Ooooops! I just re-read the comments about silverjan and lightfoot accounts. I was very worried about leakage when I was scum on one of these boards, and I suspect we might guess the culprit, albehe a non-intentional one: Vote: Idle Thoughts

Well I guess it's too late for me to post my suspicions about lightfoot who had 3 people on her list and then voted me when I was supposed to be 3rd on her list. At least one scum died, but a huge loss for town Am going to go back though the posts of Day one and sorry I didn't know we could talk at nights until now Hmmmmm..... .......This makes me wonder.....

Players who have not yet participated in Day 1 and Day 2 discussions, up to D2#122:
50.Roosh (posted in the I need subs post, saying s/he will be participating later) 51.Dyar
Not sure if Dyar is the same person with the same name on Facebook, but Idle can you ask him?

I need to get caught up with all the posts, but here's a MOD question first. On the Roles post it is said that there will be a secret number of Detectives. Since the term Detectives is in the plural form, does it mean the secret number is at least 2 (meaning there is at least one more Detective other than Francescaj)? I assume so. On a separate note, I think annetastic's confused post is more likely to be genuine than not, but I can't decide if that makes her Town or just a scum who was freaked out at one of their own getting killed over night. I think septimus's tone has been good and he seems townie so far. I like his point about Lightfoot (scum) saying she suspects two people (cassiepietz and michelehunter) and then voting for one of them (michelehunter). I also agree that one of these has a good chance of being a bus, since scum like being right, and they like to be able to point back at things later on and say, "See? I suspected that person!" However, I'm more inclined to think that the one of the two that LightFoot didn't vote is a scum, which means I'm suspicious of cassiepietz. I need to go back and read cassiepietz's posts from Day One. I also need to read LightFoot's Day One posts for myself.

Well as this is my first game I'm still trying to figure things out. Can I ask a question? You say I'm scum but how can you assess that based off of me pointing out an obvious slip up by Supermel. I assure you I am town. But a noob town at that. This really *pings* me. First, Laxrules slams out the first vote, hard & fast (attempt at bandwagon starting?). He has been crazy active on the boards (trying to fit in?). Then he asks others to look at SuperMel's posts and give an opinion (deflection?). Then someone says Lax's posts look a little fishy and he deflects back to SuperMel and declares he's Town & a n00b town at that.......I don't know....this sits really funny in my gut...... I haven't caught up with the rest of the posts here, so I'm not willing to vote yet, but LAX is on my watchlist.

I just noticed that someone voted for me day 1...cool I am not invisible LOL Night 1 post... And Day 2, again a vote without reason. I voted cassiepietz in Day 1, but now I actually do not know if this can be described as scummy, as it would be way toooooo obvious. Hopefully she will come back and participate more.

Thanks to kagemoto for doing that legwork.
Vote cassiepietz[/color], because saying "I suspect x and y, and I'm voting y" is a common thing for scum to do when x is also scum, and that's what LightFoot did where cassiepietz was x.

