Suppose we had a Dopefest-like get together and (obviously) played many real-life Mafia games at it? Man, would that rock.
But I know that not every person who is dedicated on the dope and here to playing it would be able to come.
That being said, where would you nominate it to be held? Where do you think would be the place to hold it where it would get the MOST people possible? New York? St Louis? Or maybe somewhere over in England if we have more people (who play this regularly in our "Mafia clique") there?
Where would/should it be held so we could get the most of our constantly growing lot to come? And if it was held in the place of your suggestion, would you come?
I'd say New York would be nice. Most places offer airfare, busfare, or trainfare to New York pretty cheap. And even though I live in Arizona, I'd attend our MafiaFest in New York. Dunno if I would if it were in, say, Boise, Idaho (even though that's closer) but New York I could do. Again, popular place = lower tickets to go.
What you say?

If you hold it in Arizona, I would so try to go. I want to visit Arizona and since my sister who had been considering moving there has scrapped that plan, this would be the perfect excuse.
Chicago would be another good choice.

I've only ever played Mafia live, so I wouldn't necessarily go for the experience of live Mafia... however, a massive Dopefest with people from all over would be amazing. I think Chicago would be an appropriate place. Perhaps would get TubaDiva to show us around the Reader offices? Break into Cecil's office?

I would definitely attend such a gathering. I have developed very clear mental pictures of a lot of the folks who play here and would be fascinated to know how those pictures match their real-life appearance and demeanor.

I would attend. New York or Arizona would be cool (Arizona is close and I could bring my fiance and she could see her family, and New York is...New York.) Chicago would work too.

Well, since I'm currently more or less broke, I'd like to have it in Orlando so it'd just be a mere 3.5 hour drive from where I live now, and I can crash with the folks at night. Otherwise it'd be a couple more years before I can afford to fly.

I'd go to one in Arizona, for sure. I could probably be convinced to go to one in a major city, but would be much more likely to go to one west of the Mississippi. I'd need at least 4-6 months lead time.
I agree with story concerning having a clear mental image of the lot of you. Some physical, some personality traits, but they're most certainly there.

<snip> I can't possibly be the only person curious to know what sort of person I seem like I would be in real life. Since you asked... I picture you as being 35-40, with a quiet, thoughtful demeanor. Since the Asylum game, I've associated the avatar face you had with you, but I also have a bit of my dad mixed in with it (you guys have the same first name). Your oh-so-logical reasoning was welcome and comforting in M2, not so much in Asylum!

I actually tend to picture everyone as whatever their icon is usually. And either you're the guy in the hello kitty darth outfit or the slacker reading waldon, yeah, yeah I know he's whoever.... I prefer hello kitty roosh. And cow that's one angry puppy. Every time you post I hear you stamping your little furry puppy foot. Or is it a hoof?

Yeah. Dotchan to me, you were that lil' anime picture. Cow you were a mix between the dog or i'd just imagine your s/n. Storyteller was always this mysterious guy that actually told stories. HockeyMonkey was a lesbian therapist (blond in my mind) and I think Canadian cuz she liked Hockey. That or she was a monkey. But once she died, totally a lesbian. The crazy one for me right now is Hal. He looks insanely wierd to me now that I think of him. one of my fav's: BlasterMaster and his icon. They fitted him perfectly last game.

Yeah. Dotchan to me, you were that lil' anime picture. Well, I guess it's appropriate, since it is sort of a self-portrait. (For those of you wondering, my older icon was from this picture. I might get around to making a 100X100 icon of this "self-portrait", but don't count on it. *EDIT* And because I'm an insufferable showoff, this is the closest thing you guys get of a self-portrait.)

So what do you do, exactly, dotchan? I just spent about twenty minutes looking your site over. Did you draw just about everything on that site? Do you make all those comics? You seem really good and talented. I mean, enough to where you could become an actual comic artist and sell books...if you don't already.
For all we know, though, you're already a famous anime writer/comic drawer. The things on your site look like the work of a professional artist.

So what do you do, exactly, dotchan? Well, I used to make pills (technical operations for a nutritional supplement company), but now I'm unemployed, so I'm going to be looking for a much more humble part-time job to cover the bills while I finish my third degree. Other than the MAX, Gift Art and JACON sections, everything on that site is my work. *blushes* Really? Because I think I still have a long way to go, especially compared to the artists who have gone to art school and done this way longer than I have. (I was more or less self taught, with a few lessons in basic sketching and composition, and now I'm in school actually trying to learn something in the direction of what I want to do with my life.) That means a lot, thanks. I have really, really high expectations for myself, so it's hard to keep myself from thinking that I'm a talentless hack. (I still need a lot of work on getting proportions and perspective right, and I absolutely suck at drawing non-human characters and backgrounds...)

Speaking of Vegas. Hint hint. Wink wink. Nudge nudge. I have a much better chance of being able to go if "the little woman" also goes. And we both love Vegas. And it is usually easy for pretty much anyone from any direction to get discount airfare there. Somewhat centrally located. Oh...and it's Las Vegas.
