August 8, 8:30AM David Bremer, for the Associated Press NEW YORK, NY (AP) – The six-day standoff at Ryker's Island ended with more questions than answers this morning, when three survivors of the event arrived on the mainland battered and exhausted. All three described themselves as members of Tony Stark's support staff. National Guard investigators found Ryker's Island otherwise "deserted of organic life." One of the survivors, Vietnam veteran Frank Castle, said this afternoon that... September 15, 6:25PM Sally Floyd, for the Washington Post WASHINGTON, DC – The explosive testimony of Ryker's Island survivor Frank Castle highlighted the final day of the Senate Oversight Committee's review of last month's events at the legendary prison. Castle confirmed previous reports that the events at Ryker's were a direct result of the actions of Anthony Stark, the so-called "Iron Man," who evidently used the information he gained in his capacity of leader of the Superhuman Registration Act to imprison and attempt to kill several dozen... September 22, 8:30AM David Bremer, for the Associated Press WASHINGTON, DC (AP) – The Senate Oversight Committee released its final report on the Ryker's Island situation this morning. The report concludes that "Anthony Stark, in an attempt to consolidate his own influence in the United States, utilized the requirements of the SHRA as a way to catalogue and eliminate potential threats to his ascent." Congratulations to: Hal Briston (Captain America) - Godfather and Scum Doctor nphase (Songbird) - Scum Roleblocker redskeezix (The Punisher) - Scum Strongman BillMc (Cable) - Scum Watcher/Investigator Sadly, this means a loss for all remaining players, including Natlaw (The Green Goblin - Serial Killer), mhaye (Lady Deathstrike), Precambrian Mollusc (Venom), and tomscud (Iron Man). I hope everyone had a good time. I'm sorry that the design evidently made for a less active game; if anyone has any suggestions how that might be improved for next time, please let me know. i personally loved the voting mechanism. the problem is that for whatever reason doing anything or saying anything is perceived to be scummy or at best anti town. and unfortunately when you have someone like me espousing anything it will be immediately met with disdain. shoot i got grief for hammering on Day 1, after eighteen rl days. i mean if someone like mhaye had done the same thing it would have been like thank goodness this one is in the book.
but good game all.
and thanks, story. don't get all big headed but i like your games the best. talk about damning with faint praise.

Congratulations! I guess I kinda threw the game to you by counter claiming Sister Coyote. Just wanted some action and thought being at lynch or lose would keep me alive. I had a delayed protect and a kill left (my only one). If I had picked town we might have made it, but I had to give up my toys I only worried about an normal investigator, if I had known there were two anti-alignment chance roles out there I probably wouldn't have went Serial Killer. That plus peeker dominating three Days hurt town and PCM actually being town as well too much. And I think the breadcrumb aren't that useful when they're visible from space, although I completely missed it as I did want to give the communicator to an investigator. I though special ed case against nphase wasn't that good so I gave it to her. Still I had fun - I doubt anyone will trust claims from me in the future ;D.

From my perspective, this game went pretty similarly to your last one (Skrull Planet)...at first, anyway. But this time, there was no Apocalypse to help the town, no FCoD to get people organized, and no Toad to back the scum into a corner. So the scum won, in a rather steamroller-y manner. Also: signups for the next game are in meta-posting!

...I only worried about an normal investigator, if I had known there were two anti-alignment chance roles out there I probably wouldn't have went Serial Killer. Yeah, that puzzled me a bit too, Story. Why were there so many anti-recruitment roles, but so few actual recruitment possibilities?

Fudge, or words to that effect. I enjoyed the game, even if it was quiet. I needed a low-paced game while being stuck on this "course." I don't think the hammer worked very well, until it was paired with a deadline. The pressure added by a deadline does help me concentrate, and I think it helps us as a group. Having just read the spoiler thread, I'm wondering if the ARRs had done as suggested and all piled onto someone on Day 1 whether anyone would have brought up the Day 4 lynch in Ragnarok? If memory serves, Peeker, Polluxo and I were all on the team that piled on Inner Stickler, getting the Vig lynched and clearing the way for killing the Doc that Night, and Total Lost was a mod (NAF was also One Of Us, but he isn't playing). The "Join or die" recruitment mechanism is the one I think the fairest way of implementing it. It came with a high cost, but the recruitment is into a solidly established group, so it's probably a necessary cost. Thanks for the game, Storyteller. I look forward to Watchmen, when it finally runs.