Stuff from Mr Special Ed
"""""Idle, do the Scum get more than one Kill per Night?
1. Special Ed is Scum: He's trying to appear super helpful to the new players so they won't suspect him.
2. Special Ed is Town: He's appearing helpful because he's actually trying to help the newer players find Scum.
~~~~~~~~~~~
What the case amounts to is confirmation bias. You assume I'm Scum, and then my actions fit into that preconceived notion. You haven't uncovered evidence that indicates that I'm Scum, you've only uncovered evidence that doesn't prove I'm Town.
And the distinction is quite important.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is no difference in how I might act were I Town or Scum. Therefore, what you've uncovered is a null tell.
Many reasons why I might not be targeted.
1. I could be perceived as "lynchable." So the Scum want to keep me around to get lynched. Often times we do "lynch the loud" and I can be loud. 2. I've already led the lynch of one Town player. Scum might be counting on me to lead more bad lynches. Historically I'm wrong way more often than I'm right. 3. Scum fear I might be protected. I could be a doctor or have earned the trust of a doctor.
Oh, well since you assure us of your Towniness, we should stop suspecting you, eh? """"""
Wellll....leaves me to wonder if you are a politician in life...get a lot of the "I am not a crook" feeling from all this. I may be wrong, but I'm not far from it! Me thinks thou doth protest too much. Interesting spin, I ain't buying it.
Vote Mr Special Ed

Responding as I read... So at this point, who can I vote for today without looking like a total scumbag.... Why are you concerned about whether or not you look like scum? And because I really do want an answer to this question: vote dizzymrslizzyas a placeholder vote until it is. Idle, do the Scum get more than one Kill per Night? From the moderator: At NIGHT, all of the people on the Scum team talk about who to kill (of the Town people). They decide who to kill and that person is killed (if it's successful). Sounds pretty much like one scum kill. I looked through francescaj's posts and came across this. It could be what signaled her demise. There are detectives in this thing? Wow, lucky them! But then again, it sounds like a tough role. BillMc is always a good choice for Scum to kill. Sister can be as well. And, we obviously have at least 1 Vigilante with Lightfoot dead. (yes, there could be something else going on, like a redirector but I think Vigilante is most likely) And this is why it's always a bad idea to discuss town power roles. I'm going to hold this against Gadarene, although it doesn't rise to the level of getting my vote. Bullshit! Plain and simple. vote michelehunterYou know what? I don't like how three players suddenly voted on one player. unvote dizzymrslizzy(Don't think I don't expect an answer from you.) vote mahalothfor 1: putting a quick me-too vote. and 2: being the third vote. Wait, weren't you the player that threw out a vote YesterDay without explanation and then disappeared? Checks... yes, yes you were. This is unacceptable. unvote mahalothDon't worry, I still want to lynch you. vote cassipietzfor 1: voting without reason on Day One, and then disappearing. and 2: voting without reason on Day Two. Although we're allowed to talk at Night, I think it wiser to avoid doing so. But claiming on Night 0 is perfectly acceptable Posting always has risks. Risks of revealing information. Scum risk slipping their alignment or their teammates. Power roles risk revealing their power. Vanilla town risk looking like vanilla and thus increasing the odds a power role is killed. Yeah, something makes me think you are not a power role, underline mine. Go on, Pleonast, explain. Go back and read my posts. I explained in detail. I am very aware of risks and act with consideration. But thanks for the smudge. I'm sure we're all very happy you want to debate my playstyle some more.

mchlle, Are you new to the game or not? underlining mine: I am going to vote for starrirain
My reasons for doing so are that being new to the game I am having to heavily rely on players who have more experience. Since I don't know how a newbie scum player is likely to behave, I agree that disappearance after posting a potentially scummy message is a sign of fear. I could be wrong but the clock is ticking and until day 1 is over, we aren't going to know better. Also I love to play mafia and do it when ever I have the time. That is just really not often enough. But Idle asked me to come and play and who can say no to Idle

And because I really do want an answer to this question: vote dizzymrslizzyas a placeholder vote until it is. Simple answer... I'm a woman not only that a woman who just had a baby a few weeks ago but honestly that has no real merit in this game. I felt like I was being ganged up on, I had the bandwagon heading in my direction and I was frustrated because everything I said and did was being scrutinized. I'm taking note that this is just how the game is played, and I shouldn't take it personally.

Thanks - nice to be seen again It appears that our mafia-wiki is gone This makes me very sad. I really spend a lot of time trying to keep it updated. Anyway - just to introduce myself: I am Danish and this might show in my very personalized why of phrasing things and spelling words Also I love to play mafia and do it when ever I have the time. That is just really not often enough. But Idle asked me to come and play and who can say no to Idle Michelle, I don't know. I wonder why she didn't defend herself at all, except if she saw how my defense was quickly hurting me. Defending myself certainly didn't help at all. so *shrug* I have no clue what an experienced player would or should do if the bandwagon starts coming around. I think the best way for a vanilla townie about to be mis-lynched is to ignore the votes on them and instead just post as many as their ideas and theories about other players. We can't know if they are right - but after the lynch at least we will know that their motivation was a townie-one. Still reading Day 1 and will try to put something together as soon as I've finish celebrating myself on mothers-day ;D Also I love to play mafia and do it when ever I have the time. That is just really not often enough. Happy Mother's Day everyone outside of Britain, we had ours in March Hold on a second. Mchlle71 messed up her quote of Total Ullz. Ullz is the one who said she loves playing mafia and plays whenever she can. Ullz's original post is quoted above, then mchlle71's misquote and Mr Special Ed's post is quoted next. Ed, was this an innocent misreading of Mchlle71s misquote? You would not take advantage of the quote confusion and try to start a bandwagon on Mchlle71, would you?

My reasoning was not because of your helpfulness (the above quote is incorrectly attributed to me if you look back). It was the fact that you started not only the first (successful) bandwagon but are now starting a 2nd one...coupled with the fact that Scum did not kill you off. You have not addressed that at all in your answer. People agreed with his case, he's making a new case, he wasn't killed N1? I'm speechless. Vote LianneTexcat can wait.

Not to pick on you, but this idea that "starting a bandwagon" is useful for finding scum is stupid. You are trying to punish a player for being the first to point out something that looks suspicious and voting for it. We want players to do this. We want players to look for something that no one else has mentioned. We want them to act on it by voting. That's how we find scum. Someone has to vote first. Yes, sometimes we'll be wrong. But being wrong is something that everyone who voted for the mislynch has done. There's no reason to put extra blame on the first voter.

I was the one who started the "scum didn't kill you" idea. My point was that Gad and Ed were over the top helpful. As a town player I found it extremely helpful, but I could also see why scum might have wanted to kill them over NIGHT because the more confused the newer town players are the better. Instead of killing off Gad or Ed, they chose Bill who while I'm told is a great player, he was very very quiet Day 1. Why not aim for a more vocal "old/strong" player? I said it was suspicious, not necessarily vote worthy yet.
