Meta-rules:
1) Please make your vote in bold and blue, like so: Vote KidV. Unvote in bold and red the same way, and if you quote another player's vote, please bleach it.
2) If you'd like to get my attention in the game thread, it'll help if you put your question in Bold and Green. You don't have to, but it'll help grab my attention. Skimming is a mod-tell, you know.
3) Absolutely no communication with other players about the game outside of approved channels. This means no PMs to other players about the game, no poking another player on Facebook to get them to post, no comm period. Some roles may be able to communicate on a hidden board, or "offboard" - if this applies to you, your role PM will make that clear. There will probably be an unspoiled conversation thread/forbidden thread, stay out of it if you're still alive.
4) Please participate. I don't have any hard and fast rules regarding participation, but I reserve the right to sub or modkill a player for utter non-participation. Please note that I believe lurking is a viable strategy, and thus will not be discussing whether or not I've poked a player or what else I might plan to do about them. In general, I'll be leaving it up to the players in the game to deal with lurkers, so be prepared for that.
5) I will not be announcing any penalties due to rules violation in advance, and will not discuss them at all. This is to prevent meta-gaming.
6) There will be no recruiting, no Day powers, and no post restrictions.
7) Day and Night ending times will be announced... Night actions are due prior to that ending time. Day and Night will end whether or not I'm around to start a new thread. All times will be Mountain Standard Time, (GMT -7).
8)Night threads are fluff only, that seems to be how folks like 'em edit - there are no restrictions regarding strategy talk in the Night threads. All alignments except Town have offboards to communicate, and may only use them at Night.
9) Don't bother digging around in the color looking for clues. Everything in the color is fluff.
10) I hate the No Editing rule. Editing is allowed ONLY for the purpose of fixing spelling, grammar, and formatting mistakes, if you have to. Players are on their honor not to use the edit feature to alter the substantive content of their posts - if you need to rephrase something, do it in a new post. This relaxing of the rules appears to be working well on the Geeb, but the Geeb has a timeout which prevents editing after 10 minutes or so anyway. I'm hoping this will work here as well, but this board doesn't have an edit timeout, so we'll see. I reserve the right to reinstitute the No Editing rule midgame if necessary.

Game Rules:
This is not a gastard game, but I have intentionally included elements to discourage metagaming and mass claims. As such, this will be a semi-open game. That means most aspects of the game will be open to players, but not all. I will publish a list of potential roles in the game which will be substantially but not completely accurate - there may be roles in the game that aren't on the list, and there may be roles on the list that aren't in the game. I may or may not publish all the details of each role regarding alignment and powers.
This game will have four "alignments" - for simplicities sake I'm ripping off AD&D, and the alignments will be called Lawful, Chaotic, Good, and Evil. Each player will have two of those alignments - Good or Evil, and Lawful or Chaotic. Each alignment will have it's own win condition. When that condition is met, everyone that has that alignment will win. Example - if the Chaotic win condition is met first, all Chaotic Good and Chaotic Evil characters will win. Good is diametrically opposed to Evil, and one will win when all players of the other alignment are eliminated. Chaotic is diametrically opposed to Lawful, and one will win when all players of the other alignment are eliminated.
Kills will resolve first and simultaneously. Remorseful Killers will lose their vote if they share any part of their alignment with their target. If they do it a second time, they will lose their Kill power and become Vanilla.
The CE faction will vote to select a killer each night. That killer won't be able to use any other powers they may have. No other factions have a group kill, although they may have killing roles.
The player with the most votes at the end of Day will be lynched, and their alignment revealed. If two or more players are tied, then the tied player that reached the most votes first will be lynched.
Days will have an indeterminate length. When 1/3rd of the existing players (rounded down) are all voting for the same person, a 24 hour countdown will begin using the timestamp of the post with the threshold vote. Alternatively, when 24 hours have passed without a vote being placed, a 24 hour countdown will begin. A given player may use unvote/revote to reset the vote timer once per Day/Night cycle (this is not a restriction on the number of times a player may change their vote). Nothing will stop a countdown, once started. Countdowns will start regardless of whether I'm here to announce them.
Some players may not be allowed to vote for their teammates. If this applies to you, your PM will say so.
Until the game starts, feel free to use this thread to ask questions about the game. I'm expecting much confusion over the alignment and day length mechanics in particular, so fire away and lets get that out of the way before the game starts.
