The mood at the Governor's mansion as the first week in the Passion of New Canaan neared its end was fairly jubilant. The occupant of the Governor's seat had survived far longer than he had ever imagined possible, given the air of paranoia and mistrust that swirled about the town. Better still, the emergence of those who might pose more attractive targets to would-be killers - and the mounting evidence in his own favor - made the possibility of an extended term more likely than ever. Best of all, he hadn't executed an innocent person in more than 48 hours!
So the good Governor might perhaps have been forgiven for his incaution when the Gubernatorial doorbell rang just past midnight - he was still Governor Rugger, after all, and late night visitors were hardly uncommon. When he saw the face of his visitor, however, his eyes hardened. This was no fresh-faced Governor Groupie; this one someone the Governor knew, had seen daily at the lynching sessions - and the visitor could have only one aim in mind.
With a roar, the Governor lunged at his visitor, hoping to take the initiative, but sadly, the initiative in this case belonged entirely to the person with the syringe. About an hour later, the good Governor awoke - for a brief and distressing moment - strapped into New Canaan's own electric chair. It is there that the rest of the colony found him the next morning, quite thoroughly toasted, and not in a good way.
Santo Rugger, an Ordinary Colonist, is now the Former Governor
Suddenly rudderless, the panicked Colonists turned to the one among them of whose allegiance they felt surest. He had declared his credentials days ago as a son of one the Colony's founding fathers, and backed his claim with information the Colonists hoped might still be of value. But he was not among them either. They eventually found him outside - well, most of him, anyway.
atarus, The Third Scion of New Canaan, is also dead
----------------------
Day Seven begins now, and will be extended by one real-life day to allow for the election of a new Governor. In the interest of getting us back on a fairly regular schedule, the Day will end on Tuesday, January 8, at 5:00PM EST, unless a majority vote is reached prior to this time.

Oh crap. I had a whole reply typed up in the Night thread about the Director's Cut and theatrical release and versions of Blade Runner and then it got locked. What a shame.
Oh yeah, the Governor's dead too. AND a mason.
So, now we debate how the governor's going to be elected, or go with the safe choice? I don't see much reason not to
vote diggitcamara.

Ok, from what's left, I reckon on 2 Rogue Replicants, 2 Speculators, 5 Townies.
I hate to point this out, but if I am right, a mislynch today could hand victory to the Speculators if they have control of the other two replicants.
Confirmed diggitcamara - Mason sinjin - Scientist
Unknown Captain Klutz CatinaSuit v. 2.0 Death by Irony Kat v. 2.0 Parzival Roosh zuma v 2.0
Given that Santo Rugger was a Vanilla Colonist, I would guess that this adds creedence to sinjin as a pro-town power role, because there is no real reason for Santo Rugger to lie about it.
I am also beginning to think the the Speculators may have a Night Kill as well. Given that we are now getting two kills a night, I think they know who the remaining Rogue Replicants are and will kill townies to ensure that their Win condition is fulfilled.

Question - primarily for CatinaSuit , but anyone can answer:
What reason do have to believe that the 'Speculators' are a group? As far as I recall the only thing is that kassia was said to be 'a' Speculator, which doesn't necessarily mean there's more than one. Or did I miss something?

As far as I recall the only thing is that kassia was said to be 'a' Speculator, which doesn't necessarily mean there's more than one. Or did I miss something? Put yourself in the shoes of the designers of this game. It's certainly possible that you put in a third party, consisting of a single player whose only goal would be to remain undetected and who would, bit by bit, recruit those of one (maybe two?) opposing parties and who would win once her party had the majority. But in this setup I would think there were more than one of them. (Consider the "replicants whose change once they speak to other replicants" or the device Roosh says he has detected). In the one game where this kind of setup was used, there were two equivalent roles: Vampire and Necromancer, if I remember it correctly. It's entirely likely storyteller and his cohorts used a similar setup.

