I'm no longer super keen on lynching CaerieD or Sister Coyote. CaerieD's clarification makes perfect sense to me. Sister Coyote I mainly want to lynch because Silver Jan is treating her differently than she treated me, which is insane of me. Obviously, Silver Jan should go first under this reasoning as my suspicion on Sister Coyote hinges on Silver Jan being scum.
Silver Jan is still up in the air for me. I had her solidly in the Town column on Friday, but today things look so very different. I hate this.
Special Ed is looking tasty today as well. His posts appear to be deliberately unhelpful. This isn't necessarily indication of scum and is possibly an artifact of his "new style," but I don't like it and I want to lynch him for it, if only to convince him to stop.
I'm going offline soon and won't be back until just before end of Day (if at all). We are in a bit of a time crunch. I'll be offline for pretty much the rest of the Day and we haven't even had enough pressure on one player to force a claim yet. I doubt we will have a claim by the time I go offline. I'll try to get online early tomorrow to move my vote if necessary, but who knows what my inbox will have in store for me in the morning.

Deon in a nutshell From Night 0 Confirmed "man, woman and psychopath"(From Cat's opening message) Sounds like: The Good, The Bad, And The UglySeems neutral enough? Day 1 Maybe if people gets separated it detonates the shiny collars? Separated? We are all over the world playing a game on this board. Is this a “trying to be helpful but not saying anything poster? Vanilla Blue Team PM. Congratulations. You have been randomly chosen as a member of the Blue Team. You have no idea who anybody else is here but you have been fitted with a nice shiny new collar that can explode and remove your head. WinCon: You will win when all the Red Team members have been eliminated. After I read this from the rules thread my first thought was that the RED TEAM did not have collars to begin with. I am also wondering why only the blue team pm is displayed, I would like to see a real red team pm for once LoL, all that I have been shown in my 3 mafia games thus far were a bunch of amended pm's from the scum (red) teams. What the ? this smells very scummy to me. Had to read it in the rules so their PM is nothing like this then? I wish I could see a real Scum role PM one day= I’m totally not one this time again idlemafia.com/index.cgi?board=wedlockgame&action=post&thread=1770"e=83939quoting people quoting people with no real addition other than a snippet from the rules The "shushing" could be interpreted as someone trying to prevent PIS leaking? PIS? Please explain.... Along the same lines as the potential severing power, it would be interesting if there happened to be a power out there who could investigate someone and find out who they are linked to. I wish we knew beforehand the name of the person we were linked to, or even better if that person is town (preference) or scum (not for me) I think it would ruin the planned game mechanics if we knew these bits. Seems silly to bring it up? With all the speculation on the roles and the way the collars are connected, I do hope that there is at least one red-red collar to eliminate, and if we can get that one, first day, it will surely be good for us to learn how it works exactly, without loosing blue team members :-) More I’m not scum , see. Then we add a list of players with the ones who have not checked in yet highlighted. It’s not a very strong case, I will admit. But parts of it screams at me “ see how not scum I am” and it pings me. Vote: Deon for the time being Catching up, I see that JBJ picked something up on one of the posts I quoted as well. it took me a few to compose this between customers

To be fair. I read the Vanilla role PM in the rules before reading my Role PM. When the game started I wasn't signed into the boards so I could read all the posts but didn't have any notification of new PMs.
As for all the other scummy stuff by Deon, that seems on target, but I'm baffled by the obviousness of it all. I do recall noticing the posts when reading the thread, but I dismissed them as something scum would be INSANE to post: "hey look at me, look how I'm Town. Really, I'm town, I would LOOOVE to see a scum PM 'cause I don't know what they look like, No siree, not me. I'm not scum. No scum here!"
But taken all together, lynching Deon does seem like a no brainer.
my current mood: Kill Deon and Silver Jan
I'm leaving my vote on Silver Jan for now though. I'm generally not a fan of "I don't understand you therefore I think you are scum," but Silver Jan's most recent posts make absolutely no sense to me! It's not even a "I disagree with you therefore you are scum" sort of deal. Her posts look like they address no one... oh fuck it, I'll just say it. Her posts look like something severely out of context, like she meant to post that somewhere else. Yes. I'm saying I think she meant to post that on the scum board. Admittedly the rest of her posts are sounding more and more incoherent.

It always seems to me that Silver Jan gets caught up emotionally when she's a target for lynching and her syntax takes a bit of a dive. (Sorry, Jan, that's just what it looks like to me.)

Why do you want to see a Red PM sample? Vote DeonNot to put words in Deon's mouth, but there's a perfectly valid reason for what he said there. If he FIRST got the Town PM from the rules thread, and came up with the thought about the Red Team not having collars after that, his statement is perfectly valid even if he's Town. He could also have gotten a Town power role, but that possibility seems to be completely ignored in this analysis, and that makes me nervous. It would be nice to see a defense from him, though. As for wanting to see a Scum PM, has he ever been Scum before? Perhaps he's truly never seen one?

