crazy ideas, they just say "go for it"... Now that also means they say "you do that" - so I am sooooo busy and spend a lot of time working. But I like it (no I love it!!!). Miss mafia a bit - but I am sure I'll return some day This is the place I work: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuH_mO_bwz0

It's going good. I hope you stick around. We could always use new blood in the game. There is a game starting up shortly on a sister site here: www.giraffeboards.com/showthread.php?t=20593It's the same basic group of people, but because we are nuts we play on three different message boards and Facebook. Why don't we keep everything in one place? I don't know, but we don't. Go there and join in.

If we only played here, no one would find us. Well, except captainplanet, but he's a superhero anyway.

Yeah that's understandable. We play on an IRC server and then a forum and then another forum.

And welcome to the site!

I just thought it increased my chances of winning, if I played more games. But that strategy doesn't really seem to work anyway
