As the Teaser thread is now locked, I wanted to post a response to Hoopy's post (http://psychopathgame.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=hinaf&action=display&thread=381&page=12#26827) I suppose it depends on the definition of "win condition". The dehydrated pirates PM stated a win condition that was different than the win condition on the Penguin's PM. So, does "win condition" mean what you believe needs to occur for you to win (because that is what the Gastard Mod told you) or what actually needs to occur for you to win? I'm not quite sure I follow. (Of course part of that might be that I'm a few sheets to the wind right now.) I was completely supportive of the masons during Batman. But I will say that ultimately the win condition is what the mod says your win condition is. NAF admitted that he was always aiming for the Mason exclusive win condition if he could pull it off. Really, the masons did a lot of good for the town in Batman, and were part of the reason the town won. NAF getting the number breakdown of PFK and scum was key to my post where I ran the numbers and figured out that we were in a bad spot relative to scum, and the end result was us hitting a lot of scum in a row. Really, the game was stacked against town, but we managed to win due to a combo of luck and skill. And the masons were part of that, and fully deserved to win with town. NAF was playing for keeps, and I won't fault him for trying for the exclusive win. And I don't hold anything against the masons for being ignorant of their alternate win condition. After all, molefan had to vote Darth to seal the win, and he did, even though at the time he was suspicious of Rysto for not investigating Darth, because he was unaware that the Godfather usually shows up town to a Detective, which is why Rysto didn't bother investigating him. Rysto knew he was pretty much useless after outing BlaM. Story and I had the only useful powers left. Which is why Darth and BlaM targeted us. My ultimate point of the post you linked to was just to correct you on your statement that NAF played pro-town all the way. He didn't. He was playing his own side the whole time, and he wisely didn't reveal your secret win condition because he probably figured you wouldn't go along with it. Oh, and obviously from my other post, I have received my PM of my role. And since we can't strategize at night, I can't say anymore than that. I haven't even received my PM yet and this fun. And since I don't have it yet, my little civil disobedience exercise is to continue dissecting a game that is ancient history. I think there have been a couple of misunderstandings between Hoopy and I. I said (among other things): You singled that out and said (among other things): NAF did indeed choose to play pro-town, and the Batman Masons did indeed come quite close to a Mason-only win, however, I absolutely disagree that the Penguin's win condition "wasn't really separate" from ours. The way the role was written, it very well could have been. The only reason it turned out not to be was because of how NAF chose to play it. He could have just as easily used the rehydrated pirates like ignorant pawns. He could've kept us believing that our one and only win condition was to win with the town, and never said a thing about the exclusive Mason win condition until it was necessary to do so with whatever pirates were still alive when the move needed to be made. That's what I mean about how it depends on how one chooses to define "win condition". For half of the game we Pirate/Masons believed that we had only one win condition, that it matched NAF's, and that it matched that of the town. That is a completely different mind-set than knowing of the Pirate/Mason-only win condition. If I had been a pirate that died believing I was playing solely for the town win condition, but the win happened to go to the Pirate/Masons alone, I don't necessarily know that I'd be happy or felt like sharing in the celebrating. In fact, reading through the perfect-knowledge boards after I did die, there were a few statements from the Mods that kinda rubbed me the wrong way, basically crediting NAF with ideas/strategy that came from the Pirates only because NAF (being the one with the most perfect knowledge of any of us) happened to have that extra perfect knowledge and was positioned to make choices as whether or not to use those Pirate ideas in light of that perfect knowledge. Anywho, all that being said. The whole reason I brought up the Pirates and the Penguin and the flying fish was because I can see correlations to what may have influenced this game, in a good way.

