Ok, so based on how the whole win condition situation went down, in conjunction with the whole mole-gate (for the record I hate adding -gate to the end of words, but if that is what we are calling it...) and the subsequent name claims I think I have been able to emilinate some people from the running for scum...for now. No, I will not be publishing said list, me publishing my lists has caused nothing but trouble in the past and I will be discontinuing the practice. OK, dude, this is either scummy or the biggest tease in the history of Mafia. The thing is, if you have folks that you would like to eliminate from consideration for the nonce, it is of huge value to the rest of us if you tell us both who and more importantly, why. It is possible that we will collectively agree with your analysis and eliminate the same people, which will help us focus our efforts a bit more. It is possible that we will disagree. Either way, what you're doing here is unhelpful. It's a classic magic bag post - "I have lots of ideas, I'm not just posting fluff, I've done all kinds of helpful analysis here in my head, but I won't share it with any of you." It gives you the flavor of trying to be helpful without actually helping, and it moves you right on up the list of folks to look at more closely. More generally, re-read is necessary. Too much has happened to go on gut, and I have no compelling gut feelings about anyone anyway.

We're deep within Bastard Mod Speculation territory now, but is it possible that this board's filters can be fine-tuned to only apply to certain posters? For those not familiar, it is possible to configure these boards to bleep out swear words, and in previous games that functionality was taken to some extremes by automatically replacing certain words (some very common) with Chinese translations. No, the censors are all or nothing.

That post took a lot of time to put together and I will need some more time to put together a case against people and that post was simply the groundwork for my thought process. If after I put together my case you still have questions and even WANT to see said lists, I will post them. But I am done with volunteering them.

Catinasuit points out that Zuma was against nameclaims before then. Actually molefan1987, those posts were about Hoopy and not zuma. I went back to see if there was any "motivation" for his actions either as Town or as Scum. The only thing which caught my eye was that he switched from voting no-name claim to actually claiming in a three posts, all be it spread over a few days. Ahhhh. Thanks for clearing that one up.

But would that be worth it especially these early claimers. They would have to make sure to not hit on a "real" role. That's a risk, a big risk. But I'm taking both the claims at face value for now, and if more name claim I'll judge them as they come out. I'm not talking about the name, I'm talking about the format.

Drainbead, have you been given a posting restriction? If so please spell it out for the rest of us. Considering what her posting restriction seems to be, she might have a tough time spelling it out. But there are a few people who are showing up as question marks to me. They have all posted, but I don't have an opinion on them one way or the other. Some of this may be due to location or other time constraints, so this isn't a "lynch list", or a "lurker list" but a simple request that these people post one or two seriously substantial anylitical posts before the Day ends. (again, I will not be posting the actual list, how many times do I have to tell you . If you THINK I am talking about you, then post a nice juicy post. Othewise ignore this paragraph.) Ooh! Ooh! Me? Let's see here. Hoopy Frood's quick name claim: I think this was just a newbie move. In Firefly in the closed set-up we had the same problem with people and overeager name/role claims. (And I use Firefly as an example because basically everybody playing that was a newbie to the closed set-up idea.) I don't see it as a scummy maneuver, nor do I think there was any "scum motivation" in his posts before he name claimed. All I read is newbie town from the Hoopster. zuma's out of nowhere claim: I think that zuma should know better and shouldn't have done what he did, but I also don't think it's a scum move. I just think it's a patented zuma move, which doesn't help decide his alignment either way. Furthermore, the name claim seems like he's an exasperated townie, but I don't quite understand what he's frustrated about considering it's just the third day of Day 1. Have we really screwed up that bad already? I don't think so. draingeadbate: I think it's silly. The first thing I thought was that there was some silly post restriction on her because of her role. Sure, it requires more investigation and we'll see what draingead can tell us about it, but again, I don't think switching a b out for a g should be necessarily a scum tell. I mean, something that obvious that everybody would pick up on? Draingead didn't need to quote her role PM at the time, we'd had plenty of information. If she was scum, she would have hid away from the spotlight, not thrust herself into it.

Okay reading through all 19 posts by drainbead including the ones before this game started. Her B button was working fine prior to the start of Day 1. So I am going under the assumption that it is a mod action. She was told not to use the letter B or something. The only letter B's she used where in minor words, but, be, about. But all B's where replaced by G's in all other B words. So I will also assume that she did copy and paste her PM. So back to square one for me.

First of all, I'm not even going to respond to zuma's vote for me, because it's obvious that he's just fucking around. If you go back and read all his posts over the last couple of days, you can see. Talk about wishy-washy.
I do have something I'd like to work out a little though - NAF's behavior seems a little off to me. I know that he has claimed to be a mason along with molefan, but I'm just not down with that yet.
NAF says,
Then,
The only response to NAF is Rysto saying that if molefan and NAF have identical win conditions and everyone else's is different it would be easy to find the masons. NAF says,
Koldanar says he believes there are 2 scum groups because of the wording in his PM. NAF says,
Rysto asks Koldanar and NAF for more info about this extra scum group and NAF says,
And then NAF goes on to say what other possible scum groups MAY look like.
The hawkeyeop decides to reveal wording in his PM and NAF says,
Koldanar confirms hawkeyeop's wording and NAF jumps in with,
Then Rysto is confused because molefan has no idea of a second scum group but NAF does and NAF's response is,
And then we move on to zuma's name claim...
Here's what I get from all that.
Since the mass name claim now seems to be forgotten amidst the turbulance of molegate, NAF needs to find another way to get Townies to reveal info about themselves.
He gently and subtly offers a suggestion - not even to the entire board, but to story in particular - just as sort of an off-hand, "hey what do you think of this" thing.
When nobody jumps on, he gently prods, while poking fun at himself and acknowledging it may not be a great idea - but still encouraging of others if they feel like doing it.
He finds a victim in Koldanar, who happens to vaguely mention his PM and NAF hooks into that and jumps in with a "me too!" without revealing anything more.
Hawkeyeop says something about his PM, NAF just nods as if receiving interesting info BUT DOES NOT SAY IT'S IN HIS PM. Then Koldanar confirms hawkeyeop and since NAF has already claimed his PM is the same as Koldanar, he now has to back-peddle and say his is the same as hawkeyeop's too.
And with all this - with all the players who cut and paste their win conditions verbatim into the thread...NAF never once revealed anything from his own PM that was different than something already said by someone else.
And when it was pointed out that his supposedly "co-mason" was jiving with NAF's story, he blames it on molefan for not reading the PM closely.
Does this seem scummy to anyone else?
We haven't gotten any info from NAF at all yet this game except a seemingly frustrated and desperate role claim. He was pretty quick to jump in and name both he and molefan masons, but then got all tight-lipped and hasn't shared another damn thing since.

<snip>If she was scum, she would have hid away from the spotlight, not thrust herself into it. I think we need to be very, very careful about this one. We've pretty much decided that scum are going to be hiding in the shadows, so I'm guessing there's going to be at least two scum who are prolific posters this time around. Especially since they're going to have to try to dig up who's who amongst the Baddies in this closed setup.

Everything is backwards - the "good" characters are scum and the "villians" are town. Why would you assume the masons are going to be the same side as in previous games?