Also, zuma.v2, would you please respond to my question in Day 6.91 Notice that he qualified it: it's not "a shitty doc" but "an apparently shitty doc". What the heck does "apparent" mean? I can see that it could mean "you may have protected NAF, but it didn't work". But I can't think what else it could mean. And I can't see why anyone would think "may have protected" rather than "did not protect". So, a question for zuma.v2: what did you mean by "an apparently shitty doc"? <shrug> Just what it seems to mean. At that time, it was my opinion that NAF should have been protected if we had a doctor type role (I thought we probably did). I didn't know for sure, nor did I know if he may have been blocked, or any number of things. I found it most likely at that time in the game that he made a bad choice, or self-protected, or maybe even there was no doctor, but of course I couldn't be sure.

::signs personal Death Warrant::
Ok, I guess it's time. I am a Mason.
I can be confirmed by diggitcamara when he is able.
Hopefully this will help to narrow the pool of suspects.
And what do I know.
I give this for starters: I spent some time in various business companies before returning here. From my contacts, I know that there are a few, ie. more than one, unscrupulous Speculators who are looking to take advantage of our situation.
However, I also know that about half of all humans exposed to this technology will have an odd reaction.
Is this sounding familiar to people at all.

Vote for that other Mason, Diggit, for Governor.
Oh man... I think this Day is gonna get a LOT more interesting.
Um. I've got a magic bag. It's mostly an update on what I've been up to last night, but I'll save it until AFTER we've got a Governor in place. Unless someone REALLY has a problem with waiting those 24 hours....
I've gotta think about this Game. Alot.

Bah. I've grown to hate magic Bags actually. I've got good news/bad news sorta dealio's with my PM this morning. The Good News:- I am now at 78% efficiency for protecting at Night. (For those of you keeping track that means I believe there are 3-2 Replicants left, depending on if you're an optimist or a pessimist). The Bad News?-I kinda can't use my powers.... More Good News:-I can confirm my role at Dusk. The Bad News?-I confirm my role at Dusk..... Apparently I woke up this morning after drifting off spending all night trying to disable the device. And I saw the numbers were at 1200 hours left. I apparently failed with my 67% chance. Which fucking SUCKS. I've got 12 hours in the Game to live. Then the Device goes off. So uh. Yeah. I think I'm dieing when this Day ends. At Dusk. I'm not sure why.... But the PM seems to STRONGLY indicate that. As it says (and I paraphrase): Good News- at least you'll be able to write your own death scene! So uh. Yeah. I got that going for me. ... This is fucking Uncool. Way Fucking UNCOOL. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ But at least my efforts were not in Vain. Though I failed to disactivate the device, I found out how who planted the device.... (apparently it was on a part of the metal or something that I pulled off?? Not really sure about that plot hole, Story....) And that person will be getting My vote for Execution straight up when a Governor is elected. You lying Asshole.

Night 6.26 CIAS2
That looks a reasonable guess for the Speculator's win, athough it looks difficult to achieve. Yes, I think the Speculators are a real threat and should not be ignored. I would prefer to lynch scum, but until a better target appears,
vote Roosh
As for the Nexus-9 speculation, that's a possibilty, but you would have to be pretty lucky to get not just a power role but one that could plausibly have a backup.
When I got my role I didn't think it looked very useful, as I would have to use up one of the investigations in order to get the others. I did the hidden message thing to prove my knowledge of Kat.v1's role, and then suggested she was a scum investigator in order to get her attention. I must admit that when Kat.v1 died on Night one I did wonder if the scum had found my message. I was particularly concerned because the "scum investigator" post and the post with the hidden message were in fairly close proximity. But I eventually overcame my paranoia. And note that no-one noticed the message until I pointed it out. Indeed CIAS2, you called me out for the "scum investigator" bit, but even you didn't think to look for a hidden message.

