Day 3
Feb 7, 2009 20:13:16 GMT -5
Post by Trepa Mayfield on Feb 7, 2009 20:13:16 GMT -5
The thing about mansions is that, no matter how big a house gets, certain things remain the same. Especially when the house is a glorified apartment complex. For example, there's still only one dining room. Sure, it may be the size of a cafeteria, and they may have separate rooms for the kitchen, regular food storage, and cold storage, but there's still only one of each. Currently, two early risers--Hoopy Frood and Natlaw--were eating breakfast, waiting for the other smashers to arrive. And as they ate, Hoopy noticed a feather. It wasn't a bird feather, it was too light and white...more like an angel feather. And, looking around, there were a few more, in a vague path off to the bedrooms. Curious, Hoopy followed it. The feathers got thicker and thicker, until eventually he arrived at sinjin's room. He pounded on the door and got no answer. Natlaw ambled over, along with molefan and Pollux De Fuego, who had just woken up. Together, they were able to open the door. There sinjin laid, dead in her bed. A pool of blood trickled off the bed, along with a bunch of bloody feathers that filled the room. Further investigations found an odd stab wound in her back and a head lacking hair...weird. It also found a mystical shield, along with a list of people she was trying to protect.
Sinjin, the angel Pit (Town Aegis) is dead.
Suddenly, a shout was heard! The four of them, along with more people waking up ran to Kat's room, where the shout came from. She opened the door, alive but in pain. "You okay, Kat?" asked peeker. "Yeah, I'm fine. I've got this huge headache, though. I don't know why...I just woke up and my head hurt...must have been a bad dream. I'm okay. Just help me, there, tdpatriots, I'm fine." she said.
Kat is still alive, though a little hurt.
As they went to a nice sitting room in the mansion to start talking, they saw an odd statue near the bookshelf. It was of a little boy, wearing a baseball cap and cheery clothes, and with his hands on his temples in concentrations. No-one could recognize it, though. Nanook went up to look closer, and at the figure's feet were a bunch of clothes. Further inspection reveals that it was the disguise used by the one calling himself Rysto.
Rysto, also Ness (Town Detective), has been trophyfied (killed).
Surely, that was everyone, right? The sun had risen a while ago, and the loud yell meant that everyone should be awake. A quick headcount was made, to discover that MHaye was still missing. His room door was open, and MHaye was not inside, so perhaps he was still alive too? The smashers searched everywhere in the house, but could not find him. They searched through the gardens, the balconies...finally, they found him at the harbor. He had been fixing up a small sailboat, working alone for who knows how long. He had stopped working, I'm guessing, the minute the sword entered his chest.
Toon Link (Town Paranoid Doc/Commuter), disguised as MHaye, is dead.
Not an auspicious morning.

Wow... Well.. Three dead town? Yikes.
I could buy that sinjin was killed by a vig, which would leave one for scum, and possibly one for a SK. I'll have to reread Rysto to see if he left a breadcrumb for his investigation.

Due to the above, I will vote as normal, unless someone opposes. (It might be confusing)

So I've really never been a guy for subtlety and codes.
I have....something. I found it last Night. It's useless to me, but apparently it's golden to somebody else. And according to Mr. Mod up there, I have to give it to said person in the thread here. Now I suppose I could wait until Night to give it up, but I don't know if what I got corresponds to a Day action or a Night action or if it's any action at all.
So, you know, if you're looking for something, just pop on down to Pollux's Lost and Found and give me a description of the item you're looking for. 'Cause I'd hate to give it to the wrong person and all.

That's a lot of dead bodies. And it would seem a fair number of protective roles gone from the game.
So long Rysto, Sinjin, and MHaye. It seems at least half my suspicions so far have been of good town roles.
I didn't think of Rysto & MHaye as interacting all that much, it seemed. Sinjin had some more discussion but I'm not sure it's terribly revealing, other than her motives can be trusted.
I'm not in need of anything, Pollux.

Ouch, that hurts town. peeker: I think pedescribe said they were different things, but basically the same effect. Looks like trophyfying wasn't a power of Yoshi ( Sachertorte), unless it is a delayed effect. I was writing a response to MHaye what he thought roxis was skimming about. Not that MHaye had an investigate role, but a quick paranoia check: did roxis post his PM, but is SCUM and responsibe for a kill last Night? So if the PM is truthful, no, because the target dies at Day. Unless roxis left out pedes correction that 'next day' should be 'next night'. That would explain why we got an extra kill over Night One (of course N1 also could have had successful protects). Big point against is that MHaye or sinjin didn't mention any seeds, afaik. Looking up the roles (flash link), a commuter is someone who can hide at night to avoid kills, but not two nights in a row. The flash has a naive (fake protect) doctor, an insane one (either protects or kills - which could explain a dead) and a CPR one (protects if attacked, otherwise kills). pedescribe, can you explain what a paranoid doctor is?

To answer my own question, the flash listed it as jail keeper and in the details adds 'aka paranoid doctor': he both protects and blocks his target at Night (combination of doctor and role blocker).

