Ok, I'm back for the end-of-day shanigans.
First off:
Unvote: Everybody. Yes, I said everybody. I'm not copying out all their names from the player list again, dammit!Yep, that voting method was a noble experiment, but let's be honest here... it probably got more useless votes directed
at me than useful votes cast
by me. I'll bring it back if we get down to the final eleven or something and I'm not dead. Then I can see it working well. When there's twenty-six people and a bare minimum of information... not so much.
Secondly,
Vote: Patricia. For reasons above. I don't get how you can have three hundred posts on this board (so not be a total newbie) and yet make absolutely elementary mistakes regarding your own Christian win condition. Unless you don't have a Christian win condition.
Thirdly, I've been going through a whole lot of people making a whole lot of notes, regarding everything up to and including page 10. The general absence of scummy activity brings me back in mind of some kind of "recruitment" role. I did pick up some suspicious activity though, and here it is.
Vote: Hockey Monkey. Two reasons for this one.
This isn't another OMGUS vote. I don't have any problem with his remarks on my voting method. Nor do I have a problem with his brief remarks regarding
Idle and
BillMC. To explain what I
do have a problem with, here are my notes regarding Hockey Monkey so far.
VOTES:
- Patricia (25/01, 4:48am), for this reason:
"just to get started I am going to vote based on the "I got that as well then", because it does sound a little fishy."
- Holy Moley (26/1, 7:13pm), for this reason:
"I'm having trouble reconciling Holy Moley's motivation for voting for everyone and basically saying "guilty until proven innocent" as a Christian action."
- Scathach (26/1, 6:53am): for fishing for information on Ryjae / Patricia, plus weak defence of Patricia. (Paraphrasing for brevity here.)
SUSPICIONS:
- (On me, Patricia and Crys, 29/01, 5:11am):
"This is what is bothering me about Moley's vote strategy. It is absolving him of his responsibility for the votes he makes.
I still feel as though Patricia is a Devil that got caught with her pants down and is trying to convince us all that we didn't see anything.
I'm not seeing the case on crys. Plus she made a veiled reference to claiming if she needed to. I'm getting a Christian read on her."
SIGNIFICANT STUFF:
- HM's response to Idle Thoughts (26/1, 7:02am):
"OK. It says there may be some exceptions, so I assume some Christians could have started the game with no initial sin, so BillMc could have a Christian role with no initial sin and believe that Idle's pm was contradictory to his.
I'm guessing now that getting to Heaven is the goal for Christians and getting to Hell is the goal for Devils. I'll postulate that getting lynched or NK'd with no sins would be a very good thing."So, two things.
First of all, HockeyMonkey's vote on
Scathach. He suggests that she's "fishing" when asking Ryjae and Patricia about cardinal sins. Now, with
Patricia, the issue is already very much on the table at that time - in fact she's had several votes because of it.
Ryjae had mentioned that he had the "ABC" mentioned in a previous post - the three Christian win conditions - and Scathach was asking for clarification on that point. To assert that either of those two things is "fishing" is one heck of a stretch.
Secondly, there's this, in response to a post that
Idle Thoughts made when he stated outright that Christians, when they die and barring exceptions, can go to heaven, hell, or purgatory:
"I'm guessing now that getting to Heaven is the goal for Christians and getting to Hell is the goal for Devils."
Here's my problem with
HockeyMonkey stating this theory. If one associates Hell with death - and I don't see why you wouldn't, given
Idle's post - then the obvious way for a devil to get to Hell would be to be killed. (No other theory has ever been mentioned, as far as I'm aware, as to how a player, either Christian or devil, would get into Hell / Heaven. Correct me if I'm wrong there.)
Now in my own role-PM - and those of others who've posted them - it says specifically that killing devils will BENEFIT my side. The one thing - practically the only thing - that is certain is that killing devils is good. But again, assuming you specifically associate Hell with death (and again, given
Idle's statement that
HockeyMonkey directly responded to, why wouldn't you?) then this idea is very much at odds with the Christian win conditions that I've received. My suggestion is that this point didn't occur to him because he doesn't
have the Christian win conditions.
Why would a devil post such an idea? That's simple enough: it makes him look less well-informed about devilish matters, makes him look willing to share ideas, and maybe throws the Christians off on a useless tangent for a little while. It would seem a fairly risk-free strategy for a devil to use; if the idea is later proven wrong, well hey, it was only a suggestion, right?
I don't want to make any more votes until I've looked at more people (and looked at some previously suspected ones again). I've got some time to kill now so I'll continue looking at each person individually. So far I've done
Scathach, Solaris, BillMC, Laurien, Patricia, HockeyMonkey, and Ryjae, and not found too much food for thought there (at least as scumminess goes). I've got a couple of hours to kill so I'll keep at it and post any suspicions I get. Peace!
