I'm watching the Super Bowl and won't likely have anything of substance to add until tomorrow, but this needs to be mentioned again: Ed is 3 first place votes (8 points) away from triggering the countdown, so even if you are going to vote for him, STOP DOING IT.PSA over

I thought our votes didn't count until we all added second and third votes. Is this incorrect Mods?I read the thread back before this was stated and it was just "32 points triggers a countdown" then came back and saw the latest post update and totally panicked lol. Then I went back to re-read and saw the clarification. Asked and answered I'd say. My fault.

How else would you expect us to vote? Do you have another opinion/suggested course of action? Care to share it? You haven't been very prolific in your posts to date. How about starting now?

Sinjin, I'm not being critical... I am just used to people yelling if others start voting too early in the day. It was really just a simple question. As for my course of action, when I have one I will be happy to share it. I apologize if my wait and see tendencies are pissing people off. Unfortunately I've played with only a few of you before, so I am still trying to gauge what's going on here.

Unfortunately I've played with only a few of you before, so I am still trying to gauge what's going on here. It is never too early to start voting. As long as you don't trigger the countdown, the earlier you get things on record the (usually) better. It gives people more time to evaluate what it is you have to say. There's a reason I didn't vote Parzival yesterDay, even though I though his reason for voting for me was bad. Bad reasoning itself is a null tell. However, scummy reasoning can often masquerade as bad reasoning. The hard part is discerning which is which. Since no one other than peeker had voted yet, I felt Parzival getting a vote in when he did was a pro-town play, even though I thought the vote itself (inlcuding the cases against sinjin and molefan) left a lot to be desired. It spurred discussion and brought him a lot of heat. Spurring discussion is pro-town. Bringing heat on yourself for no apparent reason is usually something scum try to avoid, particularly on Day 1. Like everyone else, I'll be voting for Ed as first choice, but I need to review yesterDay before I decide who my other two will be.

Also, aubby, even though you cannot officially vote at the moment, the pro-town thing to do is to vote anyway (with reasons why). That way the rest of us can get more of a reading if you're a good Smasher or one of the SCUM. Maybe use Orange instead of blue to avoid confusing the mobs .

Ok, I see what you guys are saying.
An obvious FOS on Ed. He's the great bambozzler.
I would probably throw a FOS at Parzival because he seemed a little harsh on Sinjin for asking questions in Day 1. However, his reason for voting Sinjin was because Sinjin seemed paranoid. At first that seemed a little harsh to me. However, in reading Sinjin's response in D1. 229, it seems a little overly defensive. Now, maybe that's Sinjin's playing style, but to jump on BrokenTree in post D1.216 for not seeing Parzival's actions as scummy... seemed like maybe Sinjin was trying to push others into agreeing. So at this point, I'm not sure which way I'd take it.

Post by Natlaw on Feb 2, 2009 15:59:43 GMT -5
Note that I removed the restriction, as it potentially helps scum. It also doesn't materially affect why I think I should stay around. Since this role affects other roles - and they will know when I use it - I'm confirmable at least to one or more persons *. The downside of this is that they'd have to be a power role (and they'd need to eventually be outed/confirmed in some other way). Personally, I feel this outweighs lynching me now. *I'm assuming that my power is unique, and really, I can't see a good reason for a similar role in this game. So even though I won't be confirmed as myself, I presume anyone who gets an assist is going to get it from me. The role itself seems to be a town one, since we had a 50% vigilante to boost, but Zeriels kill was a Day action (but killed at Dawn), so not if he could be boosted. MiteyMouse was a tracker who might have been boosted to see what happen in addition of just who. But my main reason to think it is town (if true) is that if it was a SCUM power it would always be a guaranteed boost. Of course, it can only boost one action a Night, so could be balanced around that. The power can be confirmed, but again only the power, not Parzivals alignment. Not sure what kind of vote count people are normally lynched with borda voting (max points D1 was 144 or 72 for only first votes). Both roxis and Parzival claimed when about half the players had voted and they had 11 resp. 12 votes. Numberwise it seems not much, but then again it doesn't take much on Day One to lynch. Talking about votes, Parzival was one of the few to not have his first vote for a mason (the others were Sachertorte and sinjin (only a partial vote)). I'm leaning toward zeriel for Mason I least trust. I'm split between the others, so I'm only going to add one point for him. [The Borda count with three targets presents some fascinating options.] The masons ended with gaps of about a dozen points, so two points didn't make a hard difference. But not voting another mason, you kept the point difference between them the same (+1 for Zeriel over the other is the same as +3 for him and +2 for the other). However, since your other votes were prodding votes, I would have voted +3 for the most scummiest mason, so that single vote would have had more effect. Another thing odd about the final Day One vote count is that no-one first voted Mr Special Ed. Perhaps because no town voted like that, SCUM didn't want to stand out. Unfortunately that didn't hurt them, but it could mean the later voters who didn't vote for MiteyMouse first are more likely to be SCUM, since they knew he would turn up town and MM had the lead first (IIRC).

Stop breathing so hard peeks, it doesn't help. Hope you like sleeping on your back. Really though, take care, drugs are good. Well stop it with your uber hotness, then. I am currently looking for an anaerobic environment to exist in the next FOUR weeks. Uh, drugs, at least the distillery type were kind of contributory. Not current usage but most certainly a vestige from a much more, shall we say, non selective portion of my life. And sleeping on my back is not an option. The monsters live underneath the bed. To turn one's back on them seems like less than prudent advice. I mean, seriously, as they tunnel through the matress they won't be observed until their attack is well underway.

Well, it looks like someone has definitively settled the question of the SCUMmy Mason Overnight. I had been pondering whether to advocate letting them alone and seeing if we could bluff the SCUM into killing the non-infiltrator while we studied their posts for clues. Guess we don't have to do that any more.
While I think about who to vote for (apart from the obvious) I'm going to be content with a statement of intent to vote for Mr Special Ed unless an even bigger smoking gun comes out.
And now off to the minigame for a few hours. Unless my lack of sleep catches up with me. (You try crashing on a friend's couch at 4am after he fails to deliver on a promise that he'll be able to give you a lift home, and what's a little snow?)
