The End Is Nigh!
In the darkest forest of Christendom, a deep fog has enveloped all. Neither sun nor home nor face can be discerned. All those who fear the Lord have fled, peasants and noble alike, for the vanguard of Hell has advanced unto the realm.
You, one of the Great Powers of Light, have come to stop this Apocalypse. Your strength is not enough to prevail alone, yet you know there is not unanimity among your peers. For some have already fallen to the Enemy and perhaps some have sworn fealty to Other Powers.
But your oath to serve, until Death and Beyond, shall not be forsaken. So pray you.

Public Rules
This is an almost completely closed rules set.
This game is multi-level. Dead players should still participate in order for their team to win. We need exactly 26 players. If we do not have 26 players when it is time to start, another game and ruleset will be used instead.
Some powers may be hidden from the players who have them. Some powers may be affected by game states or other powers. There may be vote or lynch shenanigans. Public reveals by the moderator of a living player may be not be reliable.
You will not change teams without your consent. Victory conditions may not be entirely known.
You may not communicate with any player outside the official game forums.
Players may vote for as many or as few players as they wish. They may also vote for No Lynch. Whichever player has the most active votes (that is, votes that have not been unvoted) at the end of a Day will be lynched, unless No Lynch has the most votes. There are several secret mechanisms to break ties.
Players may vote for Hammer to end the Day early, or Filibuster to extend it. If either Hammer or Filibuster has votes from at least half of all living players (checked each day at 12n PT), then the Day will either end, or be extended for one day. Each Day can be extended only once.
A player that does not have an active vote on a player or No Lynch at the end of the Day will receive one penalty. A player that edits a post, or posts a link to outside this game, or posts an image, or posts substantially not in English will receive a penalty for each post in violation. A player that reaches four penalties will be killed, but will still be in the game. Each Night, living players may vote to forgive--whichever player receives the most votes will be forgiven one penalty.
Days will last for three weekdays and Night will last for one weekday. They will always end at 12n PT on a weekday. The game will start with a Day One that will last for five weekdays.
Possible Role Types: Vanilla - no special powers Killer - can kill players Investigator - can discover information about players, including all investigators, trackers and watchers Manipulator - can change how other powers work, including protectors, blockers and redirectors Mechanic - can affect game mechanics, including recruiters and vote count powers Players may have more than one role type.

Yay, a player! I'm very excited to run this game. I've been working on it (off and on) for years. Several of the game mechanics are unique (including needing to play after being "killed", plus several more undisclosed things), as far as I know. And the roles vary from slight twists on well-known ones, to utterly new ones. I think it's balanced, but it's definitely a run-once-only game. It'll either be the most epic game I've ever run, or it'll be a total failure.

Can we please be allowed to edit posts as long as no one have responded? (To allow fixing of vote tags)

Can we please be allowed to edit posts as long as no one have responded? (To allow fixing of vote tags) No. The no-edit policy is to prevent players from communicating to some players, but not all. And while an edit could be benign, by changing only formatting, there's no way for the moderator or other players to know for certain what was changed. It's easy to enforce a blanket ban on all edits. You do remind me that I wanted to put in a forgiveness policy. I'll add it to the public rules.

I'm curious what communication it is you're trying to prevent, and how effective it is. You've forbidden offboard contact regarding the game, but have no way to enforce that or even know if it's happening short of a player confessing... why not just do what I've done and forbid editing beyond fixing typos and formatting and such? A player that wants to clandestinely contact another player is going to do it and you can't stop them - a rule breaker is a rule breaker. It seems like all a "no editing" rule accomplishes is inconvenience every player, leading to lots of extraneous posts from players embarassed over a missing tag or mispelled word. It can't actually do what it's intended to do, ie prevent improper comm between players. Know what I mean? I think you could allow editing to fix typos and broken tags and such and not affect the game in the slightest. Players that intend to follow the rules will use it as such and no more, and any player that doesn't want to follow the rules will use offboard means to contact other players instead of stealth edits anyway.

Also, I thought penalty votes as a mechanism for dealing with inactive players was shown to be faulty in the last iteration of Conspiracy.
