OOG Peekers, how are the pups doing? I think it's fantastic that you do so much for them /OOG they and mom are doing fine. it's coordinating the ten pups on mom with only ten teats and only 6 or seven presentable at one time that becomes logistically tough. and since they nurse so frequently i am constantanly moving folks around to make sure everyone gets a shot at something.

Could someone please explain to me what the case against Guiri was? I am not a Dark Souls player and did not realize how obvious my mention of being deprived would be to players that were. My role is "The Deprived". When I signalled that yesterDay, I was hoping that there was someone in the game that would find that important and contact me. My original plan was to fully claim my role if I was not contacted. I have now, however, opted for a different strategy for the time being. One of the things I am deprived of, though, is soapstones (I have one white). I will offer one soul to whoever offers me the most white soapstones. MentalGuy, is Deprived your covenant, or your name? If it's only your name I find it odd that you would think that would be a reason for someone to contact you. If it's your covenant, then that makes you third-party or scum. Have you been contacted? Maybe your plan of a full claim was better. If you have a soapstone I assume you could reply to any contact. Why are more soapstones necessary now? Sorry I did not reply to this earlier. Deprived is my role name. It wasn't so much the name as what my role entails, that caused me to think someone might have a reason to contact me. I figured if that was the case, then they would likely know the role name. As I said earlier, I am Way of the White. I would rather not reveal the exact reason that more soapstones would be beneficial at this point. I have not been contacted. I am sure I am not the only person that is not sure how to play their role, but I don't feel I can use my powers without being a bit more open than I usually am. I think that revealing too much is likely to get me NKed, though. Anyway, I would like both the merchants to contact me.

and chronos i don't want to dig the horse up and keep beating it but this sure doesn't sound like you. maha espouses nothing but help as a nice 3rd party. all he wants is SOULS. seems like the old chronos would have been over this like butter all over boiled corn. now he doesn't say who or what group he is going to help which is kind of an issue since apparantly he doesn't really give a rat's ear. and i personally like maha but if he is just kind of wandering about without a care in the world i am not sure how "non hostile" that makes him. seems like it makes him kind of dangerous. now you intimate that you have other magic bag information and that's your deal. and i guess my last question would be are you working for 3rd parties?

sinjin is a member of the Way of the White Covenant
I think I remember games where it was explicitly stated that mod announcements were always true, and for some reason I thought this game was one of them, but I can't find a concrete list of rules for this game. Appologies if this has already been answered. Storyteller, are your pronouncements in the opening posts always true?

Could someone please explain to me what the case against Guiri was? Certainly I cannot. I think Guiri's post were strange enough to be 3rd-Party, but I strongly doubt he was Scum. This was part of an unfortunate pattern: Lynch voting has been very bad so far this game, IMO. With adequate thought, Abstain could have been seen as clearly Town, IMO. Chronos, a popular Lynch choice Day 1, probably is a real Town Mason, I'll guess, though he seems to play anti-Town. The votes against me were bad. (What, I'm voted for a flippant joke to Nesta? Yes, discouraged I got sarcastic after I was already misunderstood.) I wish someone had Protected or Replenished Abstain last Night when he was on the chopping block. I hope someone does the same for Guiri. I suppose such Powers would be sold dearly, but I'd like to contribute. I have questions for the Magic Merchants. How many single-use Replenishments are still for sale? Can the merchant(s) use the Replenishment (spending a Soul) themselves? I don't want the Replenish myself, but have serious valuables to offer in support of a pro-Town Replenishment. Please respond soon, and fullest as I'm running low of soapstones.

'Armor and Weapons Available! Special Payment Terms Offered. If interested post on the main thread and you will be contacted.' Mahaloth, care to comment on this? It would seem your competitor has revealed themselves, but instead of miracles and sorceries they are offering armor and weapons. Do you still think your counterpart is guiri? If so, how sure are you? Mystery orange poster, I might be interested. Please contact me.

Nesta gives reasons why I'm not mahaloth's competitor but then votes me anyway? If I was convinced you were Mahaloth's competitor I wouldn't have voted for you. Since no one has come forward to say that he isn't who he claims to be, or that he isn't playing the neutral game that he claims, the better strategy is to let him do his thing and concentrate on finding anti-town. I would feel the same way about anyone else claiming merchant that seemed to be backing that up. Lynching neutral third parties won't help unless they are helping scum. Yes, Mahaloth could take anti-town actions. If he's caught doing so then I agree he needs to be killed. The possibility that he might isn't enough to waste town powers, whether lynch or vig or whatever. You were rather insistent that he should be killed sooner rather than later, which I don't feel lines up with town's best interest. Are you the other merchant? If not, have you dealt with him and have a reason to think he needs to die?

I was starting to get suspicious since you had posted since my questions but hadn't answered them. I generally dislike soft-claims, but I am taking into account that your breadcrumb forced you into it. My worry about you is that there could be an anti-town covenant that might not know who the others are, and signalling would be required to meet up. Your hesitancy to full claim could be due to wanting to make contact before committing yourself. So if your plan was to claim if you hadn't been contacted, and you haven't been, why did you decide to change the plan?

As far as I understand Maha cannot use the miracles and sorceries he sells, therefore souls are nothing more than currency to him. His comment in regards to this makes sense and should not be considered suspicious. And yes, of course he can choose to do whatever he likes, support or disadvantage whoever he likes - but he's more likely to help those who are willing to help him, not those who want him eliminated. There are presumably more WotW players than any others, so we can provide him more business than any other faction and therefore more souls and a better chance of winning. Scum however can more easily take advantage of his track, kill and share offer, but it's likely not exclusive to them.
I'm sure most, if not all of this can also apply to the other merchant.
To the Mystery Merchant - we already know what Maha has to sell, and I'm interested to know what you have to sell as well. My means to purchase items is very limited so I would like to know everything that's available before making such a decision if you would like to contact me with this information.

