Whee work.
Minimafia is so much fun. I wanna hear JSexton tell me why his test was offered to only one of his fellow players before his vote.

Interesting gambit on JSexton's part. Unfortunately, it appears he's right and dotchan can't be scum or the game would be over already.
On the other hand, if he's capable of setting up a gambit like that, he knows the only way it's a sure victory is if he himself is scum--he either convinces me to vote dotchan with that early comment about his PM, or he convinces dotchan that he's honestly playing a little mind game to draw reactions and then gets dotchan to vote for me.
vote: JSexton

NETA: Unfortunately in the sense that it removes any ability on my part to affect the outcome by voting--it's obviously dotchan's choice. =P

Whee work. Minimafia is so much fun. I wanna hear JSexton tell me why his test was offered to only one of his fellow players before his vote. It was offered to the first person to post. I figured that that town would be slightly suspicious (since it varied from their pm) and scum would be slightly defensive (panicking at the thought that maybe one of the town secretly was a bit of a cop). Since I got the town reaction from dot, that makes you scum.

Interesting gambit on JSexton's part. Unfortunately, it appears he's right and dotchan can't be scum or the game would be over already. Why is that "unfortunate"? Surely you should be thrilled, as if you're a townie, you are positive who the scum is. Not at all. All it does it present dot with the same choices she had before. You are removed from the equation from my perspective. It can easily backfire, as the nature of the gambit necessarily draws some suspicion to me, and my result in dot thinking I'm scum. Now, how would I do that? I already established that she is clearly town from a bird's eye view. That's a fairly significant slip, imho. Or I fail to convince her, and get lynched. But I think you've given yourself away, so I'm less worried about that now.

That's a fairly significant slip, imho. Not really, if you were hoping to see me pop into the thread after your post #55 before dotchan did (a reasonable assumption since she'd checked in early and then not posted, whereas I hadn't checked in yet and could have at any minute), see you say your PM implicated dotchan, and vote or FOS dotchan. That post was just a fishing expedition (that was admittedly nicely crafted) designed to snare whoever bit first--either dotchan would, and you'd allay her fears with the "oh, that was just a test, we're townie buddies" followup, or I would, and get at least subconsiously suspicious of dotchan based on her defensive followup. Your snappy vote for me without hearing from me only cements that home--you'd found your townie buddy, and therefore I was lynchbait.

The only way you can plausibly accuse me of "finding a townie" is if I am town myself.

Well...excuuuuuuuse me for needing to work to put food on the table! So, great, the game is up to me, huh? The two of you want to convince me with better words? Becuase neither of you sound all that townie right now. At least I don't have 20+ pages to reread. But still, aaaaaaaargh.

JSexton: Read for comprehension--if you'd've read the sentence immediately beforehand, you'd probably have remembered that you, as a scum, were seeking a "townie buddy"--a townie you could flatter and thus convince you were the other townie.
Which you aren't.
You are, on the other hand, very good at making a big issue over "slips" which are not slips.
dotchan--note that JSexton has basically done nothing but misread my statements and then attack me for them. There is no better evidence than this of his scumness, and therefore nothing further that I can say.

(Ah, so this is how Cookies must have felt like.) So, after going back and forth over my two options (can't I just make one of you vote for yourselves? ) and making my head hurt with reading the posts assuming things one way or another... JSexton, your vote on zeriel was at best careless and at worst scummy. And why would the scum think that a townie would have investigative powers? This is a mountainous setup, mod NAF said so. Zeriel, those two "unfortunately" and "your townie buddy" are a little eyebrow raising...but that's definitely not as scummy as what JSexton did... Given how badly my scumdar's been acting...argh... *bites the bullet* vote JSexton

Given how badly my scumdar's been acting...argh... It certainly is. :sigh: Dot, my vote wasn't even slightly careless. I cast a line expecting responses, and I got what I wanted. Think about it: How could it be careless, from your perspective? It puts all the power in your hands, not mine or zeriel's, and those are hands that YOU know to be town.

To followup, I was expressly trying to do three things once I saw your very good opening gambit:
1) convince dot to question your motives. 2) try to act like a bewildered townie (making small grammar mistakes that could be explained away) rather than being glib and perfect, which could ironically make me look scummy. 2) convince you to get more aggressive in your pushing at me, which would make you look bloodthirsty and therefore scummy.
I think it worked.

Players : BlasterMaster, Naf1138, Roosh.
It's been a long hard slog, but the three of you have done it.
You are all genius level theoretical biogeneticists, and all as poor as church mice, living hand-to-mouth while you work at finding a method that allows the body's immune system to identify cancerous cells and destroy them. Ten years work, and suddenly a flash of inspiration showed you the way.
Your results are conclusive. Not only are they on the computer but safely backed up. All that awaits is review, publication, fame and money. You had a celebration last night.
This morning you woke up (with hangovers) to find the computer had systematically erased everything in storage, including the operating system and the audit logs. Not only that but three of the backup disk sets have been destroyed, and the fourth is missing. Looks like one of you wants it all for himself.
Since the discovery, camaraderie has been replaced by suspicion and hostility. All of you are on edge.
Which one? Which one of you is the thief?
