Honestly, I only started enjoying football (as opposed to being a warm body for my roommate's team) when I literally made a Marine ROTC jock weep openly because I crushed him and sacked his QB so many times.
The nice thing about lineman is that you get to hit someone even if you're playing flag football--and then it's a bonus because he's not wearing enough padding to stop a pistol shot. Really, it's not sport unless someone is learning to be on eating terms with mud.

NETA: being far and away the best defensive lineman in the league is the best way to get good non-pileon tackles in American football--it got to the point where I was averaging 1-2 solo sacks and a deflected pass or kick per QUARTER, let alone per game.

Um, I played basketball in middle school. I scored a point once. It was awesome. Final score of that game? 41-5, lost to our rivals. Ouch.

Heh, I wouldn't be bragging on that league if it wasn't so low in competition--we were good, but we weren't THAT good.

Okay, so I only speak like, 17 words of Spanish, but Decisiones is pretty much the most entertaining non-animated thing on network TV. Tonight's episode is about an angry cowgirl stripper. I think.

Good job, town! I don't care if it was only a PFK lynch, that PFK was too dangerous to keep around!

Hello, all -
First, thanks to all who offered well-wishes either on the board or by PM. Yesterday wasn't the best day in our history, but our cat was plainly suffering and today, she isn't, at least.
Still, I'll raise a pretend glass of pretend alcohol on this pretend night, in honor of a real cat who watched vigilantly over my daughter every night of her life. Miranda, salut, and good luck. We are glad you came into our lives.
-----------------
Also: the Night will end sometime tomorrow, likely at or around 9:00AM. Please get Night actions in by this time; as of this writing we've received relatively few.
Thanks!

Well said, story. It's amazing how much of an impact animals can make on our lives and how they can truly become part of the family. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Here's to the cat. I find it best to imagine a totally caring God, so let's assume she's playing with live "mice" made entirely of pressed tuna.

Storyteller, I'm sorry about the cat. It's always sad when a pet comes to the end of their life.
Yattara was also sad to hear this.

Heh. I made some enchiladas on Sunday. When I took the pan out of the oven, I grabbed it immediately after, and burned the shit out of all my fingers. About two minutes later, I completely forgot I had -just- burned myself, and grabbed it AGAIN!
My enchilada recipe is awesome, though:
Two cans family size cream of mushroom. 1 large or 2 medium onions 2 pounds meat (beef, chicken...) Few cloves garlic 1 large container green or red chile
Heat everything to a simmer, then layer with a couple dozen corn tortillas and 2 lbs cheese.
Pure bliss!
