What if the candy is a lie, and it's two scum setting up some kinda alibi. C'mon, man, it's not that easy. Yeah. I know you're new, but think about it. New? NEW?! I'm just back from sabbatical, and that's a winning record in my sig. =P I don't like this reasoning at all. It's a closed non-vanilla game--you do not have any idea how valuable your power may or may not be. If, for example, I'm right and he is Mister Sinister, he could EASILY be a permanent roleblocker. I'd be worried about recruitment if it wasn't in the opening that we didn't have to worry about that. I'm worried about anything Story and Kat have thought up that I haven't thought about. Jumping on a grenade is fine for vanilla townies, but since none of us are that, it behooves us to be careful whose candy we trust.

For the record, FlyingDrHorribleOfDoom just made my townie list. I'd be careful who you put your trust in this early...and especially saying aloud who you've got your trust in. People used to make lists about who they felt was "town" and "scum"...heck, some still do and I'm not saying that's overly a bad thing...but I think it's much better to just say who you're suspicious of than to say who you trust because if you are ever wrong, I feel it's giving the person in question more power to use it somehow. Not that I think FCOD is scummy in any way, right now. I've noticed, over the course of reading both the games I'm in and the games I'm not in how players act when they're scum and when they're not scum. For example...I think I have Drain Bead down pat. I was suspicious of her in all games I've played with her in EXCEPT Conspiracy I (and she wasn't scum in that one, although she was in all the others). I think I'm starting to get a feel for other players I've been playing with a long time, too. Nanook, I do, indeed, know who you are. I've followed you along in games as well..and this is now our third game together so that's not too bad. Regarding molefan- if this game has taught me anything it's: Be suspicious of those who have "gifts" to give out. Milk by Roosh, toys by me, tests that make people have BLUE pee by sinjin. I think it would be wise to establish an early explanation for anything he might have or that we may receive in the middle of the Nights....so it does seem shady and I would be willing to switch my vote for him if it's needed. I still don't feel Sinjin is a good vote just for voting for me/attacking me about my early claiming and not wanting to play...but again, I've experienced many times where people have thought of each other as scum the WHOLE game when they were really both Town. Sach and Shadowfacts and I in Conspiracy and BLaM and Storyteller in Firefly spring to mind as the ones with the most vitrol.

It's a closed non-vanilla game--you do not have any idea how valuable your power may or may not be. Oh really? You know better how valuable my power is than I do? Unless you're omniscient, I'll be the one who decides how valuable I am. I considered all of this before I offered to take candy. and I am obviously comfortable enough with the risk. --FCOD

If you're comfortable, you're comfortable. I don't think I'd be comfortable even if I was vanilla.

Ok, first a quick question from a newbie: FOS is an acronym for what?
Second, based on the replies to my comments earlier, I'm going to vote Molefan.
By lynching him, we get rid off what IMO is the most suspect player - he doesn't really provide enough information about his role or his candy to be helpful to town - so why disclose it at all? Second, we also find out more on FlyingDrHorribleOfDoom, who offered to eat the candy. If Molefan is scum, FlyingDrHorribleOfDoom is also a suspect candidate. Not that I think he is, but time will tell.
Idle and Sinjin are in the searchlights, obviously - but both of them are way to uncertain for a first-day lynching.

FOS stands for "Finger of Suspicion". If you FOS a player you've indicated that you're suspicious of them.

Finger Of Suspicion, Chucara. Some players use it to get an opinion on record without actually placing a vote.
I also am going to Vote molefan[/color]. The cases for and against Idle and Sinjin are nothing more than steaming piles of WIFOM right now. On the other hand, I don't believe mole's actions are protown, and I'm a little worried that he wasn't the first to bring up the "candy". Hoopy was. I feel like he's making this up (a concern he could address with a rapid and complete roleclaim, FWIW).
I still want to trigger a countdown, so I may move this vote to whoever else is the vote leader, if it looks to do any good.

