Here's the deal - I'm typing from a Disney World computer on which the button for the letter between "J" and "L" is not functional. The following Dawn post will thus be shortened, and composed entirely sans the letter in question.
Perhaps they were complacent. There had been no deaths on the previous night, of course, and the death of the rogue Replicant drainbead had swelled the Colony's collective confidence considerably. Perhaps the strange effect that drainbead's unusual powers had on them made them unusually sleepy. Whatever the reason, the sleep of the people of New Canaan was unusually deep that night.
They found their Doctor the following morning, splayed on the ground outside the Town Hall, cleanly and bloodlessly beheaded.
CometotheDarkSideWeHave..., the Medic, has been foully murdered.
The second death was just as unsettling. She had wandered down by the artificial river running near the edge of town, feeling surprisingly confident. Her humanity had been all but confirmed, and none of them suspected the extra truth she held. Her murderer may not have suspected either, but held her head under the water long enough that it no longer mattered. When they discovered her body and searched her things, they found some odd things indeed - a complete blueprint of a Replicant, a coded journal, and enough cash to equal the combined income of the entire colony of New Canaan. Further research revealed that she had been an off-world businesswoman, whose had come to New Canaan intending to gain control over the town's rogue Replicants, via means that her various possessions did not clarify. She was no Replicant, but she was no friend to New Canaan, either.
Xassia, a Third-Party Human Speculator, has lost the ultimate gamble.
Her murderer was not hard to identify, as she laid just a few feet away, shot repeatedly in the spine and head.
Tragic, a Rogue Replicant - The Laborer, has been retired.
---
Day Six begins here. Have fun - I won't be able to check in as often, but I will be in every day.

Post by Parzival on Dec 23, 2007 0:15:44 GMT -5
Well, this is surprising but pretty good for the colony! Sorry to see you go, Cookies. Not so sorry to see Tragic go, and probably not sorry to see kassia go. This pattern of deaths is really bizarre (but given the apparently complex set-up maybe not so surprising now).
Anyway, here's the post I promised in response to Capt. Klutz. Though now I realize it's out of date with the deaths of three people involved in it. Nevertheless I'm too tired to revise it and at any rate it's in response to what happened yesterday:
The first thing is that I had very limited time last week, so I couldn't include the analysis I would have liked. My intention was to give the names of people I found suspicious, with analysis to come as I could manage it. It was not ideal, but about the best I could do.
To start with Cookies, I did give my reason for voting her in my post. I felt she was continuing to do the things I found her suspicious for back on Day 3 (Also, of the four I looked at then : one is dead innocent, one is almost certainly a Mason, and another is likely the piss girl). Just because my earlier analysis found her 'not as scummy as I thought' didn't mean I thought of her as pro-colony. It was her continuing to do those things - distraction and doubt, in my opinion, that made me vote for her. Today, I'm willing to let her claim stand even though I don't place a lot of trust in it.
As for kassia, my suspicion was based largely on suspecting that Pleonast might have targeted her on Night 2. Some of my suspicion of zeriel was based on thinking that Pleonast had targeted him and got a no-kill result. Since zeriel was an innocent, it led me to think that kassia may have been his target. Going into detail on this issue was worthless Yesterday since kassia is confirmed human (in all likelihood).
DeathByIrony was mostly just a gut instinct. There may have been something specific I had in mind at the time and forgotten but I didn't have time or inclination to look at her closely. (EoB with Tragic somewhat behind her are at the top of my list now so I'm still not looking deeply into her record).
I honestly didn't find drainbead more suspicious aside from that inconsistency. I did think she might have a power role, though, and didn't want to push her too much if that was the case. Turns out I was partly right (on the power role) but ultimately wrong in not finding her scummy.

