What sach said. It's potentially easier to see patterns when the vote only goes one level deep. But it still should be there regardless of the depth and numbers. It's kind of like the NY Times CW puzzle. It just gets tougher the deeper in and the later in the week you get. But the good players still fill it out.
Meh, my two cents.

OK, I need a clarification before I join the debate:
If I don't vote for three candidates each day my vote doesn't count? If I only vote for one or two candidates none of my votes count? What if I only find one person scummy, do I have to vote for two folks I find non-scummy in order for my real vote to count?

What if I only find one person scummy, do I have to vote for two folks I find non-scummy in order for my real vote to count? Correct. The current game we have going on Facebook uses the borda style, and what some people do if they only find one or two players scummy is place 'placeholder' votes for people that are in no danger of being lynched. Of course, then you don't really leave an accurate vote count, so it's not really a great idea. If you really only find one person scummy, though, there's not much else you can do. :/ A better idea, however, is to use your second and third votes as a means of FOSing someone. That way, after your death, others can see who you found suspicious and why, since FOSes aren't really kept track of. shaggy (I think that's your username, Phil) was the one who suggested it, and it's a pretty good idea IMO.

What if I only find one person scummy, do I have to vote for two folks I find non-scummy in order for my real vote to count? Yes. If you really don't find three players scummy, you'll have to put votes on non-scummy players. I'd suggest voting for players in no danger of being lynched in this case. While early and late in the game not having many suspects is bound to happen, in the mid game Town should not accept this excuse. The real benefit of the Borda count is that it forces players to put out their opinions on multiple players at once. We would be giving up that advantage if we allowed players to punt on their second and third votes after there's enough information(and still enough scum) out there for people to start making opinions on multiple players at once.

<game mode off and because I don't feel like bumping the other thread> You. Whoever you are, you have the coooolest avatar; Yosuke's the best. *high five* Persona 4's the best 85 hours I've wasted on a game in recent memory. Now if only somebody knows where my name change came from we'll be cooking with fire. (I know at least one person here does.) <game mode on> 1. 5 day Day/2 day Night 2. Doesn't seem like this is needed anymore, but I like Rysto's plan. 3. Sure why not. Makes things a bit interesting and the other Borda Count game I was completely the suck in.I don't really see how this Borda count discussion differs in any way from regular voting. What Mhaye's suggesting is the equivalent of one person switching their vote to one of the two leading vote-getters because they don't consider the other one suspicious in a normal voting game. It's not inherently scummy to do that, but it doesn't mean that scum won't try to save their buddies by doing it. And I'd just like to bring up (as it will probably come up later) that lurking =/= equal scum. Some scum will lurk, but it's the circumstances that need to be analyzed. If somebody garners a lot of suspicion and has been heavily active, but then drops off in activity...that's suspicious behavior. And also, having an opinion that's not equal to the majority's opinion is not inherently scummy either. Sometime townies disagree. We're going to have to live with it. Finally, the set-up. We've got scum and an "impostor." It seems like that means there's only 1 PFK, at least to me. Agree or disagree? Oh and one more thing. From the "A few things" thread: SCUM (Smasher Community United for Mutiny) wins when they control the voting, and thus, control the arena. Also, the impostor must be killed (or trophyfied). (underlining mine) O Great Mod, is trophyfying (trophify?)= lynching, or are my powers of observation just awesome? 'Cause I didn't see anything about trophijtioauelfkjadfksjbaing in any of the rules threads, just killing.

On the imposter: it means there is exactly one malicious PFK who will directly interfere with your win condition. It says nothing about how many 3rd parties are in this game (except that there's at least one). And trophyfying and lynching are two different things. So are trophyfying and killing, for that matter. However, a trophyfied player is equivalent to a dead player.

(I know at least one person here does.) It's my current favorite game, and it's in my all-time favorite series. Win. &I seem to remember your name being a Psych quote? But then, I just got done watching it, so I could just have Psych on the brain. *In Game* So I'm guessing that trophyphying is either related to a bomber or is a serial killer's signature? I haven't played SSBB, but I think trophies were a concept that was introduced in SSBM. I could be wrong, though. It's been years, but that's beside the point. Either way, I don't think we should be too hung up on what trophyphying means just now, except that we know it's bad for town.

Well it appears to be a 5-2 cycle. Which is cool. I like a shorter cycle, personally, but what the whoo.
Is there any way that this group could commit to getting their votes in a little earlier regardless of the cycle? It seems that we have gotten into the rut of late votes, a claim and then a mass exodous to some other poor soul. Just saying, especially with our vote structure that it could be helpful. And this is not to suggest that someone do something uncomfortable or unreasonable. Just that sooner seems to work out better than later.
Can at least one of the Days be a Saturday or Sunday?.
I still have difficulty getting on at work and would tremendously appreciate having some potential coherent post possibilities.

Now if only somebody knows where my name change came from we'll be cooking with fire. (I know at least one person here does.) I'd say "from my nephew" but his quote is actually something about a cat on fire in his pants, so probably not. Neat. Probably means our malicious PFK is a serial trophyist or something. Probably not, since the imposter (i.e. the malicious PFK) is the one that needs to be killed or trophyfied. I doubt they'd trophyfy (trophyfie?) themselves*. So trophyfying (trophyfi-ing?) would need to be done by a Townie, a scum or an alternate PFK. *Unless there's a way to bounce the power back on themselves, which I doubt.

I could be wrong, though. It's been years, but that's beside the point. Either way, I don't think we should be too hung up on what trophyphying means just now, except that we know it's bad for town. Because I seem to be the only one geeky enough to be deeply familiar with the color, I will answer any color-related questions, as long as they don't unduly affect the gamestate. In the Super Smash Bros Brawl universe, whenever someone takes enough damage, they are turned into a trophy instead of being killed. Tabuu invented a weapon that could instatly trophyfy someone, and he handed it out to all his minions--Ganondorf, Bowser, King Dedede, Wario, and the Ancient Minister (who was actually R.O.B.). They used these machines in their overall plan, which was to immobilize anyone powerful enough to stop them (i.e. the good smashers) and drag our world into Subspace, bit by bit. Later in the game, Dedede betrays the villians (but they all betray each other over the course of Adventure Mode), and works out a way to reverse the trophyfycation remotly (as touching a trophy's base will reverse it). This becomes important later on, as Tabuu unleashes a super attack that turns everyone into a trophy, and the three people who had the trophyfycation reversing badges have to go and save everyone else. Also, in both Super Smash Bros Melee and Super Smash Bros Brawl, trophies were little collectibles that could be earned through various ways--bonus minigames, picking them up in adventure mode, doing something a lot, etc. These trophies did not actually affect gameplay, but they were bragging rights if you got a lot of them. Also, in Super Smash Bros Brawl, there's a particular item called the Assist Trophy. If you find one and use it, a minor character from a Nintendo or relevant 3rd party franchise game will pop out and do something. This something usually affected your opponents negatively, as all items tend to do.

Understood. But I firmly believe that NOT promising to prosecute such behavior firmly will lead to giving scum a free hand. So, if you're Town, please please please be very sure before gaming the vote. If you're Scum, of course, feel free to be exceptionally careless.
