The thrower kicks the dirt and tosses the rubber ball gently into the air while starring fiercely at the batter. He position himself on the X and starts his motion with a step forward of his left foot. He reaches his arm back until it is parallel to the ground and his elbow locks in place. Striding forward with his right leg, he brings his arm forward in whirlwind motion lifting it over his head and back around again. He flicks his wrist and sends the ball hurling towards the hitting circle.
Crack!
The batsman eyes widen and he slams the ball squarely off the ground, bouncing it enthusiastically into right field. He strides towards first as the blocker positions himself . The runner starts to the right and spins quickly back to the left. The blocker isn’t fooled though and knocks him to the ground. Undeterred he gets right back up and this time sprints full speed to his right past the startled blocker. He touched the edge of the base and heads back to the scoring line as the defenders finally track down the ball. He reaches the 2 blockers and twists…
CRACK!
A series of deafening sounds explode out of the sky. The bombs go off like fire works, close enough that you can see the flames and smoke rise in the sky. If you listen closely you can hear faint screams of terror whispering in the wind. Nobody listens closely.
...into them in an attempt to split them up. It isn’t pretty, but he is able to lower his head and power his way to the safety line. He runs full tilt towards the finish as the ball comes hurling in. Safe!
Welcome to Mafia: The Undying War, a homemade concoction that is exactly like every Mafia you have ever played, except when it isn't.
A couple bits of house keeping first.
1) I don't want to talk too much about the nature this game, but I will say it will require a relatively large amount of commitment from its players. It is just not a game that will work well if participants only have time to throw out a random vote and make a couple quick posts a Day. Thus, I'm going to request if you are actively involved in other games that you don't participate in this one . Now, if you have game finishing up, one that starts towards the end of this one, or you have a freakishly large amount of times on your hand for multiple games, that is okay. I'm not going to reject players, but I wish that if you aren't sure you can fully commit to the game, then I prefer you don't try.
2) On the same token this is going to be a rough game for people who have never played before. Again, I'm not going to prevent anyone from playing, and in fact new blood might help, but I could certainly see this being overwhelming for someone of little experience.
3) That said, just because you can't directly play doesn't mean you can't participate. This game should be fun to watch both spoiled and unspoiled. I highly encourage you to read and comment along if you aren't playing. In fact since the game is less than 100% done (and I don't mean it is at 99.4%) I welcome more help in putting this together. PM me if you wish to contribute.
This game will start after the current game ends. Not sure on size yet, we will see how many people sign-up and take it from there.
