Thought there should be a thread for semi-extra-gamey issues. Would it be worthwhile to make a "review" thread or post with the collated old posts from googlegroups? Also the players list and rules sheet? Should we adopt the green vote count and orange FOS?

Also should we adopt Mal's Greenwich time zone for the board to reduce confusion about game Night and Day?
ETA: and Idle Thoughts, what's the rumpus on editing posts? Is there a time out? I suspect there should be. . .

I think Mal already gave blue and red for voting & unvoting.
How about the [glow=red,2,300]Glowing Finger of Suspicion[/glow]
The [shadow=red,left,300]Shadowy Suspect's Shadow[/shadow]?
I guess I can't get those to show up in my browser. Never mind.
Maybe the Lime Green finger of Scurviness.
testing : does editing show up? (editing @ 17:30 GMT w/DST on)

Query: does this board have a "sort by userid" function? It might be useful for catching out inconsistencies in a player's posts.

Also, is to too early to request subs for those players who haven't at least checked in with one of the boards?

Query: does this board have a "sort by userid" function? It might be useful for catching out inconsistencies in a player's posts. I don't quite understand your question. If you mean a list that sorts the members in various ways like by post count or by group or by alphabetical order, just go to the index, down to the bottom and click on the number of members there are. This will bring up a list of members/players that you can then sort various ways (like by post count, etc). If you're asking if there's a way to just see all of a person's posts, all you do is click on their name to view their profile and then type in the number of posts of theirs as far back as you want to see them (the default number in the box will be 10, but you can change it to whatever number you wish). It also lists the single posts of the last five posts they made anywhere on the boards. I think you, NAF could also use this to link to specific posts.

Also, on EVERY post, at the bottom of them, there is a thing that says "Link to post". You can click this and also link to specific posts.

Ideally, such a link would go in the already extant thread about this game.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking (and just about to reply with)(with what fluiddruid just posted). I mean, if people not in the game want to watch along, that's fine. But I don't really think a topic would be needed for it. : P hahaha. I think I have more of an opinion on this (read: stronger) being the owner of this site as I wouldn't want to get in trouble in any way in having the powers that be think I'm advertising or trying to draw people away.
So, if anything, I was about to say that just a small link in the already made thread over there would suffice, but on preview I see fluiddruid was already of a like-mind.

I'd like to float a suggestion for alternate rules to deal with the situation currently developing in the main thread. That is, the tied vote. My suggestion is The Runoff. In the event that the deadline passes with a tie for who will be hanged, a runoff vote be held. - Players may only vote for one of the people who finished the main vote period in the lead (in this case any one of Autolycus, Capybara and KatiRoo).
- Votes for the tied players stand, and all others are voided. Players may freely vote and change votes up until the runoff deadline.
- The runoff vote ends 24 hours after the main vote. If the vote is still tied, then the GM shall randomly decide between the tied voters.
Alas, this didn't save me from the nightmare situation - that my random selection would decide the game. (Three players remaining, two votes placed, one of which was for the remaining Mafioso). The missing player stayed missing. The die was rolled, and came up that the townie player was hanged... Unfortunately it may well be too late to institute this for the Day's lynch, but I offer it as a suggestion for the future.

I have a couple of suggestions/requests:
1. Could we post the day/time of the Day's end somewhere (perhaps a thread in this forum for the purpose?) It's hard to find sometimes and it's really important if we want to manage our last-minute bandwagonning.
2. When posting vote counts, can we use the phrase "vote count" in the post, to make it easier to find with control+F?
Thanks!

The Runoff doesn't sound too bad, but it seems like it could be abused. If the pirates just need to get a crewmate in a runoff, it might end up saving more pirates at the eleventh hour. What about a situation where the top vote-getters somehow absolve themselves (e.g. a late role-claim, etc.) - then you end up forced to choose someone you know shouldn't die, when another candidate could be better.
As an informal rule, though, maybe it's decent. Is there a compelling reason to formalize it?
24 hours seems a bit much for a vote when most people have come to a decision. I like the current 9 hours,(or 12) in case of a tie, then penalty kicks.
I mean coin flips.

Shouldn't he be doing that when it's tied and the day is coming to an end? Either way, I would still rather the final lynch come down to the crew rather than a coin flip because, with a coin flip, there's no accountability except for either forcing or not breaking a tie. However, if we have a run off, we may end up choosing between to crewmates, but at least there's accountability.

On another issue, Mal, when you end the day, do you also have the ability to lock threads? I think it would be cool if, when you post the final vote tally, you can lock the thread, then open a night thread for all the fun talk, and then, once again, lock the night thread when the new day dawns. This way, when we're looking back at previous days, we don't have to look through a bunch of fluff.

This is a great suggestion. And keeping some easily accessible tally, somewhere, of the final vote count for each day would be awesome as well.

Mal could make the Final post in the thread the final vote count before he locks it. That would make things easy.
Also Mal, would it be cool if you gave us the names of who voted as well as who did the voting. This has become kinda standard practice for the game mods, but I understand if you decide it is too much work. BELIEVE me, I understand.

The names of who voted in addition to who was voted for.

I was actually thinking that Skell. Island would be better password protected (as specific forums on here can be made to have a password before you have access to them). I dunno. Probably just one of those things that seem like a good idea at the time, which is why I'm posting it to get opinions. But even if people like it, it's up to you, Mal.