Well you guys know Idle better than me and if you think he's really a Doc and claimed at the beginning of Day one because he didn't really want to play that's cool. It will all come out in the end. So unvote IdleBut this game is already full of surprises. We have molefan peddling candy 1 to kiddies He doesn't know what the candy does, and he won't tell us who he is, but he's harmless, really, trust him. And then FCOD jumps right in and takes molefan's candy because his role is so minor his death is unimportant to the game. Am I getting this right? I haven't read comic books for, well, let's just say a number of years. But I feel like I've stepped into Bizarro land here. 1Googling I've only found two references to X-men, who I think are marvel super heroes, and candy. I think we can rule out the second, who has the ability to change the color of candy with his mind. At least I hope we can rule him out. WARNING!!!! above link may not be work safe. The things you learn by Googling.

Again, I did not claim on Day one because I didn't want to play. I didn't want to play BEFORE I was put into the game. Now that I'm in the game, I have said numerous times that
I will play.
You hear that, Sinjin? I said, I will play. I just didn't want to play BEFORE I was put into the game.
The reason I claimed on Day one (which I have also said, twice) is just to make it easier for me. To not have to worry about anything other than just reading and voting. This way I have nothing to hide and all my cards on on the table from the start. Can I be any more clear on that? That is the reason I claimed...not because I didn't want to play. Has that gotten through yet? Because more and more the fact that you seem to be PURPOSEFULLY MISCONSTRUING what I'm saying (or just flat out IGNORING IT) makes me grow more and more wary of you.

chucara,
As a rule of thumb, town members tend to be more paranoid than scum, because they have a lesser idea of what is going on. Thus, I think FCOD acceptance of candy as a mild scum tell.
Idle,
What would have your early play been like if you were scum and didn't really want to play at that point?

Mods, will you please break Idle's font size abuse?:{size=77}I will play{/size}. (size broken) People, please don't do this. It messes up this message board's columns and makes the game hard to read. I'm very tempted to vote for Idle simply for doing it, and will probably vote for the next person who does. I'd rather remove players who do it (or be lynched myself) and lose the game then try to go through a pain-in-the-ass-to-read thread. (Yes, this is my frustration from the last game coming through, but it makes things that not fun for me.) [/rant off]

MR. THOUGHTS, I HAVE REDUCED THE FONT SIZE TO A LEVEL THAT DOESN'T INTERFERE WITH THE DISPLAY, BUT THAT HOPEFULLY CONTINUES TO CONVEY THE INTENDED EFFECT. Don't you still have to worry about WiFoMing with the scum, too? And submitting your night role? I don't see how the WIFOMing puts the pressure on me. All I have to do is make the decisions. It's the scum who have to go through the bouts of WIFOM. That's sort of a non-issue of worry as it doesn't require much work whereas reading and trying to choose who is the best vote is a tad more strenious in the game (I would think). And about my text sizes..I will stop doing it when people start HARPING ON MY NOT WANTING TO PLAY THE GAME which HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GAME. I didn't want to play. I WILL now that I'm in. Period. It's very easy and it's very simple. Stop going on about it, people. The fact that I didn't want to play HAS NO CONNECTION TO ANYTHING I HAVE DONE IN THIS GAME other than the fact that I just wanted to make things easier for me. But it's getting on my nerves extremely that it keeps on being brought up. Enough to where I'm about to ask Storyteller or Kat to please TELL EVERYONE that I DIDN'T ASK TO PLAY and tried to get out of it just so people will STOP MAKING IT AN ISSUE.

Also, if a countdown is not required to lynch, how will ties be decided should someone not reach the countdown threshhold at all?

Notes made as read through. Ok, as far as Idle Thoughts vs Sinjin and Squid goes. I haven't got a clue. As far as Idle Thoughts goes, to me his actions are about as decipherable as zuma. Regardless, I would be very surprised if he didn't have a trick or two up his, or should that be her, sleeves. As for sinjin and Squid. It's slightly surprising that sinjin got a lot of heat for it, but no-one seemed to pick up on Squid for it? Now, I am not saying that Squid is scum or town, but I will be looking at those people who seemed to use sinjin as an easy Day 1 target seeing as Squid was the first person to vote for Idle Thoughtsmolefan1981: Picked up on Hoopy's comment about candy and has run with it. It is now a frail old man who is totally harmless, while dodging around a name claim, let alone a roleclaim, while saying he is happy to do so? Of course, if Hoopy is right and molefan1981 is giving out candy, I would like to know how he knew about it in the first place? So at this point in time vote molefan