Ok good. The Hoopy convo is fun. Made even more fun with the typos and brainfarts I've already found in my last post. I'm living proof that it is possible to play a game of Telephone all by yourself. Tonight, due to a pysics-defying dissapearing act of my check card and AmEx, I'm playing bartender with Bailey's, Kahlua, and soy milk (I know, but it is the only thing that even slightly resembles a mixer in our house) on the rocks, instead of going to see Dark Knight. By the time I finished realizing I'd dropped the cards out of my wallet, looking for them, canceled them, and fought with Amazon (trying to determine if a $40 that neither Kassia and I recognize was us or some punk who found my card in the parking lot of a gas station in Salinas or a piano store in Saratoga) all of the shows that had online ticket sales were sold out, and I couldn't even buy one with Kassia's card.

Well I will hang with you, I won't be able to see it till next weekend myself. That is if I can talk the soontobewife into going to a movie theater to see a popular movie (something she hates, but might be willing to do for me).

My submitted role:
Conspiracy Theorist (As we're dealing with aliens here) Abilities: If this character survives to the end of the game (Whether that be limited by days or characters alive), he has a 50/50 chance of figuring out who the bad guys are (Whoever they may be) or the underlying scheme (if there are no "bad guys" and the only antagonist is a plot device).
The numbers are up in the air, but the Conspiracy Theorist will have a chance to figure "things" out (Whatever you decide these things are) when the game is close to being over and he has survived to the end.
If you *really* wanted to be a bastard, you make this guy's role pivotal to the town, and make sure he doesn't even know it. That way he has to survive to the end for the town to have any hope of winning.
Also; I haff naught gutten mai Peh-Ehm. Thes makess William Wallace aingreh, indehd.

I think I'll be ok. I have strategies formulated for being a vanilla town, vanilla scum, serial killer, cop, doc, whiny vicious emo kid, pie eater, and hairy mammoth. I think that covers just about everything, don't you? For a moment I thought that read "Vermicious Kinid" which is from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory...of which I have just watched!

I sure as heck hope that the rest of you with night actions have gotten them into your appropriate MOD. And if not so, please do so quickly. There is a time element to all of this. Phucking Goderators. GD, this one is going to seriously take only genuine tequilla (the shit with the worm in the bottle) to figure out. Will have to muddle through with Chardonay until tomorrow. You are George Bush, a tool for Dick Cheney and his allies on the right (gotta figure a scum faction). During the Day you will make mindlessly meaningless malapropisms. However, during the night Dick will cause you to target an axis of evil. If that target is protected you will show remorse and out Dick. You and Dick may converse freely during the day and night.
That's what I should have sent.
Instead one of us poor souls is Mary Poppins with a fucking umbrella.

Couple of corrections there: 1) I never actually voted Darth, although I wanted to three or four times before he was actually killed off. I had a batarang in my head (newbies, don't even bother to ask). I couldn't vote anybody. I just urged everyone very strongly to vote Darth. In the end I would have - there was far more evidence against Darth than Rysto despite my doubts, and I was 99% sure of Sinjin - but as it turned out it didn't matter. 2) What everyone seems to ignore is that we would have won a lot sooner - two rounds sooner, in fact - if I'd had the balls to push my weight forward and insist on Darth being taken out before either DBI or BlaM. If that had happened, BlaM's last bullet ability wouldn't even have come into play before the game-winning lynch and we'd have avoided on night-kill (since BlaM didn't have that ability) as well as one unnecessary lynch (DBI). I should've insisted on that, and I didn't. I let myself be persuaded into lynching DBI (which, despite what Story says about the mistrust of PFKs in that game, actually looks like a pretty frikkin' dumb move now.) So I hardly think I personally excelled. 3) I didn't know anything about the exclusive win condition. That said, NAF had mentioned he was PFK but not given us the details as far as I can recall; I think I was under the impression that he had to have all four around for us to win exclusively. In actual fact it didn't particularly matter to me; as far as I was concerned, I was town and needed to kill the last scum to win, end of story. And talking of which... 4) After the game, I wrote a post saying that I credited the majority of the (town) win to the four players Rysto, Hoopy, Story and NAF. I wouldn't change that even knowing about NAF's PFK status or his secret win condition. BTW, I have my role PM now. Putting aside the question of actual role-claims for the moment, what I want to know is: does everyone else have their roles as well? Or is it just a few of us this time?
