Ok seriously guys. It seems that paul and moody are almost fighting over who wants to be lynched the most?
Is it really just me, or does that strike anyone else as something scum wouldn't do*?
*yes, I know.. scum don't always do what scum would do
I'll change my vote to the one who is most scummy, and still has a change of being leader, as I believe both paul and moody.
unvote all vote pedescribe

Where's the dusk post? Hasn't the day ended by now? Where the hell are the mods? WHAT'S GOING ON? ?? --FCOD You know they'll come in moaning about people who never read their posts, don't you? Day was extended by 48 hours because of Easter. WHich was (for me) A Good Thing. I made a promise to Yattara while I was in Holland, and it's involved several hours work so far, with more to come. Time to reread. It's worth noting that i like to read game threads twice (at least) before voting, and currently I need to reread Day 2 completely. But (since the working day is devoted to trying to find jobs) I can't start for 5 hours or so.

I still feel like paul and total are scumbuddies, for the reasons I stated earlier. I haven't seen anything since then to change my mind, or to point me in anyone else's direction. hawkeye and nanook seem to be competing for "Most Severe Lurker".

But I just saw a weird thing. Chucara unvotes "all"... two times. And I know I can't vote toDay - so I'd like to ask Chucara: Did you steal my vote??? Heh, no. I'm just being lazy. "all" is easier to type. I don't really see how I could steal your vote AFTER you've been told you've lost your vote. If it makes anyone happier, I can type in the name of my previous vote. Oh, and NAF: I don't have any case other than Total. I'm mostly voting for him because I believe both Paul and Moody. I'd be much happer with a nanook or hawkeye vote, but that just doesn't seem to be in the cards. If it comes close to a draw, I'll move my vote to paul, as I'd rather kill someone who gives us information about voters rather than someone where the majority of the votes are penalty votes.

OK back from my days travels and have caught up on what hasn't gone on. We have both claimed and it's up to the others to decide which if either of us are lying. I only have a very very thin case for voting the way I did though it was that that got me where I am now. Again I don't think I'm going to be able to build strong enough case on FCOD to convince enough guys to change their vote so I am just going to leave it completely in the lap of the gods

Post by Nanook on Apr 15, 2009 16:17:40 GMT -5
Let me start off by saying sorry for not participating more. I'm working for a tax firm right now and, as you can imagine if you're from the US, it's pretty insane at the moment. Next week however I'll be doing a project for a different firm, and I will have a lot more time to post. The whole Moody thing really makes things difficult. I think it almost would have been better for Town as a whole if he had been modkilled, especially if is telling the truth about his role. At least in that situation we could have said that it sucked and moved on. As is, it's a major issue and cannot be overlooked when it comes to voting. It gives scum an easy place to hide if someone else that's Town gets lynched, since they can hide behind the penalty votes, saying something like "I didn't believe Moody was scum, so I didn't want him to die to penalty votes!" But it is what it is, so you do what you gotta do. When I say Paul's post, my first though was PIS slip like a lot of others. But not a scum slip, more likely a third party killer of some type or other, such as SK. I would say a Vig is possible too, but he has since claimed Vanilla so that's off the table. But later posts make me change my mind on that. I know the martyr act is bugging people, and I can't deny it bugs me a little too, but it's actually a solid attitude for a vanilla town to take. There's not much you can do as vanilla to counteract a slip like that, and being lynched will give data for later Days. I won't be voting for him at this point. Dang, we lost the immunizer? That's not good...not good at all. And Idle was telling the truth, it appears...and it looks like the Temple Members are win-alone masons given the evidence we have so far. This post bugs me a lot. If you look at Smash Brothers, a lot of the scum there were posting similar things early on. It's basically gloating while pretending to be sad as town. I yelled at the other scum in that game for doing it, and people have been caught as scum doing it in past games. I do have to agree with him regarding the Temple members though. The lack of a Town notation is telling to me. The fluff? It is overwhelming. The can't vote thing could go multiple ways. I think we'll have a better idea what's going on with it Tomorrow. Of course, now that I've said that, watch there's nothing similar tomorrow. So Ulla is Total Lost? Can we cut the fluff a LITTLE? Please? I know it's a slow day, but this type of stuff doesn't help. Vote: Nanook I'm still suspicious of his attempts to stifle discussion, and his decrees of what counts or doesn't count as a useful topic. My bleaching. This is of course, not even CLOSE to what I was arguing. I've said over and over that discussion is good. I never once said the topic you brought up wasn't useful. What I said, and I will continue to stand by, is that the CONTENT of your idea was not good, and was scummy. There was a time when everytime someone brought up a new idea, people would jump all over that person and they would be lynched. There is no denying this, and I'm not going to. But now it seems to be swinging the other way, or you're trying to get it to swing that way. Sort of a "I posted an idea, don't you dare try and read into it or use it for anything other than what I said! Obviously I'm not scum, I posted an idea! Everyone knows ideas are pro-town!" And as a general concept, it is true that ideas are pro-town. But that's only in general. Each idea has to be examined on it's own merits, and you then have to decide whether or not it's pro-town or pro-scum. The content, and I emphasize conent again, of your idea was more pro-scum than pro-town. And that's why I voted for you. Now of course, I have another reason to vote for you, and that's the utter and completely ridiculous twisting of my argument you are doing. Vote: pedescribe On a different note, Captain Pinkies aka seattleguy, I note that you haven't really said...well anything really. I know, the guy with not many posts shouldn't be saying anything, but while I may not have many posts in number, they have actual substance to them. Your posts? They're all fluff or throwaway comments. Makes me suspicious. Not as much as pede at the moment, but something I'm going to keep an eye on.