Oh, I should also say: I could name the player I know to be third-party right now... but I don't know that player's win condition, and outing em might hurt em. I prefer to not make enemies if I don't need to, and as others have mentioned, third parties generally help those who help them. If you know with certainty that a player is non-hostile, then I would classify that as critical information. We are constantly lynching third parties in these games because there is usually no way to know for sure if a third party is innocuous or not. I hope this non-hostile will claim as you suggest. Personally, I would not press for more information about their role beyond a statement of third-party non-hostile, but I can't speak for everyone else. If the player does not claim, I hope Chronos is able to backup the information privately with another trusted player.

observation and a question and a question. i can't imagine a mog making a lie in a post. that's gastard. story can get a little convoluted but lie, i just don't see it. the question would be could someone somehow direcet a mog to make a post? if so, does the mog have any obligation to verify the accuracy of the information in said post? i really don't know but just am curious about the sin thingy. sounds more like it came from an investigator through a mog rather than just a random muse from the king mog. unless story has set up the mogs to be active participants in the game which really will take a while to wrap my mind around.

Oh, and on consideration, I think I'm being too stingy with information. The Scum team has probably already figured it out from what I've said, so I'll just make it clear: The Detective is a mason, and that's how I know of a nonhostile third party.

I agree, I think it's unlikely that the blue-text in the color confirming sinjin as town was false, and if it is that would be gastardly. I would really like to be sure, though, which is why I asked in N2.33 if the opening color is always true. There was a recent game, I'm not sure which, where the outlined rules said that all mod posts were true, or words to that affect. I don't see a list of rules for this game, though, so we can't take that as a given. Story hasn't answered my question, but hasn't posted since I asked, so I assume he just hasn't had time to respond. I'm taking the blue-text confirmation at face value for now, but I can think of a few scenerios where it could be false. For example, that could be this game's version of a godfather: the ability to have the mod post that you are town. Or even more open ended, maybe sinjin, with a spell or item, had the ability to post anything at all in blue-text in the opening post. Even if true, sinjin could switch covenants at any time. This could even be flag. Maybe one of the incentives for switching to an anti-town covenant is that this "X is town" statement will be posted, therefore reducing their risk of being killed. We (for some reason) have mod confirmation of sinjin's alignment, but only as of the time that the announcement was made. Recruitment is still possible. Was it an action on your part, a power of some sort or some game mechanic that you expected, or was it a surprise to you?

"I won't claim because of reasons." Fair enough. This game setup is certainly complex, and holding off until it becomes more defined is a valid reason to keep things close to the vest. I'm very curious why you thought "deprived" as a role name would signal someone to contact you. I assume that there's more to it than just "Deprived", as my name is much more specific than just a "role". Is "deprived" actually in the "you are" field, or is it in the description / color? A full claim could be false, but it's something we could hold you to. If you're town and have reasons not to claim, then fine, but I can't help but feel there's something hinky about trying to get someone to contact you and then when outed holding out on information.

I'm going to assume that there is a game mechanism (such as an ability via miracle or sorcery) in which a player can ask to be mod confirmed. I'm making this assumption partially because I've seen it in at least one game before (and in that game a lot of people questioned the mod's confirmation too), and partially because I believe it to be the simplest answer. In a game that's so complex it can't hurt to remember Occam's Razor.

Well, it could be a self-confirmation thing, or it could be targeted. Either way, though, I think there's a limit to how much we can trust it. Even if it mechanically has nothing to do with recruitment, sinjin is now a really obvious target for any recruiters out there. Now, we're told that recruitment is completely optional, so even if sinjin is targeted for recruitment, she might not accept. And now that I've pointed out that she's an obvious target for recruitment, she becomes less obvious a target. So we can't take it for granted that she is going to be recruited, either. Overall, I'm not sure what to make of this, aside from the fact that any future analysis of sinjin's behavior must start with Dawn of Day 3.
And I'm obviously biased, but I think that if sinjin (or any other Townie) is offered recruitment, it would be in her best interest to turn it down. I think that right now, Town is more likely to win than any other faction: A Detective with PM capability (and yes, our Detective has an adequate supply of soapstones) is extremely powerful, and I also think that it's overwhelmingly likely that we haven't actually seen a Scum kill yet. In other words, we're in a pretty strong position, for Night 2.

In regards to the color posts: you may trust with 100% certainty anything posted in non-italicized text, including any reveals of role and/or alignment. Anything in italics is just color, and is there for fun. Attempt to interpret it at your own risk.

I will say that as Day 1 wore on and we learned more information about the game, I thought it was less likely that someone would be contacting me. My role name is "The Deprived". My role PM says "Welcome to the Game; you are The Deprived". You do realize that I did not even mention that I had planned to make a full claim until the post where I said I had decided not to. I could have just left that part out. I was just trying to be as open as possible while still playing my role the way I had decided to.

Hi, gang -
I'm really sorry to do this, but I'm going to extend the Night a bit. It was originally supposed to end at 12:30; in the Dusk color I announced that it would end at 10:30 instead because I'm going out for the Day and won't be home until this evening. Unfortunately, though, I think a fair number of players missed that message and A LOT of Night actions are currently unused.
Rather than throw things out of whack by declaring a hard stop here to accommodate my own schedule, I'm just going to extend the Night until 8:00PM Eastern tonight. That gives you ten more hours to get those actions in.
Apologies, but I can't think of a fairer solution.
