Yes, except that I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that Yattara will not be online tomorrow (as she said in the Away thread).

There are at least two players I am aware of who have been encouraged to play even though they may not be able to post as much as other's. kassia (encouraged by me) and Blam (encouraged by storyteller earlier in this very thread).
Just something to keep in mind when discussing low-vote/lurker-targeting strategies.

So starting about 9:30 GMT then.
Great. I'm really looking forward to it.
To our new posters, relax, take your time and enjoy yourself.
Please don't take the game too seriously, regardless of what is posted.
And above all remember its just a game.

Bah, I need to prieview more. Find me one time when a townie who is thoughtful and posted anylitical posts was also the lowest poster in the first two Days and I will conceed this point and revise my system. You certainly do need to "preview" more. As for voting for the lowest lurker. In general the first few tend to be town anyway, so effectively you are setting up a method that for the first few days you will try to lynch a townie. You will also begin to get people just posting to avoid being the person you vote for leading to a lot of fluff which makes it much harder for us to sift through and find the various tells we are trying to look for. The first couple of Days are always mostly town lynches. That doesn't really matter. What is important is starting to figure out what kind of game we are playing in. If the lowest poster claims a power role, I will vote for someone else also. I will add that to my system. BUT good vanilla townies shouldn't be padding thier post counts. This is another problem town has been having. DON'T ACT SCUMMY JUST TO STAY ALIVE! Especially in these first couple of Days it is vital that town not do scummy shit like padding their post count. Look at it this way. If everyone agrees to keep fluff posting to an absolute minimum during the Days (Night is different) and in the first two Days we vote out the player will the fewest posts, the people with lots of padded fluffy posts are significantly more likely to be scum. Because the scum are the only ones who have anything to lose by dieing in the first couple of Days. Power roles can claim, we can lose 2 vanilla if we have to, but losing two scum would be devastating. We get rid of non contributing town (and there is always some) gain information about the setup, and force scum to talk a lot, which will eventually expose them one way or the other. Either they are forced to throw in noise so they don't get voted out, or they are forced to genuinely analyze the situations which will eventually get them lynched*. I don't have a problem talking about this on Night Zero, in fact it seems to be generating some interesting discussion. But I am going to stick to my promise not to try to sway anyone to voting by my system, though I welcome the critique. Once the Day starts I am not going to talk about it at all if I can help it. I am simply attempting to play with as much transparency as I possibly can. And I will shut up about it again for a little bit. (I am excited to be playing again, sorry for dominating the discussion) *Don't believe me? Go read pirates mafia when Gad and I tried to play a 100% analytical pro town game. Gad who was better at it then I was, ended up being found very suspicious by the end, based on his own analysis.

I see your point. But this is why it is only for the first two Day's where the point of the lynch is to gather information more then it is to catch scum (catching scum is a good side benefit, but unlikely). But how will the rest of us get information about you? There's three ways in general to get information. 1) Posts 2) Votes 3) Power roles You're cutting off the Colony from getting information about you from your votes. That's my main objection to it. What I'm thinking about doing is taking maybe the bottom half-dozen posters and choosing from among them. I'll read their posts and make a decision. It's not much better than picking someone completely at random. But it does have the side effect of encouraging more participation. And I'll be accountable for my vote, since it was my subjective choice. On preview: Preview is lobotomized! It doesn't list recent posts; it lists posts from the beginning of the thread (cutting off around 10). So I can't see if anyone has recently replied while I was typing. Can this be fixed? You know I take all this time to write up a post, then find that Pleo has made a really excelent point while I was composing it. My plan is to use FOS instead of a vote in those situations. But you have given me something to think about. I will mull it over at lunch and try and post my thoughts before the start of the Day.

Its an interesting idea NAF, but if everyone manages to put down 20 decent analytical posts, then voting for the lowest poster will not necessarily be a good idea. I would keep hold of your idea, but only use it if you think that there have been lurkers who are not posting. Everyone else will then decide if you are being fair or not

I will reserve the right to change my mind. ;D If we have 20 good anylytical posts (and let's hope we do) I would be very happy and maybe then vote for the person at the top of my FOS list. Sadly I don't see that happening, but hey it might.

Hi hi. I'm here finally (jet lag has been kicking my butt the last two days), and wow. 3 pages already on Night Zero? We're not going to have another Day 1 of Epic Proportions(tm) are we? 'Cause Roosh hasn't even contributed to Night Zero yet.

About preview, Pleonast, it previews whatever page you're currently on when you hit reply. This is when you're typing your reply....NOT when you have typed it and then hit preview. That will always be from the start of the topic, unfortunetly.
