Ah, it's a lonely sojourne here at Skeleton Island. The only good thing is that I will soon be getting company from the ship. I only hope that the next straggler on to the island is one of the vile bandwagon-rattlers. I can hardley wait!

Well, KatiRoo, I defended you and ended up here. I guess I have to hope that the pirates felt threatened by my dazzling wit. Yep, that's the ticket!

Apparently you were the most threatening to the pirates. Unfortunately, I appeared the most threatening to the crew. *sigh*

Alas, I'm resigned to my fate of self-imposed exile here on Skeleton Island. *sniff*

*Swims ashore* Glad I found that can of shark repellent then. That and the training in holding my breath should have shaken them off. *Sits back and waits for the development of AZT's roleclaim Tomorrow.* Oh, and thanks for the rum.

Ok, now that I can ask silly questions without being accused of being a pirate.
Do we get to find out who the pirates are?
It's a damned shame that I have to be dead to be vindicated, but I'm damned curious if my suspicions were right.

All will be revealed at game end. I'll say nothing for now in case someone should accidentally hit this thread with a search.

Wooot! I'm dead! I guess I fulfilled my duty as a crewmember. Welcome to the afterlife. Have an iced daiquiri. *Hands her a tall, frosted glass that radiates cold.* It's a shame you didn't spot the flaw in the argument that hung you in time. (I didn't either - I spotted it just after you were hung. Not that it would have helped if I had seen it earlier of course.) Let's kick back, enjoy the sun and the booze, and watch our ex-shipmates tear each other apart.

So can we talk about what is going on in the game? And what we think of it?
Or who we, from our lonely little island think might be pirates?

Actually I can see one problem with that, and its that the search function will inevitably pick up these posts and put them at the top of the results. But in general terms, why not? Just be circumspect about specifics.
It's nice and confusing there Today, isn't it?

As a novice GM I was wondering if I'd balanced this game up OK, but judging by the amount of play that's being generated, it seems I haven't done too bad a job. ;D

Having had some experience in games with open Investigators, I do have some ideas about how to approach the situation. But being dead, can't share them with the crew... ah well.
Most of the heat is being generated by the roleclaim and the assertion that IT attacked Zuma. I know how I'd normally proceed but one unique part of Steele's role is giving me a bit of a pause. Once the town actually test the claim, things should settle down. Unless future night actions keep the pot boiling.
(If you want more details, I can PM you; just not today).

*sets up a rum for zuma.*
You said in the ClockwkJackl thread (misspelled in case of searches) that Nite 3 would have looked funny to me. It came close to being funnier, let me tell you. Logs will be published at end of game.

Is it safe for scum in here?
*looks around nervously*
Hah. I can't imagine how night three could have looked any more ridiculous to you... I'll be looking forward to finding out.
Sneaky Sam was a fun role... I got really lucky with the two officers coming out on day 2. I was also fortunate that none of the three officers threw any suspicion at each other... Indeed I was surprised how easily I was able to narrow the list down.
The rest of the time I was pretty much flying by the seat of my pants.
I hope it's not too evil that I was laughing so hard I was literally crying during Idle's 24-point font protests.

'Twas well played, sir. You nearly got away with it on Day Four - unlucky for you that eventually someone asked the right question! It'll be interesting to see how your info will affect the strategy of both sides.

Since it's now out, I'll admit that the unique part of Steele's role I referred to above was the fact that if he watched himself and was killed, his killer would show signs of the struggle.
I was really expecting someone to have to ask, but obviously that was wrong.
All I can say is that Zuma made a sneaky Sneaky Sam.

I expected them to ask too, mhaye. I knew that could be my eventual downfall. I figured it was 50/50 that the markings thing would apply even if CS was doc-protected.
I was going to PM mal about it, but it would be hours before he got back to me.
I had to post something, and obviously I could not go into the night with any risk that the pirates would target me again. The Idle frame seemed like the best option. It would alert the pirates that I was On their side, plus I might get away with getting Idle strung up.
At worst, I'd be exposed and the crew would waste a lynch on me. And I believe it was a wasted lynch. I had no real value once I outed FCOD as the doc. They're celebrating in their night thread, but they'd have been better off lynching someone at random rather than me.

Sure, I figured you'd see a lynch of you as a waste of the crew's Day. At least it meant they didn't reduce their own vote count, but it doesn't reduce the pirates' either.

Ack, this is frustrating, just reading along like this.
So, Mal, without revealing too much, is the crew in as much trouble as it seems to me that they are? They still haven't caught a single pirate, they're down quite a few and have three of the four power roles exposed, they have no true detective, and even catching zuma doesn't seem to generate any new information, really.

Well, things have gone about as much the pirates' way as they could expect, bar killing Steele. But Steele is a powerful role - theoretically if there were three night-killers at work, all targeting different people, Steele could get info by watching any of six people. Alternatively, if he opts to watch himself, the scum can't off him without at best a one-for-one trade. If one of the night-killers hits Ben Gunn, that's another crew-aligned vote straight away, even though the pirates lose nothing. So there's still a fair bit of play left.
...And of course the crew are getting more likely to hit scum with every Day that passes. ;D

This is why I suggested putting this forum under password and then handing out the password, in PM, to those who die on Nights. Because then searching posts does NOT bring up posts in here (unless someone knows the password).
Good idea? It's up to you, Mal.

The Idle killing perplexes me. If it was the pirates that did it, it was an odd choice.
I either did or didn't investigate Idle night one. If I did, I'd have no way of knowing if he was Steele, just that he was crew. If I didn't, it probably meant I thought he was Steele and had no concrete evidence as to his affiliation.
In either case Idle would have certainly counter-claimed Steele once I fingered him, if he were Steele.
It's possible Dick killed Idle, but Pleonast and AZ looked to be very attractive Dick targets (maybe Dick was worried that Pleo or AZ were being watched?).
Maybe the pirates went after a self-protecting FCOD, Dick killed Idle, and Ben is now activated and saw something in Auto that I missed? That's the only one that makes any real sense.
I was pretty sure I'd be welcoming Pleonast to this thread, and was pretty sure nobody would touch Idle. Shows what I know.

Yeah.. it'd be nice to have active players locked out of this thread.
I'd like to be a lot more forthcoming and actively speculate on a few things. I have a pretty strong suspicion as to who one of the pirates is, but can't really say anything yet...

Sure. And it's even more of an advantage now that the other admin is out of the game. Therefore you can rest assured that, unless they know the password, NOBODY will be able to get in, access, or read anything said in this forum. Topic or posts or otherwise. Not even on a search.
The only way to get password protected forum posts to be on a search is if two things are the case at the same time: A. One knows the password and B. One has entered the password into the forum that requres one.
And even WHEN they do B, they'll have to do B every day as it times out (meaning that we, too, will always have to type in the password again every time we visit).
So I'll set one that's not easy to guess and PM it to already dead.
Oh, and no need, zuma. I thought it was really smart and clever and well-played. I was never upset or mad hahaha, just manic trying to get people to believe me. Really, until the revelation came, there wasn't much I could say in defense. Good move, sir.
