Welcome to the game. Think of this as more of a poker game than mafia, but you know, a poker game with death. You three face off around a triangular table, each of you at one point of the triangle. In front of you you have a slip of paper that says
"Gonna keep this simple, you are [insert alignment]"
Alignment will either be town or scum.
Everyone gets one vote, but may unvote or revote as they see fit. You must vote using the [Vote:] and [Unvote:] tags, no other form of voting is valid. Once a player has two votes placed on them they will die instantly. If that player is scum, the remaining players win. If that player is town well then the scum player kills the last townie.
Good luck. The game lasts as long as it takes.

*Hoopy eyes Paul and KidV warily.*
So one of you thinks you can get away with killing me and the other townie, eh? Well the odds are stacked two to one against you. Give up now and maybe we'll show you some mercy.

Hoopy.... what does you role PM say?
does it say...
"Gonna keep this simple, you are innocent" ?

No. Mine doesn't say that. Why do you ask? Does yours?

Seems like this pretty much comes down to me voting for the scum and hoping that the other town does the same... or me voting for the other town on accident and the scum naturally following suit to win.
Or the other town voting me and the scum jumping on board....

Oh well... only one way to do this I guess....
Vote KidV

So you're voting without KidV even showing up yet? Are you so certain I'm town that you take that risk? If so, why? I know that one of you is scum, but I don't know who. The fact that you are so willing to vote KidV without his input is suspect. I'd at least like to hear something from KidV before I vote.

NOPE.... I think you're town...
my vote was not in the correct format. It was a trap.... if you were scum you would have voted KidV to end the game and win. But since you didn't vote... you are either town or you noticed the incorrect format of my vote.
Vote: KidV
Good enough for me for a three handed game with no other evidence.

Hawk, I don't think you're scum. I think if you were, you'd have put this game away already. I think the only player with the balls to open the voting like that is the scum player.
I'm gonna let this sit for another 24 hours. If you're scum, it's your game to win.

But since you didn't vote... you are either town or you noticed the incorrect format of my vote. Vote: KidV Good enough for me for a three handed game with no other evidence.
Well, I didn't notice the incorrect format of your vote. However, if you were scum, you could have voted incorrectly by accident, and when I didn't take the bait to quickly end this game for your win, you could have then realized your mistake, voted for real, and said you were just setting up a trap to catch scum when you were really just trying to suck up to me. It's a null tell. But I'm still wary of your eagerness to vote early and vote often. Fortunately, we aren't under any time constraints, so there is no need for me to rush into anything here.

Nope... I added the vanilla part to try and get some more info out of one of you.... and now I'm torn... Hoopy could have seen that I was trapping him... and you could have guessed that the vanilla wasn't part of the town PM.... but I think the vanilla part is more convincing to me.

Hoopy could have seen that I was trapping him... and you could have guessed that the vanilla wasn't part of the town PM.... but I think the vanilla part is more convincing to me. [blue] Vote: Hoopy
Really? In spite of the following from NAF: "Gonna keep this simple, you are [insert alignment]" Alignment will either be town or scum. In other words, regardless of alignment, the PM's are largely going to be identical. My town PM says: "Gonna keep this simple, you are town." I'm guessing the scum PM says: "Gonna keep this simple, you are scum." The reason being that if the mod allowed any sort of PM handshake to be set up between the town it would be patently unfair to the scum player and make for a lousy game. So you try to get me to vote KidV and snuggle up with a (paraphrase) "I think you're town, really", and when I don't bite, you then vote me in hopes that KidV will go along with you by snuggling up to him with a (paraphrase) "I think you're town, really" as well. And both your arguments for why you find either of us town concern not falling into traps that are rather ridiculous given the publicly available information. There's no "guessing" involved. If KidV were scum, he didn't have to "guess" that there was no "vanilla" description in the town PM because the PMs are right there for all to see. If I were scum, I wouldn't have had to guess on the "innocent" thing for the same reason. You're firing blindly hoping something will stick. I wasn't willing to play your game, so now you're trying to get KidV to. I don't like it. vote: Paul

So... how are you supposed to play three handed if not trying to trick the other two players to slip up by using simple ruses and gambits?

So... how are you supposed to play three handed if not trying to trick the other two players to slip up by using simple ruses and gambits? It's not the ruses and gambits I take issue with. It's that you are using the lack of someone failling for them as evidence of that person's townieness. You're thought process seems to be along the lines of: I didn't fall into your trap, so I could be town. KidV didn't fall into your trap, so he could be town as well. But since the trap you laid for KidV was in your opinion trickier than the ones you laid for me, and the fact that he didn't get sucked in by this trickier trap, means he's more town than me? When all your traps center around publicly available info, the fact that either KidV or I haven't fallen for them means nothing about our alignments, yet you cite these situations as reason to vote for the other guy. I find that scummy.

SCUM WIN!

So... how are you supposed to play three handed if not trying to trick the other two players to slip up by using simple ruses and gambits? And to address this, I dunno. I've never played before, but from watching previous games, it appears to be a large helping of intuition. FTR, I was pretty sure you were scum from your opening vote. Once a Town player places a vote, the game is open for scum to hammer and end it right there. When you placed your vote and Hoopy didn't hammer, it pretty much made you scum. Unless Hoopy is playing with his food.

Aww, fuckhead. You were playing with your food, you bastard. Yeah. I was. ;D The interesting thing was, when Paul actually voted for me, I had to suddenly make him out to be scummy. I probably would have made the same arguments if I had been town, since there was no real reason to think you were townier than me based on the fact that you didn't fall into his trap. I saw the trap clearly for what it was, so had our roles been reversed, you would have seen the same thing as scum, and still not bit on it.
