Yeah, plus after college I lost touch with all of my friends that played, and my wife wasn't really in to it so I got tired of playing against myself lol.

So...are you old enough to remember Unglued, Meeko? (I started playing with the Revised edition in 1994). --FCOD I had no idea you played, FCoD. How many of us does that make? I used to play a lot in High School. I have a box of cards in my closet, still sorted into decks. I have another box with random unsorted cards that weren't good enough. I must have like 10-15 decks still made though. XBox Live Arcade recently released a Magic the Gathering game. They give you like eight decks to choose from, and you play through a campaign of computer controlled decks. You can play solo or co-op with a friend, or you can challenge other players over XBox Live. I purchased that a few weeks back it's a lot of fun.

I used to play Magic like a fiend. Then, my really good black/red deck went missing when I moved, and that sucked. I drove everyone crazy by stacking my deck with will-o-the-wisps and then fireballing when I got enough land out.

Blowing stuff up is always fun. ;D I think my favourite ever deck is based around Sneak Attack dropping some big creatures into play to smash face. I've had the deck together for years, with the occasional tweak as a new creature worthy of inclusion comes out.

I used to have the most awesome, incredibly frustrating counterspell deck. I don't remember what the names of the cards were, but I could basically counter every single thing my opponent played while I was able to play some 1/1 creatures (that I could sacrifice to counter a spell, btw) to slowly kill him/her. I actually lost a friend over that deck.
One time, I let one of my other friends use it to play against me and I actually wanted to punch him in the face. There's nothing more annoying than a deck that can counter everything you play starting on your first turn. After that, I realized it was way too powerful so I threw it into the fires of Mount Doom.

I get the feeling there's a bunch of casual types in here. Not me. I'm a tournament guy. Currently Vintage mostly, with a small smattering of draft and sealed limited. I used to be into Standard, but it got boring. I much rather do broken things like take infinite turns, or play a bazillion spells in a single turn with only one land in play or similar things. Being able to run around with a deck that costs more than most people's cars makes for fun epeen moments too.

So...are you old enough to remember Unglued, Meeko? (I started playing with the Revised edition in 1994). --FCOD Figured you meant MTG. I wanted to get in earlier. I could have gotten in around Revised. Instead, people told me it was hard game to learn. And, if you took it all at once, it is. So, I held off. I heard that a new Magic set was in the works to introduce new players into the game. So, I Waited for Portal. And then eventually go and buy older sets, and wonder why they want 6 bucks for an Alliances booster. [Mind you, this was 10 years ago.] So yeah, I started at Portal / 5th. Would have to say that Tempest and Urzas Saga are the best sets.
Love the Un sets, It would make my week if they confirm that a third set is being made. .... Then again, if you ask me Future Sight was Un 3.

No real time for Magic currently though, I am still trying to get my schedule acclimated to my new internship. As such, going forward, my posting here will suffer. I think the length of days are such that I can still "play" but not pollute.

Is this a variation on Mornington Crescent? Oh boy. It's on. But. I just lost the game. [No, not crescent, " the game ", you are welcome.] As to Subway themed games, I point you to Atlanta's abysmal system. If you start a turn after Five Points, you can pretty much gaurantee a win. www.itsmarta.com/rail-schedules-or-route.aspx

Used to be a qualified judge but I let it lapse because I wasn't using it. Nowadays I'm not completely up with the new cards. Still pretty good with the rules though.

I think I still have a binder with the printed full rules from who knows when. Probably around 1999. I considered getting the judge qualification but never bothered. Like you, I still remember everything but I have no idea what sort of new mechanisms are on the new cards. Yes, I think I'm gonna have to get my cards out of storage and try teaching my wife to play. --FCOD

The first thing I ever got was a Mirage deck, but I never learned how to play. I started with Portal and 5th as well. But was able to go back and get older versions of cards. It helped that I had friends who had a lot of older cards as well. Some had Ice Age, Homelands and 4th Edition, and even older. It was always cool to look at their old Revised and Unlimited cards. They got them from their older brothers and stuff. I got really into Magic during Urza's and Tempest (the late 90s). I also have no time for Magic now either. I still have all my cards, but I haven't gotten anything new in a while, and I don't see myself buying more in the near future. I still hang out with my friends that I used to play with, and they still have their cards, but organizing games and times is hard. I remember the all night parties we used to have with big 3v3 games, and multi-team games. My personal favorite was one where you could only target the player to your left, unless it was counters. Those were great. Ah memories...

I can't even play the small card-battle portions of console games like Final Fantasy and such. They never make sense to me. Fable 2 had some decent small games-within-the-game though.

And Meeko -- Damn you! It hasn't even been a month since I lost The Game last.

Actually, you could hit the North-East line. That might still give you the win. Yes, I will shut up now. Kensington is kind of iffy. You have to allow for the so-called "Arts Center Escalator Jump" for it to work. (Obviously, Kensington in London would not be valid here.)

Oh, and Ed, I play Spades. I love that game. Back in the late 90s I used to play on Yahoo games all the time. It's been ages since I have played though, since I have trouble finding people who know how to play, and playing spades with a bunch of people who don't know how isn't actually much fun. So these days I play hearts more often.

We may have played each other Plus, didn't they have a rating system so you could see an indicator of how good your opponents were?
