Here's my thought. The game has been going for hours and Idle hasn't claimed yet. Q. Which role prevents you from claiming anything? A. The Jester Hm, yeah, I'd kinda agree with that warped logic. Idle, are you a Jester? ;D

Question..... Not so familiar with the jester... is it a win stealing 3rd party? The Jester wins when he or she is lynched.

I know that... my question is if the jester wins does it mean that town can't win? Usually if a jester succeeds, the game continues and the town/scum/other third-parties continue to play for a secondary win. 'Cause no mod wants their game to really end on Day One.

So why is lynching the jester such a bad thing? Because we don't want them to win, and we don't want to waste a lynch on a 3rd party

But usually day 1 results in a town lynch based on some spurious logic.... wouldn't a 3rd party lynch ultimately be better for town? It narrows the scum hiding pool without lowering our numbers.

For example, the scum would be more eager to lynch a jester, since it would be a suspicion-free target that's not one of theirs.

True, but if Town goes on a lynch-the-Jester party, then we won't be able to tell the difference.

Idle do you have a restriction to post in the style of Santo Rugger or have you always had such a colourful turn of phrase? ;D I wish. That'd be fun. Wait...you're in this game? That puts things in a different light. I Don't Vote Idle ThoughtsBecause, based on our unusual conversation Night 0, I suspect he is the Jester...again. I'm not a/the Jester. Dunno if there is one in the game, but if there is, I'm not it. Course, maybe that'd just be what the Jester wanted you to believe, huh? Guys, we have fancy new vote/unvote tags. Simply replace the () in the following with []. (Vote) idle thoughts (/vote) Vote: idle thoughts (Unvote) idle thoughts (/unvote) Unvote: idle thoughts The spaces on either side of the player's name are necessary. Now let's hope I've done this correctly so I don't look like an ass.
You're welcome. I made a topic about this, though...? When I made the changes, heh. Hm, yeah, I'd kinda agree with that warped logic. Idle, are you a Jester? ;D Nope. I'm a role I've never been before, although unlike two (or three--I can't remember--one of those) times before, I'm not going to roleclaim on Day One this time. Well, yet anyway. All of this Jester talk is pointless, at least in regards to me. I'm really not a Jester, guys. Not to say there might not be one in the game, but if there is, it's not me.

I was eager to lynch the jester? I don't see how... all I did was ask a question for clarification on why everyone seemed so against a jester lynch. I thought the jester might have been a win stealing role.... but that seems way too unbalanced to have been right... so I figured I would ask.
As for my joke. I've wanted to pull the joke, but was scared to before.. and now I know I had every reason to be. I truly am not scum... and seeing as it is Day1, well.... I can't really do much more than that to defend myself.

Paul didn't seem "eager" to lynch Idle IMO. He asked why and what reason we would have for lynching/not-lynching a potential Jester. He didn't even vote... As for the joke in the Nigth - well, I thought it was fun. I laughed out loud - didn't see it as a scum-tell. But others seem to do... a null tell to me.

First observations from the far side of the North Sea.
I find it amusing that KidV´s name is still in purple, that being the colour associated with Sarah´s user group.
Idle obviously has to come up with a 4*5 grid of player names and is waiting to shout BINGO.
Further thought will have to wait and see if I can reread before the Day ends.

Should we have a side game of "Guess Idle's role" ? It has to be pizza delivery man. To have to give away pizzas without being allowed to eat them would definitely cause Idle to call our mods cocksuckers.

Agreed, though I don't think lynching a jester if we have one is the best way to go it didn't seem he was eager to lynch Idle either. --------- It's all very well being given a list of possible roles but as many of them seem to have been pulled from whole cloth out of our mods' arses I'm not sure how much help that list's going to be. I think we can make educated guesses on a few of them but I don't have a clue about the majority.

I've always sucked at day ones.. Does anyone have an idea on a worthwhile strategy to provoke slips or get scum talking?
Only thing I can think of are: - Mass claim (comes with obvious drawback of scum knowing exactly who to target) - Lynch the lurker (little drawback, but little gain as well)
Just trying to get the party started.
