Post by Trepa Mayfield on Feb 12, 2009 20:10:15 GMT -5
The day was a lazy Saturday, and no-one was particularly chatty. Sure, you had a few people exploring various possibilities, but the serious talkage wasn't present until late in the afternoon, after everyone had woken up properly. brokentree left, and came back looking, once again, different. The town decided that, clearly, disappearing was a sure sign of SCUM alingment...the only question was, was brokentree or aubby more scummy? The discussion heated up a little, and aubby was the unlucky victor. As misterblocky grabbed a random pipe wrench, the group heard the most melodious music coming from inside the egg. It was a little muffled from the egg, but it was beautiful, and fit perfectly with the feeling of the day. He sang for hours, hoping to fully sedate everyone and Rollout of the mansion and far away. Unfortunately for him, no-one fell fully asleep, and when his voice went hoarse, she was still hemmed in. misterblockey started swinging the pipe wrench. *CRACK* *CRACK* *CRACK* And the egg disintegrated. There stood an adorable puffball, sitting and looking up, desperately mouthing the words for songs he was too hoarse to sing. misterblockey kept swinging, but the pipe wrench kept bouncing off his balloon like features. Finally, the swing connected with his open mouth. People watched in horror as the wrench moved through the back of his throat, making a loud popping noise and a huge rush of air. All that was left of Chucara was a thin paste coating a pipe wrench.
Chucara, playing Jigglypuff (Town Roleblocker), is dead.
Night ends 8:00 PM Saturday, EST.

I object to being the killer in that color. I changed my mind on that after much internal debate. Mostly because of how needed I felt that role is in the set up that I can see.

I am very suspicious of the fact that Nanook has a 5 post limit, yet only chose to use 1 of those posts is day 3. It makes me wonder why he didn't use the other 4. Unless of course they were being used on the Scum board. I dont see any other reason that he wouldn't have 5 posts on Day 3.
The end votes yesterday placed Shaggy and I both at 19 votes. To me this gives me 3 options. Use the hammer on Shaggy (who I apparently don't find as suspicious as the rest of you), attempt to use it on myself (not sure if that is possible) or go with my gut, or use it on whomever I find the most suspicious of being PFK or Scum at the end of toNight.
On another note, I noticed that I can't quote posts from Day 3.

Guess I had better figure out who's in need of a hammer to the face. All I can say is be careful with that thing. The last thing we need is another town kill. Also, I seem to remember a certain ghostwhoisapaul offering to buy everyone drinks. You thought you were going to die, but a promise is a promise, so I will take a gin and tonic on your dime if you please.

Unless of course they were being used on the Scum board. I dont see any other reason that he wouldn't have 5 posts on Day 3. I have chosen to play conservatively with my posts. To my mind, it is better to have less, larger posts later in the Day, then to make posts earlier and risk getting caught up in a discussion and dying, or having to abruptly stop posting altogether. You'll notice that what posts I am making are roughly the size of 5-10 posts for anyone else.

That still doesn't explain both keeping the post restriction a secret, and waiting so incredibly late for even your first post. I would argue that it does though, at least per the waiting part. The longer I wait for my first post, the more posts I have left to respond to anyone that wants to discuss something I bring up. I didn't bring it up Day 1 because we had enough going on with the monk kerfluffle that I felt it would either get lost in the noise or would act as a distraction. I didn't bring it up Day 2 mostly because with Ed doing what he did, I was somewhat driven out of the thread. You realize he had like 8 pages worth of posts out of 17 before they got deleted right? Me claiming a post restriction there would just be lost in the shuffle.

see if you had claimed the pr day one it wouldn't have caused too much of a stir, and it would explain your behavior to date.
I just think you're rationing your posts very poorly if your telling the truth.
One post about a quarter of the way through the day at least gives the rest of us an idea of where you stand then, and knowing you have a post restriction we could do something like highlight our posts which are addressed to you so that they're easy for you to find when you make your second post three quarters through the day. Then you still have three posts to work with.
Clearly you're over rationing your posts since you did not use most of them.

Well... since I'm buying....
A gin and tonic for punker, a bourbon no ice for TDPat, and a double Tequila and lime for Peeker.
I'm gonna have a tall glass of the cheapest bourbon money can buy. Work sucked balls today and is only gonna get worse. After getting out at 6:45 PM I now have to get up and be back at work at 5 AM. Fun fun fun... Hopefully I'll have Sunday and Monday off though.
Anyway, can I buy a round for anyone else? I did say drinks are on me... and I do hate to drown my misery alone.

Couple of questions/comments. I know that it is almost always bad strategy to tell a town power role what to do. Having said that we have this loose cannon rolling around, paul. It made sense, to me, to eliminate him from the gene pool (nothing personal). But now that I think about it and since he is still with us could we not use him as a hired gun type. The reason I bring this up is because of Evil Dead. In that case BlAM and I were playing head to head. Neither of us had a vested interest in either side's victory. We both tried to fish for town support. I think that both of us knew that we had a short shelf life. But it didn't matter as long as we out pointed the other. If we believe Paul's claim and alignment would it be advisable to come to a general concensus of a target or pool of targets?
Couple of downsides. First, it is his role and he needs to do what he feels most appropriate. Second, night is typically a non well attended event. Third, with approximately 3.9 scum remaining (using the old square root generality) is it too easy for manipulation at this point (see above)?
Upsides. If he is town aligned at least it's somewhat confirmable or manipulable (not sure if that is even a word) if not town aligned. Second, since there are still more town than scum (or we wouldn't be playing - and seriously who would even fashion a game with double digit scum in a field of less than thirty) town suggestions should still be in the plurality. Third, it gives us some impetus to pick up the discussion a wee bit.
Waits for the vegetables to be tossed from the audience.

I didn't bring it up Day 1 because we had enough going on with the monk kerfluffle that I felt it would either get lost in the noise or would act as a distraction. Really. Your first post of the Day occurred before the masons came out and about 47 hours before Dusk. You voted Roxis, Parzival, and peeker in that order, and other than laying out your cases against them (peeker was a throwaway vote), you mentioned a bit about the PFK. So you had plenty of opportunity to mention the post restriction in this post, especially since you made no commentary on the game as a whole other than the definition of a PFK. So what stopped you from mentioning it then?

So what stopped you from mentioning it then? Because of this, right here. Back and forth, questions being asked, respones expected. If I mention it early on Day 1, when there's no really anything going on, I suddenly become the center of attention. Hard to respond to being the center of attention when you're limited in posting. Do you really believe if I had said something early Day 1 people would have just been like "Oh ok, I'll try and work with that"? I don't, not for a second. People will jump on ANYTHING Day 1, just so they have something to work with. Just ask Molefan the Arcade.

See you still could have mentioned it night one because your pr doesn't seem to extend to nights, and then we'd have known.
And actually I, at least, would have said something along the lines of okay, and suggested the kind of posting schedule that I've been suggesting to you recently, because it makes sense and it allows you to be active and contributing all Day without going over your pr. I would not, however, have expected an answer until very late in the Day as per my suggested posting schedule and would have noted that in my response.
A post restriction is a responsible thing to claim day one, because the longer you wait the more it looks like a lie.