I'm just a pissed off Doctor with a blinking device and 12 hours to live. So ladies? Any offers to give a dead doctor walking his last dance? ;D :sigh: Oh. I would prefer to lynch scum, but until a better target appears, vote RooshSometimes it pays to read the posts above. As for the Nexus-9 speculation, that's a possibilty, but you would have to be pretty lucky to get not just a power role but one that could plausibly have a backup. When I got my role I didn't think it looked very useful, as I would have to use up one of the investigations in order to get the others. Actually, the Neuromancer does not plausibly have a backup. Given the type of powers she had, it makes little to no sense to have a backup iof the type you mentioned. I would have expected a backup Blade Runner before a backup neuromancer. In terms of luck, after the Firefly Game, I am discounting nothing. Consider Night Zero of that game and then think real hard about probability. Yes, I did call you out on scum investigator, because I did not understand where you got the term from and because I did not think you were scum at that point in time. For the scum, who knew who you were, it is a great big pointer saying "INFO - OVER HERE". You cannot say that no-one noticed it, in fact it is really likely the scum did as Kat died on the first night.

Excerpts from my PMs to Story:
Night 1:
However, NAF's claim is perhaps the "most townie", it sounds like it could def. fix the problem of protecting against Replicants better than I could, and it doesn't conflict against my role. He's more like the witchdoctor from conspiracy.... So, that's my decision for tonight: Do I protect myself or NAF? I'm gonna take the risk here, and I'm going to protect NAF tonight And hopefully we'll be able to figure out some things in the morning. With my ass still there as well.
Night 2: But as for who I'm gonna protect tonight? I think that's obvious: I'm gonna be watching out for #1 tonight: I protect Myself for Night 2. Night 3: Whoa. Hold the presses! I wanna cancel my last Orders based on new intelligence! Atarus just claimed masonhood! AND he pointed out that Pygmy may not be cleared just yet. Business is about to pick up- so I think I know what I wanna do.
Heh, it's the noble thing to do: A fallen soldier seeks redemption. He's screwed up, but he's gonna go forth and try to save the life of his best buddy. I'm gonna protect Atarus for Night 3. Confirming Action. Night 4:
So tonight, I'm just gonna do the same thing as last night: I'll protect Atarus Again. AND hope to GOD that no one tries to take me out tonight.... And then maybe toMorrow I'll have to share my info with the town. We NEED to do something... and you better not just be sitting there laughing your ass off at us, Story.... Anyways, I'm out for now.
Night 5-6: Protected Myself (reasons: I felt I had exposed myself with the #'s reveal and then the next night because well... I had a fucking blinky thing on my leg that I wanted to remove....)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So my Protect List: 1. NAF 2. Me 3. Atarus 4. Atarus 5. Me 6. Me ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That's about all I've got to share really. I'm kinda hectic the next few days and all but I think that's about it. I've given you my %'s, I've given you my protect lists, anything else you need?
Feel free to ask me ANY questions about ANY of my actions. If I'm going out, I don't wanna have any bullshit reads into my actions by someone later on.
Just Ask me and I'll tell you the 100% truth. Come on guys, we can win this one!
I got the term "scum investigator" from Firefly (it was mentioned in discussion about Diomedes' claimed role). And please note that Kat.v1 was probably killed by our original Blade Runner (Kat was shot cleanly, not torn apart).
Further thoughts from Night 6. I have been thinking again (yes, I know its dangerous) about the numbers of roles in the game. I had a look at the Firefly to get an idea of Game balance and the following ideas came out.
We have 25 people.
My guess is that we have 5 scum.
This leaves 20 townies. There are multiple Speculators and I would guess at three of them (nice standard number).
This leaves 17 remaining. Of those I would expect a 50/50 split of vanilla/power role.
So to even it out and account for the extra night kills, I reckon we have a Seriel Killer on the loose.
So I guess we have
5 scum 3 Speculators 8 Vanilla 8 Pro-town power role 1 seriel killer
We have lynched/had night killed
3 scum 1 Speculator 7 Vanilla 5 Pro-town power role
This leaves
2 scum 2 speculators 1 vanillla 3 pro-town power roles 1 Seriel Killer.
