I bet MHaye is a doctor and that, being new, she protected herself last night. It fits why that character kept being subbed, and how our kill missed last night.

I suppose you all want some explanations...I warn you I don't have examples like I did before, my votes are based on impressions.
1. kagemoto: There is just something about him. 2. oldred: S/he made a comment about being a "lowly townie" that didn't sit right with me. 3. michellehunter: Her reactions and phrasings are sticking with me. She responded to ascime's death-by-crazy with "poop", not to SilverJan's post that he was a Mason. Did she already know? Or did she quote the wrong post? And then she asked Septimus2 if Septimus1 could help her...how? Figuring about who's town or who's worth protecting? Idk, she's just reading weird to me.
I'm always open to persuasion!

[green] Idle, how many more sub ins are you planning on? How many times are we going to have to kill some of these people? It is beginning to get frustrating. [/green]

Colby11 just posted:
"About this time, I am wanting detectives to go ahead and claim tomorrow... Along with whoever I investigate..."
So, is he a detective? Or is this just smoke? Surely he is not dumb enough to declare a power role now!

[/color] Vote: Guiri [/color] [green] Idle, how many more sub ins are you planning on? How many times are we going to have to kill some of these people? It is beginning to get frustrating. [/green][/quote] I don't have any choice. It would be EXTREMELY UNFAIR to Town if I didn't keep subbing people in. Town has about 8 inactive people right now (as in, people who aren't posting at all very much). All you'd all have to do is kill all the most active people and then you'd have a very easy win. I can't allow that..to do so would be breaking the game. I'm sorry you're finding it frustrating. : / It was a large game, though, and half the people didn't wind up playing much. That is NOT how games usually go. Usually games need one or two, MAYBE three subs.

You could stop it right now if you wanted by just killing all the the players most inactive. Eh? Eh? What's that? Not a good idea you say, as scum? Yep, I agree..and that's what I thought. To kill inactives is foolish since they pose no threat to you. So it's easy to just kill off those actually playing the game...and then letting people who either don't post (or who haven't really been following along) all remain. The game thread would die down hugely then..hardly any posts...and it would probably be easy for scum, then, to manipulate the votes.

oh, my bad on call MHaye a 'she.' and perhaps not new to the game of Mafia, but new to this particular game.
well, I'm glad we didn't kill Meeko, then. I'd hate to have to get rid of him twice.

Vote: jmj697mn She is keeping a very low profile, but has been around. She logged in last night about forty five minutes after end of day without posting anything despite the fact that she is on a vacation in real life from May 30 to June 3: I'm out of town/offline for pretty much this whole week....I'll try to check in and place a vote if I have time/internet access. NETA: I should have included the dates......my mind is already on vacation. I'm gone May 30-June 3. A new player is just as likely to be a Doctor as an experienced player.

If we think that MHaye self-protected last Night, we should try to kill him again Tonight. He should not be able to self-protect two nights in a row.
It might make sense that as a player who just subbed in, MHaye was not caught up enough to know who to protect and just protected himself last Night.
Vote: MHaye

I've been thinking about what Idle said. Maybe we should get rid of at least one person each Night who's not very active. Get rid of PRs, yes, but beyond that. Reason: every time we kill Guiri (for example) he comes back; we're not really killing him, just eliminating a spot. So what's the difference? At least this way it cuts down on the confusion--can you imagine, Guiri v.03? v.04? What do you all think? IF Doctors can self-protect and IF MHaye is a Doctor and IF Doctor's can't self-protect two nights in a row...then I'm totally onboard. Unvote: michellehunter Vote: MHaye Did anyone else notice last Night that Idle said we're "trying" for our 3 kills? The other nights, he just said we're killing people. Just an observation.

And I'll repeat my question for Total and Pleo again tonight, can you make a guess about how many doctors and detectives we have given 60 players, 12 scum, 5 masons, 1 PFK?

I now think killing Guiri just is going to make him happy. I can hear him gloating now in his third incarnation.
Unvote: Guiri
Vote: MHaye
Although there is the possibility that MHaye is not a Doctor but that a Doctor saw the two subs for the role and is guessing he should be protected.
Also, I am not aware of any obstacle preventing a Doctor from self protecting two nights in a row.
The whole Doctor protection/Scum killing is one big cat and mouse game. The Doctor(s) pretty much know that someone who was protected last night was targeted, but they do not know who.
The question each Doctor is asking is "Do I protect the same person? Or will the Scum target someone else and I should move my protection?

A doctor that could self-protect every night would be unkillable. There has to be a mechanism that makes him killable. The simplest mechanism is to not allow him to self-protect twice in a row.

We can take this as fact? It occurs to me that the likelihood of MHayes being a Doctor is reasonably high. We killed several power roles before we hit anyone that was protected. With one Doctor killed and one Doctor role not being played (the MHayes role)...... Is it possible there are only three Doctors?

The only problem I have with the "MHaye is a Doctor" theory is that if he IS an experienced player, why would he choose to self-protect rather than protect one of the known Powers (Hal, SilverJan, Maha)? Wouldn't it be in Town's best interest to preserve, say Hal, for as long as possible? He had no way of knowing if Hal was protected elsewhere. I'm back to the table contemplating the wine....

well, if MHaye isn't a doctor, any leads on who protected him last Night? I really have nothing.
and what the hell is colby doing on the "real" night thread? Any chance he's being a real detective? or just throwing junk out there to mess with people?

also, does it strike anyone else as weird that LadyRogue wanted to sub back in? Her big claim is that she never has anything to say... so why would you want to keep playing?

Maybe she wants a fresh start? It'll be interesting to see if her style changes in her new incarnation. I agree with Rich that guiri will just pop right back up if killed again, so that seems pointless. Should we take a shot at the detective? For now: Vote: MHaye
