No, I mean that Sinjin's role sounds a lot scummier to me than CIAS's does, if there is more than one wolf team. I think it would go something like this: "Your task is to get the other wolf team to attempt a night-kill on you. Should you succeed, you will immediately learn the identity of the person who attempted the night-kill and will be able to use this information however you wish." Could be a town role, more likely to be scum IMO. But if we assume the scum get a nightkill every night, and they know who isn't scum, and we consider the possibility they have an investigative role, doesn't this power seem a little uneven-handed to give to scum? They already have a lot more information than town, and can openly communicate it at night. The town's initial strength is in numbers, the scum's initial strength is in knowledge. Loading up the scum with a bunch of knowledge roles seems to unfairly balance the game. I'm willing to believe for now that CAIS is a trigger happy vig, but it'll take considerably more to convince me that Sinjin's power was given to scum. You've got a lot more experience in mafia than I do, so I'd like to know why you think this scenario is likely or even plausible. It just seems more plausible to me than giving a townie the massive power of being able to 1) evade a wolf kill, and 2) confirm the identity of the wolf in question. I've come across powers that rely upon a townie being night-killed before, but this one seems very overpowered indeed.

The only time I've ever seen a "strongman" role, it was a pro-Town role(Scotsman in Conspiracy).

Perhaps it was painful...or messy. I suppose I really don't want to know, but he has definitely been quiet.
sinjin what Cat is referring to by "role claiming" on Day 1, I believe, are all of the people who (allegedly) shared bits and pieces of their PMs but stopped short of including their entire PM. Some shared only win conditions, some shared capitalization/syntax differences, some shared everything except their powers.
I also feel that it is highly unlikely that you didn't know what he was referring to with that statement, and I must say that I am finding it harder and harder to buy everything that you are trying to sell.

I've come across powers that rely upon a townie being night-killed before, but this one seems very overpowered indeed. But I would think the overpowering factor of giving it to a townie can be easily compensated by increasing the number of scum. Heck, if you give the scum one more body than you would normally, you've essentially created a wash situation. Sure it's easier to identify one scum, but now the scum have one more person. Plus, as a bastard mod you get to sit back and watch in amusement as everyone racks their brains trying to figure out the significance of it all. If you give a power like this to a scum, essentially you are setting up any vig to be outed. If vig's are always pro-town, you are weakening the benefit of numbers the town has. You are setting the town up to screw themselves over to the scum by playing their town roles. At least a scum detective requires the scum to take an active role in getting additional information. Scum getting passive powers seems unbalancing because they already have the passive power of knowing everyone in the game who isn't them. How would you propose you balance something like that for town? (Now I realize, the vig can screw over town by killing other town, but at least the pro-town person is pro-actively screwing the town over. It just doesn't sit well with me that town can screw themselves over passively by playing well.)

Cookies if that's the case then there were a lot more people then he mentioned who let go a little bit of info about their role PMS. I read "role claimants" as "role claimants". And as I said before, the Cat is normally a meticulous poster. Do you disagree with that? Do you also disagree that Koldanar was dead before Cat looked at him Night 1? How about his reason for backing off of Hockey Monkey? Did that make sense? Did I seem TOO townie yesterday? And all I'm trying to sell is that I got info that Cat tried to kill me last night and I don't believe his reason for why he did it. molefan: You think it's more plausible to give the scum this awesome power? Superman, beam me aboard I've entered the Bizarro universe. And I'm beginning wonder why the Masons are suddenly coming down on my case. Hey, there's are more than one scum out there, make a case for them and I'll unvote Cat for the time being. Until then he remains my vote. And if you want to call it an OMGUS vote feel free. Because I do think he sucks. And I think he covets my undies.

Dio, you should probably start a Part 2 thread before we hit 20 pages. You guys are seriously not going to hit 20+ pages again, are you? Okay, I'm going to do a quick votecount, lock this thread, and open up a new one.