Post by Pollux Oil on Dec 23, 2007 2:06:05 GMT -5
Ah-huh. Well this is interesting. Also slightly unsettling. And also bad timing for me. These three deaths require a bit of close analyses and I'm going to be fairly absent this next week as already mentioned in the going away thread, so before I go I guess I'm going to throw my two cents in.
I don't have time to re-look at things, but from the color it seems like the Rogue Replicants tried to kill kassia, and possibly kassia had some sort of defensive mechanism that took her killer down with her. Mayhaps that's how it went down, or maybe kassia tried to "take over" a Replicant and they both ended up dead for it, as Cookies' death is the more messyish one.
I won't be able to do much hardcore analysis this week, so I'm going to rely mostly on my notes from yesterDay for this post. Since I'm unsure how often I'm going to check in from my relatives' dial-up, I'm going to go ahead and cast my vote now in case for some reason I never show up again.
From my count and memory, me, Klutz, sinjin, and Roosh at least were all planning to vote for episodeofblonde if she hadn't been away. Now I'd normally go ahead and vote for her, but after Roosh and CatinaSuit's exchange last Night I'm starting to question Roosh's motivations. (As well as CatinaSuit's mind you, but I'm more worried about Roosh and a possible episodeofblonde pile-on.) I'm also still only 40-50% convinced of Klutz's towniness (factoring role-claim vs. actions).
If all four of us were true to the intentions of what we spoke yesterday, that'll be 4 votes for episodeofblonde rather quickly, and that only takes 3 more for a majority and shortening of the Day. I'm not entirely comfortable with this since I won't be certain of how often I can be around to keep up-to-date with new developments.
My next target is DBI, obviously, as she's still up on my scumdar even though she voted for drainbead. Something that I've kept to myself is that when her and Roosh had a spat I think it was around Day Three/Day Four, it almost seemed kind of forced. They've usually not gotten along in past games, and if both are scum they might have been like "well, we normally distrust each other, so let's just throw together a fight so it looks like we're disagreeing." With Roosh being questioned more openly now, I figured I would throw that thought out there, even though it's probably nothing and hare-brained.
Also, a point towards DBI is obviously because of my either-or analysis between her and Cookies. Since Cookies was town, there's a chance my analysis was correct and DBI is scum. However, Tragic being Replicant throws my analysis into a slight tailspin, as she was a one-off voter not voting for Pleonast. I'm now sort of leaning towards one of DBI and episodeofblonde is scum, but not both because of Tragic's rogueness.
Finally, a sort of meta-gamey thing is that DBI was the first post after the Night deaths...and she asked what kassia's powers were but (pointedly) did not ask anything about what a Rogue Replicant laborer was. Perhaps that was a meta-slip, perhaps not, but again something to note.
My ramblings may or may not make sense as I'm really tired from packing and such and I'm just sort of stream of consciousnessing this out. In summary:
1. Not gonna vote for episodeofblonde 'cause I don't want to have a scum pile-on since there are three other "promised" voters besides me and I'm not sure how often I'll be able to check the boards. 2. Second most suspicious is DBI to me without having to do more analysis. Roosh and CatinaSuit's disagreement merits more research that I don't have the time for. 3. I do not want to leave for vacation and not have a vote in, so I will put my vote in.
Vote Death By Irony
I'm hoping there was some blue pee in some toilet last Night. Even though with kassia's death it shows humans can be bad for the town too, at least it'll help narrow down the possible rogue Replicant pool.
Also to my fellow Mason(s): If you're planning on claiming toDay I'll try to be around this week and check-in once a day, but I cannot promise a Johnny-on-the-spot help-out confirmation.
I might check in one more time before I leave tomorrow. If not, happy holidays and all that good stuff.

Morning all,
Well from the Night time.
Cookies - sorry to see you go.
Kassia - Sorry to see you go as a townie, but not so sorry as you were probably an anti-town role.
Tragic - Off you go to Silicon Hell.
Important points from the Night's colour.
"Tragic, a Rogue Replicant - The Laborer, has been retired."
The only thing that does retiring of replicants is a Blade Runner and I don't believe kassia did revenge kill Tragic.
Of course, this could also be a setup by the scum to kill one of their own and allow another to claim Blade Runner.
Secondly, given that we found no sign of the technology kassia was intending to use to gain control over the rogue replicants, I would guess she was not alone and there is another third party speculator out there, somewhere.

Captain Klutz, Other than your scum list, which has been proved false through Cookies' death, can you show me where your reasons are for voting episodeofblonde ? A few things. First, quick backing down from votes: Day 3.68 votes zeriel, reason explained in 3.84, "becuase you seem scummiest to me right now". When zeriel asked why he seemed scummiest, episode simply unvoted (3.89) A bit of a backdown against Pleo on Day 1.476, where she unvotes Pleo because "Well, Pleo, I did think you were lying. But something about your last post (tone, maybe) makes me second-guess myself." Day 3 was the Pleo wagon. I thought the 3 most suspicious votes that Day were the 3 who did not vote for Pleo after his Rugger comment. These 3 people were DBI, tragic and episode. Day 4.75, episode suddenly says that I have been pinging her since Day 1. This was news to me. And in 4.165, where I learned that trying to discuss possible scum roles or interpreting the colour counts as "scummy fishing".

Shit. Shouldn't have posted so quick. Um.
oh. And Gov.Rugger (and I guess Dotchan), you wanted to know how I guessed 7 replicants? I'll show you my reasonings, and YOU make a guess then using my math too:
I started off with a Percentage due to my PM. It increases with every decommissioned replicant- So I'm using that to guess how many replicants there are: Initial %: 34% Pleo died: It went up to 45%. [This is when I started to believe that we have 6-7 replicants.]
Drain and Tragic just sent it up now this morning to: 67%. I still feel like we have 3-4 replicants left, but I'm leaning towards 4 (thanks to my college roommate who's drilled into my head off-by-one errors).
So those are the #'s I have. If you know your math better, feel free to try to predict the # of replicants better than i.
Oh, and I'll post the Vote chart up next. I may role claim tonight if I have to. This week is just a bad week for me though with it being X-Mas and all, so I know I'll be busy Monday, Tuesday, Weds.... But I'm gonna try to stay active, as I'm in HUGE trouble right now. Votechart up next.
Rugger-I NEED to hear from you. OR if ANYONE else in this town MAY happen to know how to deal with mechanical devices. Or Defusing things. Or Timers. Or ANYTHING like that.... Sinjin? Klutz?

