How mercenary! It seems so wrong... but feels so right!
Ever since I got on this board I've been throwin' out karma like cheap cigars. Just absolutely trashing the karma market, skewing supply and demand all hither and thither. Soon we're going to hit peak karma, have to start importing it cheap from the Buddhists over on the Nirvanafia board. Before long we'll be so dependent on foreign karma that when the Nirvies finally achieve enlightenment and stop being around to supply us with exalts, we'll end up resorting to trading votes for smites. Games will be won and lost by who's got the most karma saved up, and in the end, all our profiles will end up looking like Meeko's before we realize we've got to change our ways.
Thanks, Obama.

How can a player not be vanilla, but not have any powers. When I first posted, it sounded like a player whose powers work if they are targeted, like a Scotsman. Rereading the arguement, it all makes sense now. Pleonast is a mason. And for the record, I am not a part of his mason team. Now, if you are really convinced about this, WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU OUT A MASON ON DAY 1? There is no pro-town motive for that. vote: Colby
I can always be wrong. And if I can figure it out, don't you think scum would figure it out too?

OOGDo what now? Oh. Not sure what karma gets a closed (more or less) group. If it's meant to change my behavior, I doubt it will. There are times I want to turn off parts off me, but that's the real problem of it, there is no off switch.

OK, hold on a sec... I just reread Pleonast's last post, and saw what I missed the first time... Compare that with Colby's earlier post and suddenly it sounds like Colby might have been spot-on. If Pleonast is "not Vanilla", but "doesn't have any powers", then it would seem that he "doesn't have any powers he can use". Which means that Colby's earlier pronouncement looks to have been correct, despite the fact that Pleonast hadn't said anything of the sort in the game thread. At this point, I'd really like to hear from Colby as to how he divined Pleo's "powers" from what was posted. How can a player not be vanilla, but not have any powers. When I first posted, it sounded like a player whose powers work if they are targeted, like a Scotsman. Rereading the arguement, it all makes sense now. Pleonast is a mason. And for the record, I am not a part of his mason team. Is it poor form to go now and try to think,up justifiable color? Because the entire "I know something you don't know, -remotely" thing, pings.

And while I have on meta hat;
NETA : Meta - this game has what I will call is advanced voting, from the standpoint of one player one vote, and being able to vote for a hammer.....
The town can't leverage these powers as much as scum can.
Does that necessarily creat balance issues, and do those issue require additional town roles to re-balance?

The rule I play by says "If I've figured it out, then so have the Scum". Scum have the advantage of having multiple brains (at least in theory), so it's always wise to assume that at least one of them will have picked up on any hint, slip, or suggestion. Therefore, revealing things publicly is not going to give the Scum any advantage at all, because they've already figured it out. It may, however, give the Town an advantage, because it may even the playing field with regard the 'new information'. In any case, knowledge is Town's friend. And more of it is always a good thing.

The town can't leverage these powers as much as scum can. Does that necessarily creat balance issues, and do those issue require additional town roles to re-balance? These powers are self balancing. Scum (and other secretly communicating groups) can coordinate their use better. But, everyone else can suss out that coordination in order to catch them. It's like the fear of scum voting in the last minute to swing the lynch. Sure, they could do that, but everyone will know it and the scum will die. Same thing with coordinated actions--we'll catch them and that'll be the end of it. I also feel like the voting benefits scum more than town. Voting is very much in the town's favor. We have the numbers. In a single-vote game of say 9 town vs 3 scum, town has a 6-vote advantage. In a multi-vote game, if players have three votes on average, it'll be a 27-vote advantage. The only way scum have a chance to influence the lynch is either coordinating their votes (with a high risk of being caught) or convince enough townies to vote in a pro-scum fashion (with a good chance of being caught making scummy arguments).

I think we are making a mistake, SP has been trying to make Idle look like a scummy scum scum or at best a PFK. Come on guys, SP is scum I pointed out what I felt was a lie told by Idle when he made his claim. So yes, I "tried to make him look like a scummy scum or at best a PFK". That's how you play the game; find someone who you think is Scum, and try to convince everyone else you're right. And you may have noticed that I've since unvoted Idle, because I no longer strongly feel he's a threat at the moment.

swammerdammi is going to die cos there is no one around If swammerdami dies with the current vote count, he has no one to blame but himself, since he could break the current tie by voting for FruitAndGarbage. Now, it's entirely possible that he is fully aware of this and is making a conscious decision not to do so...