Thoughts on Silver Jan: She has a very unique style of play and writing. After playing two games with her, things that would strike me as suspicious in anybody else's case just strike me as normal for her. Kind of like, say, peeker or Ed, where if somebody new came in with a style like theirs they would be analyzed up and down the block and probably led to the lynch block by a large majority. When I was scum in the Pod People game, she was a prime target for framing, and she ended up being a similar target for framing in Paranoia's game. Nothing she's done or said strikes me as scummy, just more Janny.
I went back and reread the thread, paying specific attention to the trio of "discussion stiflers" aka Paranoia, Ed, and Inner. I, personally, find the idea of squelching discussion about a certain topic an anti-town behavior. However, anti-town behavior doesn't necessarily mean pro-scum behavior. More importantly, I looked at the reasons behind their wanting to steer away from the mechanics discussion.
Suspect #1: Paranoia - Probably the scummiest of the bunch in my eyes. Complains about theory nattering and unsightly walls of text (thank goodness you never played with Roosh). Most passive-aggressive of the trio, doesn't ever outright come out and say "stop discussing this crap" but more of a persistent whine. Didn't want the theory discussion to dominate the whole Day. *Note: His why the hell not vote on SisCoyote is still in place.
Suspect #2: Ed - Logical reasoning to support his stance. Thinks we should wait until a Day and Night go by so we have more information to go on. Also doesn't want theory discussion to dominate the Day when there isn't much to go on. Lots of Bahs! and hehehehes.
Suspect #3: Inner - Takes anti-town stance for most pro-town reason: doesn't want power roles outing themselves accidentally. Gives awkward suggestion of power roles not talking about theory to not give anything away, then encouraging vanillers to not discuss theory either to not give away power roles, roundabout way of saying "don't discuss theory." Does give other topic suggestions to discuss about in place of theory.
Conclusion: None of the three seem terribly pro-scum to me. Paranoia pings me the hardest, but it's a soft ping and I'm not confident enough in it to vote for him.
----
Mahaloth and Archangel both ping me strongly as lurker types. Mahaloth seemed very...neutral, almost too neutral if that makes any sense. Guiri mentioned it is similar to mahaloth's style of play as scum, but I'm not familiar with scumahaloth so I can't add that to my own suspicions. Archangel had a lot of mod-related posts, didn't add much to the discussion, and jumped on the Deon bandwagon using Ginger's case.
Deon and Jan look like their shaping up to be the lead horses in the lynch, and I'm getting a strong goat vibe from Silver Jan. I find Jan ends up on the short end of the "well, there really isn't anybody else to vote for and she's acting odd" schtick. Whether it's a scum push or just lazy townies, I'm not sure.
Deon's "rules" thing is close to falling into "slip" territory. To be fair, some of Deon's posts don't make any sense to me and I have trouble parsing them. There are numerous explanations as to why he said what he said, one of them being "he doesn't have a town PM" which is a valid voting reason. I just...I dunno, I don't feel like it's strong enough. A good catch, but I think his response to it would be more helpful in damning him to the lynch than the actual post itself.
I have to put a vote down. Dang.
Vote: mahaloth
He just strikes me as trying to pull a "hey, I'm here! look at me be here!" with his posts without contributing any real information to the discussion. His posts reek of "give me more information while I keep my cards at my chest." That's what I'll go with.

OK, having more or less caught up:
1. Sister Coyote you say this:
Can you explain why a vote with no given reason is more Scummy than a vote given with a bad, lazy, or careless reason? To me they are functionally the same. I see no distinction between Ed's vote and Paranoia's in terms of content.
2. @Silver Jan: sachertorte has made a reasonable point, and I'd like to hear your response to it. Essentially, you voted for him (sach) very early, for almost literally no good reason and with no evident consideration. You have said that it was part of a "Vote Early, Vote Often" approach, and that's fine - I don't agree with it as an approach, but I don't think it's Scummy necessarily - except that you didn't vote again for quite some time, and were quite conservative with your subsequent voting. Can you explain this?
3. I strongly dislike the case on deon. I am too tired to manage a whole close reading of his post, but nothing about it seemed to me the solid indicator of suspicion that others are seeing. The entire deon thing seems artificial, forced, a reach. I will try to write this out in more detail tomorrow morning early. I will also vote at that time.
4. @Ed, so help me, if you're really going to post fifty five-word messages each Day, I will find a way to be avenged in this lifetime or the next. My people are from Sicily; we're good with the curses.

@ storyteller if it helps my case above is the sum total of Deon's posts so far.
The " that sounds good" votes for same are not comforting of course. Also the counter attack of Silver Jan concerns me. ( disconnected drunk Jan posts have been documented)
Could they both be Town (it's possible) Could one be Scum ( see above) Could they both be Scum ( on D1 that would be a coup)
I'm not certain of either. If my choice turns out to be town and is linked to a Scum it's a trade I'm willing to make to gain some knowledge of game mechanics Day 1....

I know there was only 2 hours in between when the rules thread and my PM was sent and the rules thread was posted first. We will never know the truth about when he read the rules to the PM. What I don't understand is from the role PM, why did he think that the RED team did not have collars on. I am guessing his response, but I would like to hear it from him.