Yeah, Roosh, from your percentages it looks like there are 3 Replicants left in play, since each time the percentage goes up by 11%. 67 + 11 + 11 + 11 = 100%.
It's funny, I was thinking last Night that the way Roosh was acting I figured he had some sort of way to identify how many Replicants were left. It could have gone either way (a power for a rogue Replicant to determine how many normal Replicants are out there), however I didn't want to suggest anything in case it was in fact a pro-town power role and he could end up targeted if anybody put the suggestion out there.
Roosh, do you have any idea if this was a scum visit or a third party visit? It'd be an odd coincidence if Pleonast made up a random ability/role-claim and it was actually a role/power in the game. A really, really strange coincidence. Also, Parzival, it might be a good idea to go into a bit more detail about what happened when somebody visited you.
That's it from me, in about a half-hour I'm out the door for vacation.

Okay, I'm confused now. Roosh, are you some sort of Speculator too?
The rather quick votes for episodeofblonde make me slightly nervous. I'm going to hold off on voting until I do some more analysis. It also appears that Roosh needs something to happen before the Day ends, perhaps. No good reason to end the Day early.
It is intriguing that Tragic was shot, and the words 'retired' used. But she was also found right next to kassia, so the retaliation theory makes some sense. Or a one-shot/alternative Vig.
But with Roosh having a Night visitor (or at least claiming one), that's a lot that went on last Night.

I'm holding on to the exact method to confirm if the person ever needs to claim (and we're both alive), but I'll tell about as much more as I feel comfortable -
It was something that left me essentially unconscious. I had no memory of what happened during the night, but woke up feeling refreshed. (This is what made me think it may have been protective.)monk

This game just keeps getting weirder. Roosh I have no idea what you're going on about. My role is as simple as I've stated: nano-bots + human = Blue whiz about 50% of the time. No difusing of things, no timers, nada. And why did you address this to me last night? I had a discussion starting here on Night 4 with Cookies where I stated I had a gut feeling that strategizing at night was a bad idea and that I was not going to participate. Given your posts last Night I was expecting some sort of major revelation from you today Roosh. Not some numbers game and apparent wild panic. FOS RooshPS I am holding off on voting for episodeofblonde until later in the Day but she remains highest on my list of suspicious characters. Also is zuma2 still around. He hasn't posted since Dec. 16th when he said he was going to do some review. Well it's a week later and he hasn't been back with the results of that review. Nor has he posted in the away thread. Just wondering.

Why am I getting this strange " Top Dog" feeling. Roosh is mentioning bombs + timers which was Pleonast's false role claim which is best dealt with by Captain Klutz, when instead he goes begging to Santo Rugger for help. Not to mention his Maths is horribly wrong. I could understand 7 replicants in the game, in fact it fits neatly with what we know and surmise so far, but 9 replicants is pushing it to far, decomissioned or not. I think an explanation is required.

Does anything else think that perhaps too much went on last night 1. Cookies would have protected someone (1 Medic) 2. Cookies was killed (1 Medic, 1 Nightkiller) 3. kassia was killed (1 Medic, 1 Nightkiller, 1 Replicant Kill) 4. Tragic was killed (1 Medic, 2 Nightkillers, 1 Replicant Kill and if you are telling me that kassia can shoot tragic several times in the spine and head while being drowned I'm calling bullshit. ) 5. Roosh's mysterious visitor (1 Medic, 2 Nightkillers, 1 Replicant, 1 Mad Bomber) Given that I think Cookies would have been killed by the Replicants that leaves 1 Medic 2 Replicant Killers 1 Night Killer 1 Mad Bomber I guess they tried taking out Cookies, guessing she was protecting atarus, and kassia as a semi-confirmed Colonist, and reckoning they would get at least one person. I don't think they were prepared for Tragic going down though. Where is this leading, well quite frankly I am calling bullshit on Roosh's claim until a much better explanation comes along without the inconsistencies.

The reason I didn't ask what "Laborer" meant was that if Tragic had some sort of power I was assuming story would put it in parentheses the way he did for drainbead's role, so the lack of any additional description seemed to suggest that she was just a Mafia goon. I guess if story answers sinjin's question we'll know for sure.
CatInASuit - from the narrative color, it indeed doesn't sound like Kassia killed Tragic, but I'm not sure we can rely on the mod to give us that kind of information.
This is the second time you're casting doubt on someone based on "color" alone. Unless you know something for sure, this is a fairly terrible way of determining the truth of a claim. FoS CatInASuit.