Paul (6*) – FCOD, BillMc, bufftabby, KidV, Almost Human, Pede Scribe MoodyMitchy (6) - Penalty Vote Pede (4) - Mitey Mouse, Paul, Chucara, Nanook FCoD (3) - MoodyMitchy, Shaggy, Cap'n Pinkie
*Note, Paul was up to 7 votes at one point. So tie breaks in favor of him being lynched, if he drops down to 5 and gets voted again the tie will favor Moody. I noticed that this sort of thing isn't 100% clear in the rules.

I'm collecting my thoughts after reading, but I want to weigh in on the vote leaders.
Since both Paul and Moody have claimed the same role, but (bizarrely) neither are voting for the other; this tends to cast doubt on the claims. As has been pointed out, a vanilla Townsperson knows their alignment; in a faceoff between them and another player claiming vanilla Town for the honour of dancing the hemp fandango, the true Townsperson votes for themselves; they don't give up.
There is a possibility that one of the claimants is claiming vanilla rather than admit to being a power role. This is shortsighted, because then that player knows they are throwing away a role that could do something for the Town in exchange for a Townie vote (which they also provide). The later they leave a true claim, the greater the risk of enough Townspeople disbelieving them and executing them anyway.
If asked which of Paul or Moody seem scummier, I'd have to say Paul. Moody strikes me as genuinely inexperienced and perhaps not realising the best course of action. He's also in this position because of a huge number of penalty votes. (Aside; I like the idea of penalty votes, but six may have been too many. If I ever mod, I'm considering a smaller number of perpetual votes - votes that remain with the player as long as they are in the game.)
Consequently, of the choice remains between Paul and Moody, I'll vote for Paul. However, I want to read again, and make notes, before voting. We still have some 26½ hours.

If you have a re read you will see that I did say that I was thinking of going for the save my own ass option... a couple of posts later Paul voted for me. As a change of vote by me to him would not have made any real difference (and also not thinking he is scum) I left mine where it was. Later on for whatever reason, Paul changed his vote again and took it away from me. Why he did this I have no idea. So one of us has already gone to vote against the other but for some reason they changed their mind. I am inexperienced but I did make the mistake so will accept my fate if it comes to it. I'm now trying to re read to see why Pede seems to be getting peoples vote. Maybe I'm missing something but hopefully that'll come as I play more.