Woohoo! Thanks a ton for running the game, Story. Good thing it was me who went to make the kill that lead to my death rather than someone else on the team. Between moving and the ensuing internet connectivity issues, I'd have been completely useless in the endgame.
Well played, all!

I thoroughly enjoyed the game, though I am sorry about my lack of mid-game participation. Some things can't be hoped, however.
Well done scum.

I'm back. Actually that's not true. I have a confession to make; I never left. My flight was canceled late Wednesday night. I thought at that point if I turned up to make a substantive contribution it might look flaky, and if I turned up just to hammer (or to strategise in the scum thread), would be too cheesy. I had a feeling my teammates could bring it home without me, and I was right. Nice job, guys. Natlaw, I don't get you at all, but plays like yours are what makes this game fun, so kudos. This was a strange game in some ways. I thought all of us were quite blatant about being Scum at times (Skeez did the best, but also talked the least!), yet Bill, Hal and Skeez collected maybe three or four votes among them all game, and we just killed (in one case, tried to recruit) everyone who questioned me. I don't think any of us ever voted any of the others, not even once. So much for bussing, eh? Personally this was a very difficult game for me. I had very little time, knew going in that time might be an issue, and when I drew a scum role, went "oh no". I'm not proud of the way I played this time around, but a win's a win, and I'm happy about that. Thanks to Hal, Bill, and Skeez for being a pleasure to work with and putting up with me; and thanks to Storyteller for a really well-thought-out game that I only wish I could have put more into.

That last Day was a slow-motion trainwreck for me. After the last Day, I had all the Scum sussed out except for Red, then turned up dead in the morning and couldn't do a damned thing about it. And when Tom voted for Natlaw, I just wanted to punch my monitor. I was kinda impressed that the final vote ended up going for PCM, seeing as the Scum could have just piled on Natlaw at that point and ended it.

You were definitely the biggest threat left in the game by that point in terms of being engaged and focused (and actually town).

Oddly, I take that as a compliment.
I'm kinda disgusted that I had voted for one Scum and called another out for an off-sounding comment and none of it ever got traction.

When I got that recruitment offer, I was concerned that refusing might mean death. I knew it had to be either that or the fact that the Scum could continue trying until successful.
I was hoping my self-protect might mean something.
I should have posted into the Night thread letting everyone know an attempt to recruit me was made. Though, I think that might have caused fear in the Town as I died. They wouldn't have known there was no more recruitment.
I was all prepared to push my attack on nphase.
In hindsight, of course, I should have accepted the offer. But refusing it was the most pro-Town thing I could do, even if it meant my death. Had I lived, I could have supplied the Scum with night protections while denying them to the Town. The limitation on my power would have been minimal, and I'd have had an easy claim along with an easy reason for not protecting every NIght...

Silly the rest of us for not seeing that for what it was at the time. It was SO obvious, once looked at with Bill's scan result in hand.

I should have outed you before I was lynched. Silly me for listening to your appeal that you might stay town if I took your identity to my grave. The problem was that my role PM didn't say anything about being able to choose, so I didn't know if you were telling the truth or just scum setting me up for a lynch by sowing doubt about my alignment. And I didn't know that staying town would mean losing my toys - with two protects, two role block and a kill I figured I was better hidden as a town power role who could then target on his own. I didn't expect you to get lynched and I guess I could have opposed MHaye more. I completely missed your breadcrumb by the way or Hawkeye's for that matter even though in hindsight it plain as day. I even went looking for an investigator to give the communicator to, but I just found his remark scummy. @ special ed, revealing you might be recruited probably would have been better (was it really allowed?), it would have put the recruitment spectre to rest a bit. Although if I read the spoilers correctly, it would have failed anyway since Iron Man was still alive?

@ special ed, revealing you might be recruited probably would have been better (was it really allowed?), it would have put the recruitment spectre to rest a bit. Although if I read the spoilers correctly, it would have failed anyway since Iron Man was still alive? I thought the iron man prevents recruitment was removed. I don't think it would have put the recruitment fear to rest, because we wouldn't have known it was a one-shot deal. I think it might have only fanned the flames of panic.

Yeah, that puzzled me a bit too, Story. Why were there so many anti-recruitment roles, but so few actual recruitment possibilities? Mine wasn't really an anti-recruitment role, but an anti-change-of-alignment role. I couldn't have told you how someone's alignment changed, or if it was voluntary or not, or anything like that.
