For the newbies, this is what we call a "bandwagon". Pleonast has stuck his neck out and made a bold play. When someone does this, others generally do one of two things -- listen to what the person has to say, or pounce on them with votes. If Pleonast ends up being lynched, then what just happened might go a long way in determining how the game will play out.
If it turns out he was town, then we'll have to look at the vote record. Were those who jumped on him early a little too eager? Could they have been scum trying to make up a case against Pleonast? Or was it a case of town-against-town -- a mislynch?
If it turns out he was scum, then woohoo, we got one, but we also have to be careful when we examine the voting record there. Let's say Pleonast comes up as scum -- one could think "well, the players who lead the charge against him must then be town". Makes sense, but what if they're also scum, and they were throwing one of their team under the bus in a pre-planned move designed to increase their credibility with the town?
All of this, collectively, is the "wine in front of me" scenario mentioned upthread.

in anticipation of the expected town claim You mean like this one? Yeah, just like that. Only Pleonast's usual claim is for town, not a "power". Ho hum.

All of this, collectively, is the "wine in front of me" scenario mentioned upthread. I would say it's more Policy Voting than a Bandwagon. Does a Bandwagon move THIS fast? It's a BandFerrari if anything. Yeah. I went there. Also, Are you defending Pleonast? Dear God Why?! At best your cuddling him. Policy Voting : Essentially you are using your vote to say "I don't Think so" to something that is effectively 'larger' than the current game or game state. Pleonast ALWAYS does this, and it takes away from the game -- Greatly. He does it so much, I would much rather use my Day 1 vote on it than anything else. Cuddling : "He's not heavy, he's my teammate", At a certain point in time, if you continuously defend someone, you must know something about them. Town players don't know the other town players. Therefore, there shouldn't be an elevated level of defense. Day 1 Vote : Mafia works best when more information is collected and used against a player. As the game progresses people will examine, review, and present posts and voting records to build a case against other players. On day 1, it is VERY HARD to do this. The reasons logistically speaking just aren't there, as compared to votes on subsequent days. That being said, I would still use my Day 1 vote against Pleonast and his "Hey look at me, I'm naked!" attitude.

Not sure why I can't quote Day 0 discussions... the quote button is gone now that Day 0 is closed.
On Day 0 #150 Sister Coyote said, in part: "Pleo has a theory that saying who he is and whether he has a power or not provides more WIFOM for Scum than Town. Lots and lots of us disagree with him, but not all of us and it's how he plays the game."
Can Pleonast, or someone else who knows about his/her theory, explains more about the theory?

Yeah, just like that. Only Pleonast's usual claim is for town, not a "power". Ho hum. I don't think you should let the different words that Pleonast is using for this game weigh into his action. Four. A Pleonast Claim is still a Pleonast Claim even if you call the Tail a Leg.

Pleonast is Dead Wrong.
Scum MIGHT have to drink that wine if indeed you are Town.
Town is FORCED to drink this wine, regardless of your alignment.
You are taking away game space from other things that actually matter on Day 1. You are being a Distraction. You are making Noise. Because at this point, Pleonast, it IS static... It is no longer Dynamic. It is the exact same thing.
You have this elitist holier than thou attitude that monopolizes the game.
You are playing the game, Yes. But what we have to work with is only a sad tired artifact of your delusion.
You believe you are affecting the game one way.
The Good News : You are Affecting the game in multiple ways.
The Bad News : None of those ways are good for you.

NETA : Aren't Power Town roles survived by effectively hiding until they _Need_ to come out.
Even if you give Pleonast the benefit of the doubt, and he is telling the absolute truth, this is still bad play.