"This sucks" isn't strong enough wording. We're getting reamed here. I have a question for Natlaw: I'd agree that trophyfying wasn't a power of Sachertorte, but was there ever any reason to suppose that it was? I thought "mad bomber" (a cultist-type role on this board) and "jailer" (trapping people in eggs) were fairly obvious in terms of what they did. I've never played SSBB (and googling it brings up thousands and thousands of results, each of them more confusing than the last.) Does anybody else remember when games were like "Dig Dug" on the Atari, when all you did was control some little guy who went around digging holes to escape from dragons? I mentioned that one on a forum not so long ago and nobody had even heard of it... (BTW I'm gonna try and start following other people's examples here and bolding player names. It's getting irritating trying to read back over my old stuff and not being able to find references to things or people I thought I'd mentioned before.)

Maybe a stupid question, but I noticed that on the dead list it says:
24. Zeriel (Ganondorf, Town Mason/Daykill Vig)
If he is a Daykill Vig, why didn't he kill somebody on Day 1? Maybe I am misunderstanding the role. I seems like he would have killed Mitey or Ed during the day on day 1.

If he is a Daykill Vig, why didn't he kill somebody on Day 1? Maybe I am misunderstanding the role. I seems like he would have killed Mitey or Ed during the day on day 1. He had a 50% failure rate, 100% failure if he was voted to first or second places (too much stress) and would also auto fail if he tried to kill the other masons. Actually no, though I think it connected in mind because jailing someone in an egg (as happened with aubby/ Chucara) as something similar as turning someone in a trophy. That said, if Sachertorte attached a (trophyfying?) bomb Night One to someone, it could be an explanation for the extra kill this Night - but I would think someone would notice a bomb. I haven't played any SSMB, but IIRC it has been said here it was a trophyfy gun not a bomb. I think it has been said before, that the only one who probably can't trophyfy is the malicious PFK himself, since both town and SCUM win condition allow him to be trophyfied to take him out of the game.

I would think that the color would say something along the lines of "finding seeds around the body" or "finding plants growing from the body". It'd be plant-related, you wouldn't find stab wounds.
Anyway, just a heads-up: I'll be MIA today due to a paper I stupidly forgot about. I'll be back tomorrow, hopefully with some idea of who I find scummy after I do a read-through.

And since I'm rereading: One question: What is magic bagging? MHaye had a good explanation Night One: I don't think you know what we mean when we talk about a magic bag (or at least what I mean when I use the term). A magic bag is a hint that you know something or can find something out that will crack the game open and / or answer a question that the Town needs to know, often made close to the end of a Day, and which is never, ever accompanied by a roleclaim. Zeriel claimed his role and stated he wasn't going to reveal all because letting the SCUM know about it (or a limitation of it) might help the SCUM play around it. That isn't a Magic Bag. MiteyMouse dropped a hint that she might be able to solve the problem. That is .Though I would replace the 'never accompanied by a role claim' with 'never accompanied by an explanation of how he'll get the result'. So someone promises to get a result (like MiteyMouse did), but how he will do that is the magic bag (he didn't tell he was a tracker). This also shows why it is usually bad: MMs tracking almost certainly wouldn't have helped finding the SCUM mason. Since he didn't tell at first, no-one could have pointed that out to her at that time and would have had the masons waiting for a dud (ignoring whether they should have waited for other reasons).

wow, that is alot of dead people. I am in shock. So sorry rysto, sinjin, and mhaye that you all died last night. That really sucks. Especially loosing the investigator, that hurts. I use to love that game, right up there with keystone cops, don't know if you ever played that game. Why would he put Hard and Rigid in italics? Do you think it was a hint about something? It might be nothing, just wanted to point it out. I am looking at the deaths and am a little surprised but at the same time, I can not help but think...I said yesterday in my last post of the day, i feel the scum have been egging me and her on to fight and create static for them to hide in...with a post like her's and mine, basically saying to each other, yes there maybe merrit in them but we both are sorry for any lines we may have crossed, so let's put it past us and get on with the game. After all night 1, the only one she was harsh to a bit was me. I can not help but think her or me were going to die last night, cause the static was tappering down and therefore less shields for them to hide behind. For town's sake, cause she is a much better player then me, I am sad that it was her and not me but anyways. That is just my opinion here on the situation. I am definetly going to go back reread the last few night's and days and see if anything pop's out at me.

Since he didn't tell at first, no-one could have pointed that out to her at that time and would have had the masons waiting for a dud (ignoring whether they should have waited for other reasons). I was always under the impression magic bagging is when you have info and hint at it but refuse to say it. For example saying I have a role but i am not telling. Or I have a role and you all will be sorry to go ahead and lynch me, but what that role is, I am not saying. So magic bagging can be followed by a role claim if first you started with acting like a 5 year old, who is saying I gotta secret and I am not telling, such as a role/power. It is when you put the interest of yourself above that of the town. If you as a player is going to half claim by saying you have a role but not want to say it, then all you are doing to me, is creating a plausable denyability situation, that is a loose, losse for the town. And put's your interst's above that of the rest of us.
