Okay, I'm addicted to Facebook. If you have one, you can add me by clicking here: www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=799115897And pressing "add to friends". Warning, though. I'm not the person you want to add if you don't like getting application requests. I DO NOT send a lot of them, however if you have/use the Growing Gift/Hatching Egg/WaterGlobe apps, I'll send you one (each) a day unless you tell me not to. And the other apps I use on a regular basis are all of the selling/buying ones. I'm talking about the main three: Friends For Sale, Owned, and Human Pets. So again, if you have FB and use any of those, you'll probably get a lot of stuff from me...some love it, though, since I tend to help people raise money/points in those apps. However, like with the eggs and flowers, If you add me and don't want to be sent that stuff, just let me know,..either in here or in a message on Facebook....and I won't ever send you stuff. Feel free to post your Facebook links here if you have them/trust the people here with the link. Anyone can feel free to add me.

Facebook, what do you think I am a youngun... Back when I was a younger it was all about geocities. And I had me a prime spot, on Southbeach. We would share some of the lamest web design known to mankind. I think we all tried to get the flashiest, most colorful and ugly things on our "homes". Just thinking about that, makes me feel so old. Ok, here's my question: If I put up my facebook thingie here would my students be able to follow me back here somehow and find out I'm playing mafia with all you goofs? Not that there's much on it, I'm just starting out. I only have 3 friends. One the rat bastard son who pranked me on it April 1.

I had a god-awful geocities site back in the day. I'm almost positive the last time I updated it was no later than 1995. Now I feel old too. Thanks

I will be the first to admit that I can barely keep my head above water on Facebook. I honesty don't know what half of the apps that I have on my page actually do, and I have not yet found the way to inject my flickr images onto my page, as I have been able to do on other social networking sites. Halp?

Nevermind, I was just lazy. I found it with a quick search. I'm still in the weeds as to what the point of most of these apps are, but I think I'm halpless to change that...

If you just block all the silly apps when you get the first request, you'll have to deal with a lot fewer requests for "What kind of underwear fits your personality?" quizzes and whatnot.

Well, all of the funky stuff has come from my friends, who are self-selected to be cool people. So I have been implicitly trusting all of their recommendations, assuming that I too can find joy in them...somewhere...

MOST apps are pointless and stupid and just take up space on your profile. That being said, there are some that are addictive. I try not to send many out but if anyone's with the Friends For Sale, Owned, or Human Pets applications, they'll probably get a lot of stuff from me. Even if you DON'T have those apps, you might get stuff from me, because the backbone of that app is to buy people who are on your friend's list. If you don't do that, you don't survive in the game. It's like a huge stock market and every time you get bought by someone, given away, have a person GIVEN TO YOU, or otherwise get bid on, it sends you a notification. Yes, it can suck, sometimes, so I try not to send many requests/notifications to those who I know actually aren't in those games. You can select what app requests you get or even block them, though, like Santo said. Or, you know, just trust me. If I'm sending you an app request or notification, you know it has to rock because: A. I only use the coolest apps and B. I only use about 6 or 7 apps regularly. All the rest I ignore (but not block. I never block because there's a lot of apps out there that depend on friend requests for you to actually access them or advance in levels in some app games. While I think this is stupid, I usually keep em all unblocked in case a friend of mine on there wants to, say, get to level ten on the Superhero one. Some people HATE app requests and by hate I mean they must feel it's the worst thing on earth. APPS ARE SERIOUS BIZNESS when it comes to some people, apparently. I've accidently sent some to a few before and have gotten yelled at and threated to de-friend. I just say "hey, de-friend me if it's going to make you that mad. I won't send you anymore, but really, it's not the end of the world" I keep a few on my list that I know are unactive that I use ONLY to send apps to, just in case I ever use one that needs app requests to advance (or make money/points/whathaveyou). Up until now hockeymonkey was one of these people, but now it looks like she's using it a lot more often so I'm going to feel too guilty using her for a "app request fillelr". Hahaha.

There're just one of thousands of different applications that you can install on Facebook. Applications are things like games, quizzes, music, maps, all kinds of thrigs that make FB interactive with whoever you're friends with. Every time you install an application, it ALWAYS gives you the option if "inviting" your friends to use the same application. In fact, like I said in my last post, some applications don't even let you use them/play/access them UNLESS you send friends invites, although there are some that allow you to skip the inviting process. Every time you select a friend (and you can select a lot of them for each app), it sends a notification/app request to them that they can either A. Accept B. Ignore C. Block That's if they CLICK on the notifcation. I know some (like myself) who just let requests and notifications build up. You can just ignore them but then they get to be like "100" and "200" requests/notifications unseen over time. That's why it's best to block all requests from apps you never intend to use..because there's a lot of pointless ones out there. I use about 10 applications in total regularly (right now). Growing Gifts, Hatching Eggs, and WaterGlobes are all made by the same company and are related to each other. I usually send out one of each to all those friends who I know have those same applications and enjoy getting them. They're REALLY cool, I think. They would be the only apps I'd keep if I had to choose. Then there are gift giving ones that are less as great. Sending: Cakes, Ben and Jerry's, Perfume, and Disney Characters are ones I have but don't usually send out that often. I only send them out once a blue moon to others who I know have those apps. Then there are the Food Fight and The Bakery apps. Again, rarely do I send those out and then only to those who also have that app and who enjoy getting the daily food stuff thrown at them. Then there's the Super Hero app, which I use every other day or so and on those who also have it. And lastly, what you asked about, I am VERY BIG on the FFS, Owned, and Human Pet apps. Those are applications that allow you to buy and sell your friends (the ones on your friend's list). When one starts out on there, their price is low...but everytime someone buys them, the price grows more and more and the buyer has to pay a bit more each time. Every time someone BUYS a person from you, though, you EARN more and more each time. So let's say, on Owned, I own Cookies. Let's say her current price is 101 dollars. I pay 101 dollars to own her. She's now my "pet" and I can even give her a nickname. If someone wants to buy Cookies from me, they have to pay 151 dollars. And then I'd have to pay 251 dollars if I want to re-buy her. It keeps going up and the installments get farther apart and grow more expensive. HOWEVER, like I said, if she's bought from me, I get reimbursed the money I paid for her the first time (the 101) plus about 10 dollars extra. If I buy her back, the person who bought her from me is reimbursed 151 plus about 50 dollars. If someone buys her AGAIN from me, I'm reimbursed 251 and about 100 extra dollars. That's the way it is on all three of the buying friends apps. You can also get more money in all three by---guess what?---inviting your friends and sending those request/notifications out. So yeah, it can get annoying to people after awhile if you're constantly sending them those things so I don't do it often. I tend to only do it and play with others on my friends list who also play FFS, Owned, and Human Pets. I hope this TLDR post helped in making things more knowing for you, Kat (and anyone else who is interested)
